Yeah it would be awesome, imagine a good melee system to use also when they add bayonet and things like that. Basic blocking/parrying would be really nice. -
I belive it would be fine if we could tell them apart. These stalker zeds could be heavly contaminated and have a creepier skin because of it or behave diferently from the normal horde and make diferent sounds. So if you were being followed by one or spotted one, you could deal with it before making a next move.

Sometimes the hit clearly don't register, even when low pings or against other players. Fists are totally broken, you attack 15 times and 3 hits only do register lol, plus some weapons animations are really broken and it is really hard to tell how to aim them. It wasn't like this before (well the pitchfork animations aways sucked, but now it is suicide), and if this is intetional then it is really bad. Imo they should just fix the hitbox and make the animations more trustworthy you know, it should be easy to deal with 1-3 zombies in melee, they are nothing but really stupid humans. You should get problems with more then that. Now sometimes 2 zombies are a nightmare because you never know where shit is going to hit. Seriously, try weapons like the pitchfork, you will see how broken the melee is. -
Once I thought that having something like Silent Hill have, would be good for this game. Like when you encounter wierd shit in SH, the ambient sound changes to really scarry and disturbing "music" like this: Or sometimes like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4M0ujNfkJ8#t=11 In DayZ it could be used like when zombies start to attack you, or in moments of general "panic", a dynamic soundtrack to add in the atmosphere. Nothing loud that would bother gameplay, I think that it should be the optional "music" in the game. Silent Hill 1,2 and 3 were games that had great atmosphere (and creepy as hell) created by sound effects. It would be cool to get in a big city, close to the hospital at a rainy night, all steath because lots of zombies and something like this kicks in: (btw this whole ost is worth checking out, its this video link) The horror side of this game could drink on these sources maybe

But this doesn't change the fact that their hitboxes are f*cked up, I mean, you adapted to a bug. It's totally an artificial dificulty and imo there are better ways to make them zeds harder then buging their hitbox Get a good ranged melee weapon (farming hoe is gud) and aim with the animation. Try to drag that overhead animation through the zed body (I do left-right with the mouse, sometimes I start the attack not even aiming at the zed and just drag it to him). You will have problems anyways because there is something wrong with their hitbox, but attacking this way aways worked for me, and now it still do sometimes. The crosshair is a pretty shitty reference for the melee strikes. -

Oh I understand now, sorry. I thought we were going to start a discussion about which game is better or more complex lol. The blocking in Chivalry works the same way, you gotta look at the direction of the incoming attack and press rmb, so if its an overhead you gotta look up and parry. You can't hold your defense up unless with a shield, so you have to time your parries. I think that Chivalry's mechanic is closer to what we have in DayZ. -

Once I was fully geared, akm with drum mag and all that roaming through Berezino when a almost fresh-respawn gets me with my pants down and hits me in the leg with a Blaze rifle, I proceed to fix my broken leg and then charge in his direction unloading the akm and screaming like a crazy. Dude starts to say on mic "OH MAN PLEASE GO AWAY PLEASE IM SORRY". Yeah, I'm sorry too AHAHHAHAHhahHAhaH, I love drum mags

A big part of the fun is to fake being a hero and backstabbing people for their goods lol. The game would lose depth if something like this is added and the risk of forcing a gameplay style over another is kinda bad imo. I mean, I would not like to be a bandit if people would KoS me without thinking twice. And, if you could see your friends through walls it would be harder to ambush or outplay you and your friends since you would be far more coordinated and with almost zero risk of friendly fire.

Best multiplayer competitive experience I had since Quake 3 and CS 1.6 man, its a really inovative and funny game, totally worthy. I have now like more then 1000 hours in that shit, lol. Plus, its a really good example of a deep melee mechanics. DayZ already has that basic principle of the animation dealing the damage (diferent from TF2 melee, or the CS knife where it is like a zero range firearm with a knife/whatever skin). I belive its best to show you then try to explain with a bad writen text in broken english lol. Take a look man: At the end of the vid he talks a bit over the real time strike system. It is beautifull ingame man, it makes things a lot deeper and complex. This series of videos this dude makes is great to see this game's melee mechanics, I can only dream with such mechanics in DayZ lol. -

Yes, what you said sounds like "go ahead and play like a noob if you want to". You are judging my ways man, that means somehow you think that what I do is wrong/stupid oposed to what you do. You sugest me to stop being a noob. Just read all your posts since the first one you've made in this thread. You think that people who tortures in DayZ have personality issues, whitch is really wrong and is why I am debating with you. it can be a funny experience for both players involved and the game would be even better if it allowed us more ways to torture, since this concept and mechanic is already ingame. I said you seems to be mad because your posts sounds a bit agressive man, thats it. -

True that, and I notice that they go through walls more often then the normal zombies too. Theese dudes are really scarry lol. I would love a melee mechanics that would be something like a simplifield Chivalry: Medieval Warfare thing. I mean, it is really realistic and would add a lot of depth to this game -

Hmm I understand, thanks for clearing that up for me man. Yes a loot of work is still needed, but I belive we might be going in the right direction. I'm eager to see what solution they will come up with for larger cities. -

Yes my friend, Chernarus needs a better kind of bandits than usual KoS snipers Yes but what is the point of this claim? Are you insinuating that someone here has pre-existing anti-social tendencies? How do you know that? If you just kill people without torturing them you could unleash the psycopath inside of you the same way. In the 90's people would say that Doom did this to people lol. -

Omg this loot mechanic is really bad, it explains a lot.. Also does persistent itens affect this? I mean, persistent junk like jeans pants and flashlights that prevents loot from respawning even after a server restart, or something like this. -

I would say it is quite broken. More than half of your hits will not register when you clearly hit, so it is a pretty artificial dificulty that we have now. -

You understood me wrong my friend, I don't torture for the fun of simply torturing. During the process you talk to your victim, make jokes and whatnot. Have you watched the video I posted? It's a fine example. My life is pretty good, thanks. Wow you are such a DayZ pro man 10/10 would totally KoS you too. I don't want their gear, I don't even want them dead. What I want is to create possible funny moments like that vid I posted up there. This game is great because the relations you can create betwen players. So you enjoy killing and getting their gear, cool. I like to break their legs, knock them unconscious and say wierd shit while they have a burlap sac in their head. I don't even have to kill the man, just steal his things and leave them with a wierd taste in their mouth lol. Why are your playstile superior then mine? You say you don't want people to play like you, but in fact you do man. I choose to go diferent and you rotulate me as a noob lol. "If you're the victor in a hostile situation then you win. You get their gear. They get to die. Anything else is pointless beyond that." YEAH no fun allowed, again. -

Torture in this game is for FUN, didn't you know that killing virtual shit is fun? Just look at videogames, the great majority is about killing something. So I bet you are a bullyed sociopath too, right, since you've been "killing" and giving a painfull death to a lot of things during your lifetime right. Thats like heavy duty hypocrisy.
