  1. They cancelled the next CoD? Really? I want proof. To google! If this is true, I will laugh forever.
  2. I agree that this game should always have PvP. But it shouldn't be the be-all, end-all of gameplay to the point where new spawns with no weapons are being attacked by fully geared players because 'lol I'm a bandit.'
  3. If you read the OP, you'll see at no point does it say that 'duping will happen'. Not once. It sorta points out that it's pretty likely, given that it's a video game, in production. The entire point of the OP is to say 'hey, if there should happen to be duping, then we should get a hive reset.' The points in your post mean absolutely nothing. It's a different engine (even though it's really not). Rocket was given the ARMA 2 engine to fuck with, from what I can surmise. It's like giving someone the cryengine. Or the Unreal engine. You can do a lot of different things with them, but the fundamentals are still the same. Rocket isn't bound by the limitations of the engine. Oh sure. Let me rebuke that point though below. The propensity for duping will be lowered. Okay, so. All three of your well thought out points, well argued, concise arguments, mean absolutely sweet f- all. Why? Because they say 'hey, the likelihood of duping is lower!' And? What? Unless you can point me to a post from Rocket where he states concisely that duping will not be possible in any way, then my point still stands. If. IF duping occurs, then the hive should be reset or rolled back to prevent the 'ripple effect' from negatively changing the game for anyone who comes into contact with these duped weapons. Duping can happen with malicious code, bugs, glitches, and oversights. I've seen servers where the only loot was crowbars. A HIVE server. What if that was all NVGs instead? Or sniper rifles? Simply put, your arguments were pointless. It's like me saying 'hey, we should have access to body armor!' and you saying 'but there are less chances of people shooting towards you'. Or 'I want a spade for digging up sand' and you say 'but the sand on the beach is all watery.' It's not an argument, because it simply ignores the point of the post completely. Now if you said 'hey, duped gear doesn't negatively impact the game at all!' I'd happily argue with you until I'm blue in the face. But I tend not to write out massive posts when the person reading them has failed to grasp the basic concept of the original post. As long as duping has the ability to exists then the ability to reset or roll back the hive should be there as a strong option. The main hive never got reset during the mod, and it ruined the hive servers. When I was looking through the forums, I saw dozens of posts asking for a hive reset. To combat all the duped gear. That never happened. I don't want the standalone to degenerate into that if we get duping issues.
  4. You know, I had an entire post prepared. But fuck it. I'm not arguing with blithering idiots. Enjoy your unfounded sense of confidence. I hope a duping glitch is found, just so I can see you guys go 'but... this can't happen! IT CAN'T HAPPEN EVER.' Because apparently, putting in safeguards means something will NEVER, EVER, EVER happen. According to these guys. And ICU? There's an edit button. Learn to use the fucking thing. And probably learn how to argue on topic and not take things out of context. Hacking =/= duping. Duping can be done with simple glitches, as games have shown us since their first inception. You think tent duping was a hack? A simple oversight can lead to a whole host of problems.

    Standalone Zombies a bit OTT?

Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha. You know what this means? You'll have to... like... NOT AGGRO ZOMBIES IN ORDER TO LOOT. No more running through buildings to lose zombies, either. Get on the ground and CRAWL, maggot. Learn some stealth. Once the SA comes out, you either stay unseen or don't stay alive. Personally, I fucking LOVE the implications of these changes. The CoD kiddies will get frustrated and piss off. weapons and ammunition will be valuable, and zombies will be terrifying. but hey, if your idea of a 'survival game' is running into a building with a zombie train in tow, lootng it, and then moving onto the next building without a care in the world, then please, stay with the mod. The standalone will NOT be for you.
  6. So, this is a suggeston for the standalone, in regards to 'audible ranges' of gunshots. We all know that firing a large calibre weapon like an AS50 is no joke. When you're next to zombies. But when you're sitting on a hill somewhere shooting new spawns, watching your teammate's back, or taking down bandits, it's not even a problem. The zombies will hear the rifle and won't even care. What I'm suggesting is a change to the audible ranges of weapons to make them more realistic. So, for something like, say, an M16, the audible range would be eight hundred metres, while the AGGRO range would be 100-150 metres. What this means, is that within 100 metres, zombies will AGGRO to the sound of the gunshots. Beyond 100 metres, out to 800 metres, the 'audible range' of the weapon, they will wander towards the gunshot in an untidy way. Not laser-accurate like when they aggro, but a sort of meander. So after firing your sniper rifle from your overlook position, you won't be thinking 'I can stay here forever! :D' you'll be thinking 'I had better move, the zombies will be coming soon'. As is realistic. This could also apply to explosives. Put down a small explosive charge or fire a M203 grenade into one part of the city with the specific intent of drawing the hordes towards it. With the addition of constant, not-despawning zombies, a system like this would work wonders. People would think before firing, and use it as a last resort, rather than their first choice. Not to mention Z's would be harder. Right now, the respawning mechanic is the only thing that makes them ridiculous in towns. With an enfield and two or three mags, you could clear a town out of non-respawning zombies. While fun, the noise should attract zombies from further away.
  7. Fancy that, assuming that something made by one person, will be the same as something else made by the same person. Huh. Am I not to assume that there'll be zombies in the standalone? Am I not to assume that there will be shotguns, sniper rifles, tents, and vehicles? The standalone will be built on the same ENGINE as the mod. No matter what remodeling is done under the hood, the propensity for duping is STILL THERE and the damage duping can do is EXACTLY THE SAME. Not to mention that there won't be any private hives at the start! \o/ So if duping DOES become a problem, you can't escape it by swapping servers! NVG's and sniper rifles for EVERYONE! :D
  8. Unnecessary? I'm sorry, I thought we were playing a mod where there was rampant duping and no hive wipes in living memory, thereby ruining the entire fucking point of the game: finding loot. My mistake.
  9. I forgot to mention a 'chance of detection'. As in, the further out a zombie is, the less likely it is to meander towards the sound. Plus, you could definitely use explosions to clear a town of zombies. And attract every bandit in the area >:3 It adds dynamic to the action. If you try clear out all the zombies with an explosion, you have to make absolutely CERTAIN there's no one nearby, because an explosion is broadcasting your position to anyone in a few kilometres.

    AA-12 in dayz?

Yes, because a SHOTGUN is unbalanced... I mean, it's not like we have a 10-round, clip-fed, semi-automatic rifle capable of killing someone with a single shot from ranges out to 800 metres with perfect accuracy and two minutes of practise. But a military shotgun? FUCK NO. THAT SHIT'S UNBALANCED BRO. What the FUCK are you all smoking? It would be an anti-zombie weapon AT BEST. And if you're going to scream 'balance', HURR AS50. NOT BALANCED. DMR. 20 round mag. Doesn't kill you in one shot, but one shot puts you on the deck, unconscious. FAL does pretty much the same. They all have decent amounts of rounds in their mags. I'm not saying I want it in the game, but fuck me. Arguing 'balance' in the current state of the mod is a JOKE.
  11. So, night time is a bitch. We all know this. NVG's are a must. And NVG's used to only drop one in a thousand at the barracks... which is two loot points in the same place in a 200KM square map. That was pretty ridiculous. Currently, our options are: NVG's. Ridiculously rare. Chem lights. LOL. Use them for lightning. Right. Flares. Better. But bright as all buggery and don't last long. Flashlights. Or 'kill me now' beacons. That require that you give up a pistol slot, etc. I'm suggesting new 'lighting' ideas. Semi-permanent ones. Small generators hooked up to floodlights would be interesting. But not even that. Why not solar-powered garden lights? Those things are everywhere, and they're useful. The last time the power went out here (I live in the middle of butt-f- nowhere so power outages can be distressingly common), I got one of those from the garden and used it as a light source. That thing lasts near ten hours, and all it has to do is sit in the sun. Why can't we hang one of these on our character's vest? Place one down as an object in the game like a tent, even? It lasts for a reasonable amount of days, say, three days. Even if the server restarts. It's like a tent. Wanna extend the life of the lamp? Get some batteries and replace the rechargeable batteries in it already. This way, theoretically, you could light up half a town with these little lights. Or make a trail through the woods at night. Glowsticks, not providing any real illumination but being visible at long distances, up to 400-500 metres. Taping a flashlight to a pistol or a rifle is not such a stretch of the imagination. You wouldn't give up that chance. Helmets with lights on them, mounting small lights on your shoulder, etc etc. And saved the best point for last: at night, zombies are attracted to the light. Night time is half of the day. Why are we neglecting it so frigging much?
  12. DayZ should be about skill. Not finding a superweapon capable of killing anything with one shot. Helicopters included. It's an 'easy mode' button in a tough, gritty game. They don't belong.

