  2. Dude you are my hero. This topic should get more attention Imo, since melee in this game is so bad. The Elder Scrolls melee sucks just like DayZ's, Chivalry its the best example there is about melee, seriously, if you guys don't know it go look for it. It is really worthy

    If inside somewere, I would get the halberd in my hands. In a corridor I have the advantage because of the long range stab, just poke them in the brain lol. I mean, I would avoid at all costs geting closer to something that might infect me with its touch, a katana would be shit in this sense because you are at facehug range, there would be zombie blood all over you and the risk of contamination would be high! Plus, if a horde is running after you, chances are you are dead either with a katana, halberd or even with a firearm. So I still prefer the halberd due its long range, even better for steath killing zombies and it would be scarry to be chased by a crazy man with a huge polearm, so bonus points for that.

    A Halberd weights 2-3 kilograms, has that badass axe-hook-spear thing and you could keep them zombies far away due its lovely range! Its a win-win maine, halberd in dayz is a must"!!1 lol EDIT: oh man I had the wrong links in my first post, now it is corrected

    I desagree, I belive there is still A LOT of work to do in this game melee mechanics. Like the only "good" (that means not total shit) animations are the axes swings, that is what makes them good to use since this game has sort of a dynamic attacks in melee (you hit with the weapon animation, not your crosshair). They NEED to improve every melee animation to be at least as usefull as the axes are. Have you tried the Pitchfork? It has the worse animations I have seen in a game, you simply have no clue over when or where that shit will hit, its guesswork and lmb spam at its best. Its so bad its not even funny man. And if you think about it, a pitchfork would be far better than an axe, due its stabbing range but not in DayZ because shit animations. Also it lacks depth. Compare the melee mechanics with the shooting mechanics. Then look at what games like Chivalry: Medieval Warfare are doing about melee. At the moment, it looks like a placeholder, really. It can improve so much and has a lot of potential.

    Why Did They Break Axes?

    Well imo they should refine the animations and invest in real time swings. The only weapons that doesn't have shit animations are the axes, thats why people prefer them. Have you tryed the pitchfork? Idk why they even added that weapon, never seen such a bad animation that leaves you clueless about where and when it will hit the target. It should just give a long stab, but it has that wierd as hell animation that sucks so hard. Same with bats, knifes, fists (its just easy to land hits because its like a machine gun, you just aim at your target's general direction lol) and everything that doesn't have that axe swing animation. They need to be MUCH more fluid. Then, I belive it would be nice to be able to block or parry incoming melee strikes. I mean, the ranged combat is really deep and complex, they should invest in melee to. Would be really fun to have a simplifield Chivalry: Medieval Warfare mechanics.

    Melee in this game indeed sucks very much. Need TONS of work to be even just bad, now I prefer to think it doesn't even exist and what we have is just a placeholder. Look at Chivalry:Medieval Warfare melee mechanics, we need a tracer system in this game.

    More Horror and Gore Please!

    Couldn't agree more Mr. Jubeidok, this game needs some gore. Every game that has realism and death needs to have gore, it's a reality-check. Nothing breaks more my imersion then hitting someone with a fireaxe/pikeaxe on his hindhead just to see that really, really stupid a.r.m.a blood effect. I belive that a Manhunt kind of gore (were an axe to the head would open it, and a high caliber shot to the face would blow half of it) would do great for this game. No need for mutilations I think, just this sort of realistic gore wounds.

    You make me look like someone who needs help, you better not let me know what servers you usually play lol I would like to wear a necklace made of teeth and general bones from my victims, paint my face in blood and scream incomprehensible things pursuiting someone with a plastic bag

    Yeah no fun allowed. Imo the solution for KoS is more torture methods. Wish I could sufocate someone with a plastic bag, or pull their teeth with rusty pliers. Also would be nice to be able to drag people arround, so you can get your victim to that old ap. block and have you both a lot of fun. We could use hammers to break restrained people legs/arms without dealing to much damage lol, also poke their eyes out would be a nice adition.

    What exactly changed about the melee combat in .47 stable?

    Imo they should use a tracer system on melee, like Chivalry:Medieval Warfare. Now it is totally luck based, you simple have no idea of what is going on, its a guess to find out where you will hit. The melee system on this game suck so hard it's not even funny. Has zero depth and some times even anti-fun to use. If the ranged combat is so good and complex, why melee should suck so hard? It would be nice if they added things like blocking/parrying, would make the combat A LOT more interesting and it would reduce the need of a firearm if you at least could trust the melee system. I hope they change it, but I don't think they will. At best, it will be a zero-range pistol like every other game, whitch is shit imo.
