If most countries require owning a safe..... How do they enforce that? I ask because I agree with the idea. I keep my ww2 pistols in a safe and wish all gun owners did too. Less kids would get hurt. But how do countries encourage or enforce owning a safe?

Is the update as bad as everyone says?
Zed's Dead replied to d.walker43's topic in General Discussion
All I know is that I was excited about seeing better zombie collision but the very first zombie I encountered fell through the stairs immediately. On experimental, everyone made it sound like zombies were not walking through objects so what the hell? Guys, I think its time to admit that the game is impossible to complete by 2020 at this rate of development. We are going on 9 months and nothing major has been fixed. -
Thanks man.

Sorry to ask, but what is MOA?

But he is right that its ridiculous that pistols never have a mag in them. To the Op, there are shit loads of pistol mags at military bases like bolota, Which means dangerous to get.

Things I immediately noticed about today's release...
Zed's Dead replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
I was pleasantly surprised by the better zombie movements and hits. Yes you have to be more accurate but pleasantly, the zombies also have to be more accurate. Unfortunately, i was excited about zombie collision and paths but the very first zed fell through the stairs when he tried to walk up the 2nd floor. So maybe only first floor objects like walls stop them? Guess there is still a ton more work for that. -

Lol, wait, the added more hoppers? So they fix walking zombie collision, but not hoppers, and they added more hoppers. Ok, I give up. -
Should hopper zombies be removed for now before the next stable patch?
Zed's Dead replied to Zed's Dead's topic in General Discussion
I appreciate your reasoning but... 1. Why not add more walking zeds that are now fixed to test server loads and remove the monkey zombies. 2. Ok, you got me on this.... Or... Why not make walking zombies faster? 3. I dont get how any data is useful from monkey zombies that are terribly broken. The object does not resemble anything that will be in the final game. What is useful about being hit from 20 feet away by a monkey zombie that does not obey Collision like the walking zeds are? I feel that they can get more meaningful data from walking zeds -
Should hopper zombies be removed for now before the next stable patch?
Zed's Dead replied to Zed's Dead's topic in General Discussion
Awesome, We can tell each other to shut the fuck up and its not against the forum rules? Thats constructive man. I guess this is where I apologize for not understanding why they should not remove monkey zombies. This is pure insanity. -
There has been a lot of frustration posts about the game lately and it's really making the community divisive. It's sad because we all bought the game for the same reason of being excited about it which many of us still are. I feel like I can help explain why it seems we fans continuously keep turning against each other into one of two categories. I for one, am one of the people who don't know anything about how games are developed. I have no idea how much work, and I'm sure it's a lot, goes into making fps games great. Which is funny because my cousin is Allen Covert who plays the lead role in Grandma's Boy, but I digress.... Here is why many people including myself are confused about the progress and feel free to comment on what I may have right or wrong....... From what I understand, a ton of work is needed to fix the Alpha for a final game. That much we can agree on. This leads me to thinking we basically have two versions of the game going..... 1. is the released Alpha that we get to play. They give us new content to have fun with and of which we do. So it's understandable to me that since the Alpha has a very broken core, they cannot just simply update one fix at a time to the core because there is not enough time to keep the Alpha playable because if they fix one part of the engine, many other things may break the rest of the Alpha. OK, I get that. They are rebuilding the core parts of the game on the 2nd version of DayZ. The game that we can't see yet because they are building it up so much that it's not releasable. Again, please remember I know nothing about game design so I'm just assuming there is a 2nd version of Dayz that they are working harder on, correct? HERE IS WHY WE ARE TURNING AGAINST EACH OTHER AND SKEPTICS ARE RELEASING THEIR FRUSTRATION: Why isn't Bohemia releasing short clips of all the core work they are working on? In other words, why don't they talk about or show us a short video of a silencer working correctly on their new version of the game that runs different audio parameters? Why can't we see a short clip of exciting rag doll physics that they are working on with some of the zombie or character models? Why not have spokesperson explain how they will solve the non responsive controls? Why not at least release some drawings or explanations of how much better the final version of DayZ might be? Why isn't their public relations department, if they have one, releasing any indication of the new working core? If they released info like this it would get more people excited and lead to more sales. So what I'm trying to say, is that this is why some people are skeptical about the game being finished. We have never seen any work or indication of core work. It would only benefit them to do so. To us, the idea that zombies might stop going through walls next month, is not any indication that a final version of the game is being worked on. Zombie collision issues has been a known problems for many, many, many months.

