Zeds in SA are fair, in the mod, due the fact they are a big pile of buggy mess, they are really hardcore and a formidable foe, they run like Usain Bolt, its some really scarry shit man. SA is cool because you can even dodge zeds attacks with good timing and a bit of practice, in the mod you better run like hell, or don't let him get close to you because you will get hit, and they really like to break your legs in the mod lol. The mod is way more hardcore and REALLY not noob-friendly, but SA plays better and has a general better game designing imho, but lacks challange. -

I don't mind the repetition, really. What bothers me is the proportion of interiors, looks like we in fucking dollhouses sometimes -
The mod had way more hardcore zeds, you had to find a axe or you were doomed. In SA you can fist them to death easily (my record was me vs 4, without taking one single hit) and more ahead in development, we will be abble to reliably lock them inside places. Also they are no longer Usain Bolt nor a bugged pile of shit, you can now even dodge their attacks! They are more fair then in the mod, thus easier. The mod was really REALLY harder then SA and not because there were more zombies, but because they were essentialy harder even on 1x1 situations. And even so, people runned like no tomorrow in the middle of elektro, with 10+ zeds on their asses with zero problems unless there were a player arround. I belive that stamina system will be better to stop people gearing up fast then zombies. Zombies by themselfs are easy imo.

I usued to play like you, but when I was new in the mod a long time ago. I don't know how to get back to that so Indeed I metagame, because the atmosphere is really weak now, so I simply can't get into this game at this point of development. The interiors SUCK, zeds suck, sound effects suck, gore effects suck big time. Basicaly at every turn something breaks my imersion so yeah, I metagame the shit out of this because zero atmosphere at the moment. The funny thing is, I almost never kill other players man I'm friendly as fuck (imo its more challanging to make friendly contact then hide in a bush and shot), but I do defend this playstyle because it adds a lot to my experience, to know that there are a lot of people who play this game just to get the kicks of killing people. Makes me keep on my toes, infact, its the only thing that does that to me and actually creates some terror atmosphere. -

No massive gore and shit man, I'm just talking about some kind of enemy that you actually don't want to fight you know, that makes you panic and shit your pants. DayZ already have this, humans. But I see no reason why them zeds coudn't be also part of this, they are such a silly thing now. They impose no challange, so their terror factor is almost 0 (just like the mod). About the animals, I like your post man, very well thought and I agree from a realism PoV, but I also think that they are a great oportunitie to make the gameplay richier you know, because now we either A) confront stupid as fuck zeds that impose 0 challange or B) other players, who usually ends in firefights. So Imo would be nice to, you know, be a freshrespawn all alone in a rural area during the night, raining, only with the moonlight, when you hear some grunts comming from a barn. You get there, light a flare and see a zed eating a rotten corpse. Zed looks at you, right on his side is a rusty and bloody axe, he looks a his tool, get it in his hand and proceed to run after you making wierd sounds wanting to crave that axe on your back for some fresh food. You see, not over the top gore (zed eating a person), its all very spooky due sound effects that gave you a clue about something wrong going on, and the fact that the zed has a axe makes REALLY risky for you to take him with your bare fists so running like hell is your best option. No jumpscare, plain simple fear of something stronger then you wanting to kill you. DayZ has no enemy like this at the moment, only humans. And humans are boring because most of the time they shoot you and thats not really scarry. You really find DayZ frightening? You PANSIE lol ( just kidding man), imagine if you played Silent Hill 1/2/3 then.. I find it rather bland, weak, unexplored and unfinished. There are so much thing to add, and I'm talking about good terror not jumpscares and "spooky skeletons" bullshit. Now in dayZ, you enter a barn and a stupid creature runs after you, just fist fuck him to death (which is really, really easy) and call it a day. There is no atmosphere nor challange, zeds are boring as fuck now imo. AND, just raising their numbers is, imho, a bandaid fix for all this. We could even have less zeds if they were hard to beat/smart. Would be so cool, imagine a zed chasing you through the whole city, you climb on a stair and hear him climbing after you with his goddamn axe! I understand your point about terror, but imo they are way to abstract. We need more direct things you know, get in a house and see a zombie eating a dead animal/person/zombie. The zeds completely lacks good sound effects (alpher anyone?) as for your character aswell. The game is rather bland at the moment, and you need to keep thinking about everything that happened there so it MAYBE gets a little bit wierd. We need to see shit that makes us unconfortable. This what you said about kids, imagine the terror in seeing a group of zeds destroying a dead kiddo (never gonna happen, I know)? You see, imo we need shit that makes us go out of the confort zone in this game, and diferent kinds of opponents can do a nice job in this, we don't need to kill the children lol! -

