When are we going to get gold spray paint cans?

True, but there are plenty of people out there who would happily be willing to live with that risk.

    Chopping wood/kindling...

    (snicker) He said "innuendo "

    Vest bugs?

Just a hunch, but did you go on a roof (or possibly a top floor in some buildings)? I believe your equipment and sometimes you can take damage through a bug this way. Not sure what the exact conditions are though.

Status Report - Week of 06 Oct 14

I would love to see the colors change with the seasons in the real world. Now that would be immersive! I'm talking trees too - maybe leaf-less trees in Winter to provide a real challenge. Would this not be possible with the announced introduction of an additional shader channel?

    Clothes & Temperature

Ha! You mean like an anal thermometer used on a pre-zed who was just presenting symptoms before things went to hell? What could go wrong? I've felt the same, technically speaking, about using damaged rags for binding wounds (though I use them because the game has no penalties for it). You know what could be worse then finding yourself in the midst of a zombie apocalypse alone? Why, having sepsis of course! As a side note, I'm guessing/hoping the devs will someday introduce a chance of getting ill (like sepsis) from using dirty (non-pristine) rags on wounds. Then maybe we won't throw away the antibiotics so readily when found. However, splints should be fine for dirty rag use thus making them still useful as is.

    Tents loose stored items

Ah! You just offerred another option for the "Are you bored of DayZ yet" thread (http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/185616-anyone-getting-bored-of-standalone/). Go on a persistence server and see how many tents you can find in seemingly out of the way places :)

    Clothes & Temperature

Ebrim - thanks. That explains a lot (assuming it is accurate). prolly explains why I died the only time from cold the first day after 0.49 came out... someone had it cranked to Christmas time of year.

    Clothes & Temperature

I don't believe the warmth factor of clothes is random, rather the servers seem to offer a variable to the calculation. I am curious if anyone knows how servers have this variability? I didn't think admins had the ability to configure a setting at this level... if not then where does the variability in ambient temperature come from?

    Popular spots in game?

Heh. I've probably fallen victim to your bullets then. My haunts as well typically, though lately I've been looking for action on the south coast. I see light to moderate numbers of people in Cherno and Elektro- a fair amount of fresh spawns are part of that.

    Popular spots in game?

Is anyone going to the new tent city in the west? I assume this is the moved Balota, right? I went there once, found no one there (and very little loot) but noticed that the surrounding hills will make this a potential blood bath area. May be just as much fun rooting snipers out as it is to try your luck at the tents :)

Has anyone blown anyone up with a grenade yet?

Sorry Acolyte. He struck a nerve. Feel free to delete mine as well (I think I got in after your sweep)

Has anyone blown anyone up with a grenade yet?

That reminds me... My grenade is badly damaged (when my jacket it was carried in got ruined). Does anyone know if the grenade is less effective based on condition? I would assume not.

Has anyone blown anyone up with a grenade yet?

I've got a grenade I'm itching to use. I will most likely die before I get to use it because my "action" moments rarely last long enough for me to think clearly. I do still have hope that will change this time though.

    Bandits are hilarious...? and liers?

Actually This sounds a lot like my typical game play: Someone shoots at me while I am stupidly out in the open, I try to get the better of the person then wind up getting killed by my own lack of sensibilities. Oh, and sometimes I accidentally kill my friends in the process. Come to think of it, my friends haven't been playing with me lately... *hmm*

    Bandits are hilarious...? and liers?

Thank you for the translation. Written that way it sounds like a scene from one of the Sherlock Holmes novels... The Zeds of Baskerville perhaps?

    I'm Freezing, wait, why?!

I'm pretty sure they DID intend it to be both irritating and quickly lethal. They are testing a new system and I doubt realism is a care at the moment - they can tweak it back at any time. Rather devs could very easily be wanting to test the mechanics of freezing rather than the realism of a balanced temperature system. More feedback quicker. Also, don't you find it odd that it is very difficult to get overheated (without roasting yourself on an open fire)? To me that is a hallmark of a biased system, one biased toward a particular testing scenario. It seems common among posters to assume that balanced play is a short-term goal of the devs. I have never assumed nor expected that being in such an early stage of development. And to the second point, yes swimming for 15 minutes in ice cold water would indeed bring you to a state of hypothermia. I can't think of a more effective way to do it actually. Consider that doctors will use ice baths to quickly lower a body's temperature to either counteract a high fever or to slow the body's processes and metabolism. Hypothermia as a definition is merely the lowering of a person's body temperature to below 35 degrees Celsius (from a normal 37 degrees). It's quite easy to do.

How do You Keep Yourself Busy While Travelling?

Funny you say that. I know this zombie hooker in Novo named Susan who likes rough play... probably not the same one though.
