What is the rarest item you have ever found in DayZ?
tootights (DayZ) replied to trimpampano's topic in General Discussion
I've read on multiple threads that the devs are not bring it back. I'm not insisting on anything, its my understanding that it was removed and wouldn't be reintroduced. If you have info contrary, please share. Thanks. -
More stealth, less standing there thinking "will he shoot me?"

You will find the AK101 at the military base just south east of the NWAF. -

I've found a blue press vest before, but it doesn't stop bullets so whats the point? -
I think there's room for both people like you, who don't like snipers, and others who do. I wouldn't say its just you who thinks that sniping is cowardly, but I imagine not very many others. Its a completely different role and tool (scoped rifle). You're comparing apples to oranges. You can measure their effectiveness, or you can measure them by your own metric, which you say is looking them in the eye. I think that's just silly, and kiund of creepy really. It is a game and really shouldn't be viewed as actually killing someone. You seem to want to make that connection with the victim. I wonder if you want to do that because you really DONT want to kill them or you really DO want to kill SOMEONE. Some food for thought: Distance from the other human directly affects how easy it is to kill him. Bomber pilots don't have trouble laying waste to kilometers of land and killing hundreds or thousands because they don't see or hear the dead or dying. For infantry units, this takes on a different aspect, they see the fear in the other person's eyes, the sweat on his brow, the pain in his face, the blood spurting from the wound, the desperate cries for help or mercy. The enemy becomes very real and vivid, the enemy becomes someone with hopes, dreams, fears, a mother, a father, maybe a wife, just like the shooter. In a way the shooter can see the enemy as little different than himself and killing that enemy soldier is like killing oneself. This is why infantrymen are more traumatized by war than any other field. -http://www.military-sf.com/Killing.htm

What is the rarest item you have ever found in DayZ?

I've found fishing hooks, 75 round drums, the CZ carbine and magazines, engraved 1911's, . I shot a bandit at the NWAF a couple weeks before the m4 was removed, so I have a hardcore fully geared m4. I've found only one crash site, has that been fixed yet? Lots of 30rnd 10/22 mags, and a few 10rnd 10/22 mags. I kind of agree that finding a friendly player is very rare, too. I've only found a couple. +1 to leaving the coast. Its basically team deathmatch, if you're lucky enough to roll with a crew. -
Is anyone else finding current stable build.. well, unplayable?
tootights (DayZ) replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
It's like you're playing a different game or something. I haven't had any of those things happen. It sounds like you've got more going on there. -
I've noticed that if I'm standing up against a wall, and I'm looking down the scope of my AKM: I can see through walls!

Rock? Yes, we should be able to pick up a rock and throw it. If I roll a natural 20, you're knocked unconscious.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
tootights (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I really like the zombies being a legit threat. -
Why stop there? How about a winchester model 94, glocks, bolt action .22's, UZI in 9mm, .410 shotgun and slugs, remington .270 deer rifles, a 30.06 or two, 7mm WSM, etc etc etc

EXP - Map now shows the players exact position
tootights (DayZ) replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
No, it should NOT show the location the map is found. It should show the location the map originated from, or was mean to be used for. Its likely you'll find a map on the other side of the map which has walked there. -
EXP - Map now shows the players exact position
tootights (DayZ) replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Showing your current position is the function of a GPS, not a paper map... I'm not sure what confusion there can be, here. It obviously should be gone. -
EXP - Map now shows the players exact position
tootights (DayZ) replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
I think that a map which shows your current position is called a GPS unit and this isn't it. It should really be removed. -
Yeah, but when you're running through a hot zone and would like to expedite your visit, it becomes more than an annoyance. Now its become an awkward thing that results in death sometimes.

Dropped your pack and it's stuck in a tree?
tootights (DayZ) replied to barnabus's topic in General Discussion
I dropped an ammo box and it became a Christmas Tree ornament. -
Yeah I occasionally leave a note, the latest one I left told the story of me handcuffing my friend, then finding a key, and everything was ok :)

In a survival game with severely limited resources, WTF...
tootights (DayZ) posted a topic in General Discussion
... is the melee ability so very , very, very VERY VERY VERY poor? I'd think that this would be one of the first things developed, because it's an ability EVERYONE can use, no matter what loot is found. Putting up your dukes like a fucking retard? How about taking a uncommitted posture, waiting for the attacker's incursion, then responding with a tai sabaki , a simultaneous block/hold, sliding groin strike, trip, 5 strike ground combination, followed by a face stomp? I'm just saying that the current state of things leaves MUCH to be desired in the most basic physical defenses. If a person could defend themselves in game more closely with IRL, that'd be great. Anything other than being limited to fighting like a mentally retarded kangaroo. -
What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
tootights (DayZ) replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
In no way is this a twisted outcome of hackers. Hacking only became a term with a negative connotation because of people like Capn Crunch and Kevin Mitnick got busted for breaking the law. REAL hackers, unlike what gaming script kiddies call themselves, are more intrigued with how something works than ways to use their exploits nefariously. More importantly, hackers have been a constant force and this game is no different. If it can be broken, someone will break it. The most offensive thing for a company or software dev to do is to ignore the warnings or findings of a hacker kind enough to share them. You are only inviting more, and more black hattish, attacks. -
Dark Days Ahead- Ep.6: The Battle of the NEAF

very entertaining, thanks for posting it. BTW: Deer meat is called venison -
The compass is nice but unnecessary. You can navigate by the sun, also. Be sure to check the time of day, shown in 24hr, before entering a server. In the morning, the sun will be in the South-East, in the evening it will be in the South-West. What becomes easier, yet, is when you learn the map and can pick out physical landmarks and basically run to way points..

can we have a more "savaged" environment (like higher grass, bushes, vegetation in general) and more chaos in the cities?
tootights (DayZ) replied to daisho's topic in Suggestions
I think that improving the foliage would be of great benefit to the game play. It should be easy, in the woods, to hide under brush or use it as cover for movement. It's really difficult running around, even in the woods. The foliage is so sparse that everything is visible. I would love to see more underbrush than clearings in the forests. There should be game trails you can follow to water or that traverse hillsides, etc. -
As they should be difficult, I'm glad that is the case. Do you feel a long shot of a moving target should be easier? I'm glad the difficulty is high. Also, in regard to looting: Why not have the map up? That's the 'smart' thing to do, I think.

Please consider bring back the m4. I think it should be rare, but it's silly to think they wouldnt' be ANYWHERE and ammo wouldnt' be ANYWHERE. I've got an m4 on my hardcore character that I got my killing a bandit, and I've rarely used it because I can't find any ammo. wouldn't my character have a great time in search of the elusive, hard to find, 5.56 rounds or various m4 attachments and parts? I think it would be a great element in the game if there were some 5.56 out there as well as various parts and attachments, and very few complete guns spawning. The engineering team who created the 'black rifle' must have angered the gods of versatility and moderation, because even in the depths of a random survival game, there seems to always be people that dislike passionately them passionately. It's really unfortunate that silly opinions dilute the fact that these m4 are just tools and they do exist and a lot of people like them. Its ok to not like something, but I think maybe it's kind of childish to simply remove the item.