Easy kind of game enemy. Thanks god they are adding wild animals, because zombies, imo, are ridiculous gameplay wise. Its the most basic kind of enemy, it runs toward you and attack, they don't know how to organize themselfs, flank or anything. I have big hopes for wolfs, since they can be WAY more tactical in fucking you up. Idk why zeds in this game has to be so stupid, why can't they use weapons? Would be so fucking cool to have military zeds acting like that HL2 Combine zed, where he takes a granade out and runs towards you lol, or farmer zeds using pitchforks/chainsaws... DayZ zeds are the worse, less creative and less challanging type of zed there is. Could be so much better imo, it would add A LOT to PvE aspect of the game and also to the general horror, that this game lacks so much. -
You are so wrong in this man... KoS is the only really scarry thing in this game, if not DayZ would be Minecraft. They can add as much zombies as they want, it will only be scarry for noobs because AI is essentialy predictable, and everyone and they grandmother knows that what makes this game fun and what adds tension are the PvP elements. Thanks god there are many KoS fags out there, otherwise people would just run like there is no tomorrow in the middle of the cities, there would be no need in steath and so on (again, zeds will not do any miracle towards making people go cautiously because they are predictable and dumb, and zeds are a very limited and easy do deal with kind of AI opponent). I'm not saying "Hey, dayz is about gearing up fast and PVP", but people might wanna do that and I see no problems, or the need to tell them to play another game because they don't play the way you think is the right way to play. The core concept of the game is survival, dude managed to gear up (survive) fast and now he wants to kill people, what is wrong in this? How does this goes against the game concept? They will make surviving harder? Thanks god for that but it will not stop experient players from gearing up fast and PvP because the most important thing to survuve is to know the map, its the crucial survival element. If you know the map and where to go, your surviving chances increase dramatically so, I don't even understand why you are CoD policing him, makes no sense to me. You should do that on who uses that oustide of the game map faggotry. Seriously, who uses that deserves 0 respect, its pure cheating.

Let him play the game the way he wants man. This CoD police is so annoying. I believe the devs doesnt really care if you want to gear up fast and PvP, because this only adds to the game (banditry for example). Just like KoS. Thanks for the well made tutorial of your route OP, very usefull for those who are new in the game! Aways good to have such things.

Yeah! I would like so much to see some good voice acting. You know, man/woman really screaming out of their lungs, as it was happening to them. If well done, this by itself will be terror fuel for many people. Screams have a huge effect in our mind, they can really shake your emotional state and are far easier to make then visual effects I believe. Also, you will really not want to get hurt because you would agro zeds lol, that adds to the general tension imo. Zeds could use better sounds too, I mean, just look at them. They have so much unexplored potential with sound effects, female zeds should make diferent sounds too imo. Would be nice if they did some really wierd disturbing sounds. I hope that the devs doesn't underestimate the power of sound in creating general game atmosphere/horror, we have a bunch of games that explore this and show how good it can be, like Silent Hill series (well, at least the first 3 games had godlike sound desining).

I believe the horror factor in this game should come in a more realistic way, like with sound effects for example. Imagine someone shots you in the leg, you character falls to the ground screaming in panic and crying because of the pain, while you know that those screams will agro zeds/the guy who shot you and you are incapable of doing fast moviments to gfto, dying, helpless. We need good voice actors Imo, sound can add A LOT to this game. I mean, imagine the possibilities man, if you are running from a zed group, and one of them manages to hit you and your character responds with panic screams + heavy breathing sounds. I mean, the characters are not A.R.M.A. supersoldiers, so I belive that good voice acting can be a nice way to represent the horror or panic factor of the game

At the moment, due lag and the fact this game is a alpha and a lot of mechanics are not correctly implemented, I dare say the combat in this game is 90% luck based. There are so many bullshit factors that is hard to think otherwise imo. So better luck next time man

Well OP, I feel you bro. Today I was up to do some good to freshrespawns too, so I proceed to look for a V3S truck, found one, gas tank almost full after finding enough jerrycans so I take my way to the coast to find some lucky freshrespawn. BUT, I had my char, I had my gear'n stuff, I really didn't wanted to die, so I droped it in a road near Dolina and got to a nearby house to eat something. Man, the truck didn't last 10 minutes, I got into the house and when I was eating, I hear the truck door opening, closing and then the engine turning on! Man, it was like REALLY fast lol. I hope this stranger enjoy the gift! I belive that if you want to do charity without getting fucked, you best bet is to fill a backpack with can oppeners, food, drinks and drop in a freshrespawn area. You won't have the direct "thank you", but hey, what really matters is that you helped someone right. Gud post man I agree, and I have to say that in DayZ I feel safer alone then with a group. People talk too much, run too much, are not organized, want to rush everything, are trigger happy... I can control myself quite good, I can be invisible alone in DayZ! This would be so diferent in a real life situation...

This needs further testing, but I belive that if you swing with a melee weapon (tested with the splinting axe) and make a rapid moviment with the mouse to the left or right the tracers break and don't show up, thus registering no hit. Imo would be good if the melee animations had a bigger release time (time where the damage tracers are drawn), so the tracers have more time to show up, giving you more control over your swings during the damage dealing moment of the animation. Now they are way too fast imo. But I guess this is all polishing and if done, it will be in beta..

This truck is so nice, I could look at it the whole day. It killed me when I drove it lol, the front part got into the floor and when I left it, "you are dead". Twas wothy thou, had a smile in my face all the time lol
