The wierd small proportion of things are glaring... I like the lightning effects, but the game models for interiors like refrigerators and things, and the size of said interiors are still ugly as hell, just imagine a survivor in that scene... I would love to see more proportional interiors -
Oh man the irony lol. When you want to stay alive, people KoS you without remorse. Now you want to die and find someone really willing to not let you die lol Whenever I see some good loot that I don't need (like can oppeners or good weapons), I get them in hands and throw them away.

I don't really see how painting your weapon in stupid collors is not serious. Maybe I paint a golden m4 and drop it somewhere to ambush someone. Or maybe I just think it looks good and actually don't give a fuck about camouflage because I got a diferent aproach on risky situations (roleplayer or something). You see, in a realistic and serious apocalipse situation there would still be wierd people with wierd tastes, or dumb person with no self love that likes to wear orange raincoat +pink sks. I really can not understand why more options is bad. If something, its realistic. Imo it only adds to the game. Don't you think you would see wierd shit in a zombie appocalipse? People do unpredictable stuff mang, you never know. I mean, military dudes, at least for me, its KOS without remorse and a lot of people has this in mind too. So if one wants to avoid this, he could dress himself in a wierd collorfull way in order to cause a diferent first impression on the other survivor. I'm all for more collors. -

Death is bad in game now and lifeless, if you understand me. A well made gore (maybe not dismemberments, but ugly wounds you know) would do great to the game's atmosphere imo. They should use "sound gore" too like, imagine being hit in the leg by a mosing fire, you would scream in pain and cry for your mother in fear of dying lol. Same with zeds, they should rip your face'n arms flesh in a pretty gory way each hit they land, if you don't have a decent protection, and your character screams in agony each hit they take while your clothes start to get wet in blood with a beautifull effect like the wet look reain leaves in everything in .50. This adds a lot man, things have more meaning or deepth imo. Imagine axing someone in the neck with realistic gore and sound representation. We need characters drowning in blood while they die, doing wierd spasms and shit. You know, this kind of realistic gore, that shocks and makes you feel kinda wierd by doing things to other people. Idk, I belive that Manhunt has some nice examples of well made gore. Some are over the top, but some others would fit really good in DayZ imo. The gore we have now is a joke, seriously. Its a heavy imersion breaker for me, that ridiculous blood effect lol, its a joke. -

Game is easy mang, git gud. I was some time without playing, came back yesterday and on my second respawn I stablished a good char. I also have no problems keeping it healthly. The survival aspect is easy, game even gets boring due the lack of challange. -

I belive that would be panic, or something like that. Sound really helps to create general panic! Gore too, imagine a zombie destroying your skin with his nails, open wounds and blood everywere while your char screams in pain. Dayz mod had an optional ost, in standalone could be optional to have a dynamic ost that, you know, helps with atmosphere, panic and all that (this is a game after all), the graphics by themselfs are not nearly enough. It would have to be much better for that (see interiors). Just some well made wounds for melee/zombie/shots and blood effects would be great imo, the dynamic music idk if its a good idea. I guess people don't want that, thou if well made it could add a lot to the game imo.

Nice post man! Even "knowing" how the tracers are drawn (imo bohemia should demonstrate this to us somehow, in Chivalry:Medieval Warfare there is a console command that shows the tracers), there are plenty of inconsistencies caused by lag and whatnot In my opinion the range and the fast release times (that is, the time it takes to draw the full arc of an attack) are what makes this game melee bad. But that would be b0lonce and probably is better to fix when in beta. Bigger release times could do miracles to this game's melee mechanic.