    Bean Bag Rounds

Holy christ. How has this not been suggested yet? Bean Bag Rounds are deadly. They're painful as all buggery. And they'll knock on your ass so fast your eyes will wonder where your skull went. In gaming terms, they are: Non-lethal ammunition! So get this: bean bag rounds would be shotgun ammunition. Just like the 2 round pellets and slugs, and combinable up to 8-round for use in the other shotguns. They would do VERY little damage. Comparable to a pistol. You can use them against a zombie if you're desperate. They're capable of breaking the legs if fired into them (but then, so is a goddamn can... door... rock... bicycle... small kitten...). They're found in residential areas, to underline the fact that they're a pacification ammunition type used by police forces and not, s'far as I know, by the military. While they don't do much blood damage, they have a very high high chance of causing a knockout that can range from 30 seconds to five minutes. The effective range of them would be 100-200 metres, with a significant 'knock out chance' dropoff starting at perhaps 150 metres. But within 100 metres, you might as well call them Mike Tyson, because you're getting knocked the f- out! Also, a high 'bullet drop'. As in, the pellet drops a large amount in a short distance, to discourage 'sniping'. Bean bag bullets would be an ambush weapon. A weapon for the sophisticated bandit who wants to get up close, or a discouraging weapon for close-quarters use. Then, we get new ammunition that is knock-out capable, and we have OPTIONS! No more 'omg a survivor, kill him!' you can literally say to yourself 'well shit, he's a threat.' and then pop him with these amazing new bean bag rounds and leave him on the ground for a few minutes! \o/ If your conscience still weighs heavily on you, leave him a can of beans in his backpack while he's completely defenseless! For added flavour: A knockout-claus! When knocked out, the recipient of your pellet immediately drops whatever weapon is in his hands, on the ground! Plus whatever ammo is IN said weapon at the time. So, if the enemy is a hillsniper. He drops his AS50, and whatever magazine was loaded into the weapon at the time. So even if he is a f-ing wimp loser Alt + F4's, you still get his primary weapon! Pre-emptively for the stupider arguments against this kind of thing: If you let someone get within 100 metres of you with a shotgun, you deserve to be DEAD. Not knocked out. Just plain DEAD. No this won't make a shotgun a 'omg overpowered knockout punch'. If you ever get knocked out by bean bag ammo, be thankful! Because the alternative is slug ammo, and it has a nasty habit of causing a mild case of death. Logistically: A DMR holds 20 rounds. Any one of them will knock you out in one shot. It's accurate at ranged of up to 1000 metres. Except it'll kill you in two hits. Using the shotgun forgoes carrying a weapon like that. Or an AK. Or a sniper rifle of any kind. Or any other weapon that would be a hundred times more effectively and put you on the deck much faster. Face it: if you take the first bullet in a firefight, you're f-ed. Game over man. But with beanbag ammo, you stay alive!
  14. That's what I mean with this suggestion. 3DP: OFF is DEFAULT and UNCHANGEABLE for expert servers. I'm sure there's a way to make that happen.
  15. I've been on all sorts of servers since forever. I never saw expert servers that had third person disabled by default. And that was back when on the regular hive.

    If Rocket messaged you tomorrow...