Should hopper zombies be removed for now before the next stable patch?
Zed's Dead replied to Zed's Dead's topic in General Discussion
Well then if these monkey zombies going through walls and hitting us from the wrong direction after 8 months of development is an acceptable standard to your multi million dollar IT experience, then Im sure as hell glad I dont work in your company. -
Should hopper zombies be removed for now before the next stable patch?
Zed's Dead replied to Zed's Dead's topic in General Discussion
I disagree. If things are ridiculously broken like a monkey zombie jumping through walls and hitting you facing the wrong direction, then you remove it from testing because your name and reputation is on the line and its an insult to all the hard work they put in the walking zombies that are now more fixed. How am I stupid for wanting higher standards in the game? My fucking goal is for you and me to have a better gaming experience. This is a stupid conversation is what you probably meant. Your defense of the crappy monkey zombies staying in the game is illogical. The funny shit is, you can call me stupid but not be banned from the forum, but Im likely to be banned for speaking up about DayZ problems. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Zed's Dead replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
What? If there are 40 in each town, you will easily be cornered when you try to get supplies. And we should assume theor ai ill be better. Are you just giving up on DAyZ ever having acceptable numbers? This isnt call of duty Or battlefield. This game is pointless if there are less than 20 to 40 zeds per town when games complete. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Zed's Dead replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Wait, is this guy just assuming we wont ever get lots more zombies? Or is this for real? If the engine is rebuilt and optimized, could we not get 40 zeds per town? Did the staff say what their goal is for zed numbers? -
Hell yeah it is. Dont forget that a fresh spawn can knock you out with one punch if you have no helmet. You will never be more pissed in your life than when a fresh spawn hacker spots you from a mile up on a mountain and hits you in head from behind to get your gear. It happened twice to me. Even though they hack, they still have to find gear so they use the ability to spot players. Of course, non hackers can knock you out too.

Some Constructive Criticism about developemental direction: (WARNING! LONG POST!)
Zed's Dead replied to crazykage's topic in General Discussion
Wait, Im not sure of that. I would rather see zero patches in the first place at all unless they have reasonably tested them on experimental. I would be fine with one patch every 6 months because it would not break parts of the game and give them more time to work. -
How big is the DayZ SA team? (+ Development)
Zed's Dead replied to nebuuuu's topic in General Discussion
Not an expert, just someone who knows that all other games this popular and full of capital that are being developed often have 200 to 300 staff. -
Should hopper zombies be removed for now before the next stable patch?
Zed's Dead replied to Zed's Dead's topic in General Discussion
Crap? The crap is broken zombies, which with next patch, will only be the frogger zombies if they leave them in. What amazing data can we give them about broken zombies? What dont they know about them that you feel so strongly about bending over backwards to "test" for?My posts are crap because not wanting to test the same broken zombie problems for more than eight months is crap? Your reasoning for attacking my posts is insane. -
I'm so sick of hackers. I want to punch them in the face so bad. And I want them to shove their mom's credit cards up their ass that they keep buying multiple copies of DayZ with after each ban wave that just makes Bohemia even less motivated to prevent hacks.
-
Not if they are afraid of admitting they did not fix dispersion cones and accuracy. Perhaps they just changed damage and want to see if we accept it.

Zed's Dead replied to nebuuuu's topic in General Discussion
70 ? And notice that once they finally doubled their staff from 35, in a short 2 months the zombie pathing/collision is getting fixed. Why in God's name didnt they double or triple staff before 8 months ago when everyone knew the game would be popular and successful? Perhaps if the tripled staff earlier we would get more fixes than just the zombie pathing that does not even work with all zombies.. -
What type of Project Management is the DayZ dev team using?
Zed's Dead replied to evidica's topic in General Discussion
Uh oh. Wouldn't there be only one reason to not to release dates they will reach certain goals? Because they have no idea when each problem will be solved. But in their defense, don't all good games release long after projected dates? -
Should admins have more options at hand?
Zed's Dead replied to kieran0saurusrex's topic in General Discussion
I refuse to believe that games have to be hackable. If all of the game is not dependent on client side, why can't hacks be eliminated with good design? For example: If you're going multiplayer and want to prevent packets being modified between client/server, then creating a checksum of the data you're sending via some algorithm of your own and checking this as it comes through on the other side can be effective. (You will probably end up doing this anyway for various QA purposes). The same goes for most of your in-memory resources, creating a checksum at the beginning of a frame, and verifying it at various stages can yield in some pretty handy memory manipulation detection. To me, game companies just don't want to put in enough resources to stop it, especailly DayZ that is so client side dependent so far. -
With my luck, I would be KOS'd by the time I started trying to roll around and stuff. With press vest spawning at the ship, how have you not seen any other players there who may either help you or kill you?
-
Yes, and that is why I keep mentioning the 8 month time span. After 8 months, we are finally getting the first patch that addresses a serious and fundamental problem with the state of Alpha. So I do feel positive and think that maybe this is a sign that subsequent patches will start having fixes to serious problems.