Yeah my experience with the bat was the same. Had to move foward and aim a bit lower to hit him. But don't you thing you should be abble to hit a zombie with a baseball bat while standing? I mean, the thing was phasing through the zed. In final version I belive it will be fine, but now at least in my experience, there is a lot of bullshit moments until I find out how to compensate because this mechanic is kinda wierd/unbalanced/unfinished. I think would be good for melee a bit more range and increased release time of the animation. What? You never had any bullshit moment with melee? I do all this you say, but when I'm fighting the zombie with many kinds of weapons, sometimes hits doesn't register. I don't take damage from the zombie, but its really wierd to see your weapon phasing through it and nothing happening. This never happened to you? -

Once they remove the action mechanics from the scroll whell, I think it would be nice if we had diferent melee attacks (slashes'n overheads'n stabs) using left click, scroll down and up. Right mouse button could be used for a defensive move like blocking/parrying or dodging. If you parry sucessfuly an attack, you could make a riposte out of it. In order to make people miss they parries, we could use a "feint" mechanic, where you start your attack but if you press rmb during the windup of said attack you cancel it, making people panic parry lol. Due the tracer system already present, other method of making people miss parries is "dragging" the animation to make it hit latter or sooner, fucking with your opponent's timings, or to hit them by the sides, making the parry more dificult. Would make melee pretty skillfull, like it is with firearms now. I really don't understand why melee in this game can't be complex, it would add such depth. Add your kick idea to all this, and shit would be pure gold man. One can dream, right

Imo you can't say someone sucks at a mechanic that is barely finished, melee is ridiculous and has the skill celing of washing your hands. There is like 2 viable melee weapons, the animations fuck up if you spam lmb or when strafing with certain weapons, the tracers doesn't match the swing animation properly, game lags to much and so on. Hard to tell if someoe sucks or not at melee, even more if what you have as a parameter of melee skill is player vs zombie. Cattle prod and stun batton are easier to use because of the poke animation. It is somehow precise, like when you are poking with that stick that you use to craft the bow, forgot its name lol. The tracers kinda match, now on swings like the axe and baseball bat, they are pretty off, same with "spear" weapons like the pitchfork -

Well I belive its caused by lack of endgame cooperative stuff like farming/vehicles/bases + the thrill of being a muder you know, assassinating people for them lols and tears. This will aways be a thing in this game imo. If you want to have more friendly encounters, you gotta make that happen by leaving the other player with no other option if not talk to you. You will need a gun and some steath skills to make that man. As a fresh respawn, you are safer by hiding your ass at all costs.

You can find them also in industrial areas. You know those big industrial buildings that are in Novo? the ones that you have some ladders'n stairs to climb up? There you will find man. Its a good loot place imo.

After I posted that I got in the game and tried to test again. I was using a fireaxe and the target was the pole on those Stop signs, at first I tried to hit it using the animation, like draging the mouse/animation through the pole, some times it hit, some times it doesn't. Then I placed the crosshair at the middle of said pole and the same result, some times it hit and some times not. While aiming with the crosshair my char didn't move, I was totally static aiming at the same point and only some of the hits registered, it was like for every 5 hits, 3 register. The thing is, its tracer based indeed because it didn't hit exacly where my crosshair was, it hit more at the end of the animation due the maximum close range you can get of something. In Chivalry: Medieval Warfare (a melee game that uses tracer system) they have something called the " bubble", which is a bubble that get arround chars and create colision, so 2 chars can't get way to close to eachother. In one of the balaces patches they increased the size of said bubble, and shorter weapons like daggers and such became total shit because you cound't get in a good range to attack people. This is, imo, one of the problems with DayZ melee right now, the bubble is way to big or the weapons have to little reach. In the Stop sign test, I belive that one of the reasons to the misses was that the axe coudn't reach it very well, this I belive is because when aiming with the crosshair I hitted the pole lower to where I was aiming, and thats the end of the animation. I belive that lag also has a lot to do with all this too, but the tracers also doesn't match the animations 1-1. I belive that in beta phase we will see a very much improved melee due animations being reworked, I think that their objective with melee and its animations should be matching flawlessly the tracers with the animatios, or we will aways have this artificial skill level where the veteran knows how to correct the aim, and newer players will think (with reason imo) that melee is shit. Also maybe if the increase the "release time" (the whole moment where the animation deals damage and the amount of time it takes to draw the full arc) the melee would be far more enjoyable. The bigger the release time, the more control you have over the attack animation.