Get rid of the point-and-click magic wands of death. I mean, the AS50 and M107. Or: Add in ACE-mod levels of bullet trajectory.
  17. I'm not suggesting 'handwritten heartwrenching tales of woe and zombicide' by 'teh m0dz' or anything like that. What I'm suggesting is, an item that you can either pick up, or craft. It occupies a slot in your character screen, it's a piece of gear. A notebook, marked as either a 'hero', 'survivor', or 'bandit' log. This 'log', when equipped, chronicles your achievements. And I don't mean 'ermhagherd I killed 20 zombies ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED!' I'm talking about simpler, much more mundane things. log entries like: Travelled to Berezino. 10 zomies killed Fell and broke my leg (lol doorglitch) Morphine fixed my leg Got shot 3 times. I think it was a M1911. Looked like Insertplayernamehere I killed Insertplayernamehere etc etc etc. just a log of events, showing who shot you. Who you shot. What you got shot with. If you killed zombies. What places you went to. General things. That way, when you shoot some new guy on the coast, you can take his survivors log and look through it. And for extra special fun, you can add a code to make the logbook recognize killers. So, if the log abruptly ends, some bandit can pick it up, and it'll read: 'My name is BanditFaceKillah, I killed Insertplayernamehere and I took his book.' Or, if you found it on a body. 'My name is Survivorguy, and I found this book'. Allowing the log to continue being written in the hands of a new player. this sort of thing might seem trivial. But imagine, if you will, if you managed to get hold of Dr Wasteland's log book? What if you held, in your inventory, the logbook that Rocket started writing? What if you were the guy written on the pages: 'My name is BanditfaceKillah, I killed Rocket and took his logbook'? How f-ing awesome would that be?
  18. Anyone who says that the AS50 and M107 are rare are blithering idiots. I picked up an M107. Then I dropped it for an AS50. And then I passed over TWO MORE AS50's. In a SINGLE life. On a SINGLE server. Heli crashes spawn anti-material rifles disgustingly often.
  19. Please then, explain to me how, in the stairwell of a multi-story building, one of the ones in Cherno, I was hit by a zombie. I had full health. I got broken leg, shock, knocked out, and instantly dead? I mean, unless the zombie had a .50 cal in it's hands. Even the other three people on the stairwell with me were sitting there like 'wtf just happened?' and it wasn't friendly fire. Guy behind me had a winchester. This game is RIDDLED with bugs and shit like this. I broke my legs earlier because I RAN PAST MY FRIEND. We had a car that was eating car tires whenever we put them in the rear right slot. I fell 40 feet out of an exploding aircraft and landed on the ground without taking a single point of damage. I've seen zombies take headshots from an Ak47 and keep coming. Case in point, I've seen a lot more unbelievable shit than being knocked out at full blood.
  20. I don't play on PvE servers. But I can see the attraction. PvE servers say that you can walk up to someone and converse with them. Try that with any player on a non-pvp server. Enjoy respawning. It's more about the community on PvE servers. And guess what? The CoD-faggots don't play on PvE servers because they can't l33t qu1cksc0p3 zombies.
  21. I like to sneak. It's good practise. I was crawling along with a crossbow (love the new quivers). I was in the town near the Balota airfield. I think the town is called Balota, too? Either way, I'm crawling along, broad daylight. But I'm in the grass. And zombies won't see me. Or will they? I see running movement. I think 'wtf, is that another player?'. But nope, a zombie. Next thought is 'another player aggro'd it?' But lolnope. The zombie aggroed to me. Prone. In the grass. A hundred metres away. MEANWHILE - ten metres away. A zombie is LOOKING AT ME. I crouch up, and start moving to get away from the bullshit zombie. This zombie DOESN'T EVEN SEE ME. Yeah, they're pretty broken.
  22. ..... I got it. 'Belieber 4eva <3'
  23. So, we got railways, right? But only on the coast. This is kinda... lame. The railway tracks are fun for running along, but not much else. We even have railway stations! I'm not suggesting that we get TRAINS or anything, but what I am suggesting, is a new railway line put in. Stretched from Cherno or Elektro, up into the northern parts of the maps. Perhaps terminating in Dubrovka, or even stretching from Cherno to Rogovo. But the most fun thing about the new railway is that it goes through tunnels! Instead of going around the mountains, or over them, it goes THROUGH them, completely negating the need to run up and down those bloody hills and slopes. And as it's underground, there could be little nooks and crannies down there. Rooms and whatnot for railway maintenance. Claustrophic places that, due to the fact that there's no electricity, become dark, pitch-blank spaces of narrow terror. Imagine finding zombies down there, in the dark? Creeping along with a flare in your hand, wondering if there's a bandit watching the other end. Maybe someone blocked the other end with a destroyed vehicle? Maybe someone is lying there, in the dark, waiting for you? The dynamics of a train tunnel, or even several small train tunnels, would be epic. Each time you travel that pitch-black terror-track, it's a gamble. Maybe someone down there is watching the tunnel with NVG's? Is that a flare at the other end of the tunnel, or are your eyes playing tricks? Is that an outline of an abandoned vehicle in the depths of the tunnel? Or is it just a shadow? Do you have the balls to venture in and find out? And even more fun would be a train station at somewhere like Robovo with connection railway tracks going from there, to Elektro, Cherno, Solichiney, and Berezino, with lots of little cross-overs and tunnels down there to get lost (and murdered) in.
  24. You think throwing grenades is ridiculously buggy? Try firing them out of an M203. Not a frag grenade? Don't bother! But yeah, the current throwing system sucks. Hey, I'd like to throw a grenade! Well, select it, slowly pull it out, watch the circle that tells you sweet fuck all, and then throw and pray it doesn't land three feet in front of you. Even trying to accurately put a grenade ten metres away on the ground to try and agro zombies to it so you can loot is a massive issue. Sometimes they go massively short, sometimes they bounce forever. Why? Who knows!
