    Am I just that lucky?

Do you want me to get a clear video of me shooting zombies in the stomach and killing them with one round? It does it with both the M1911, and the revolver. On a newly spawned character. I currently have 150~ zombies kills, and maybe 17 headshots.
  2. I don't QQ a whole lot. Is there any 'fuck hackers' in my top post? lolnope. Just pointing out that I survived all that shit to get killed by a hacker. Twenty seconds after picking up a mountain dew. If it had just been a bandit, I would have posted the same thing. Why? Because it was TWENTY SECONDS AFTER PICKING UP MTN DW, MANG.
  3. Not-so-pro-tip. If you get teleported somewhere, ALT FUCKING F4.
  4. Me and my friend actually took a calculated risk in going to a server with a medium amount of people on it (20). We were going to hunt down bandits and steal all their shit, because fuck yeah bandit skins. Buuuut a hacker got us. Yay. Me and my friend are already back at almost full operational capacity again. Just need a primary weapon for me. I'm just amazed that it was twenty seconds after picking up a mountain dew that a hacker found us and killed us both.
  5. Actually, I'd survived ghosters, about eight-nine trips to the NWAF, got my hands on four different M107's, looted cherno and elektro at LEAST five times each. I'd gotten hands on a pair of AS50's, got my friend a M249 (which he died with). Loot runs through starry. Loot runs through Berezino. At LEAST twenty chopper crashes found. I'd burned through a pair of NVG's (gave them away). And been shot to the point of passing out once or twice. And I'd ran the map at LEAST ten times over. It was far from boring.
  6. Adding realistic sniping would change the dynamic of the game entirely. They'd be able to do away with the draw distance 'fog' that limits visibility. And a sniper would actually be a valuable asset then. Well, one who knew their shit would be. I think all people who snipe in the game should have to do this. Why? Because then the 'easy mode' hilltop snipers would be completely ineffective. 'y my bullets no hit?! I QUIT!!!!!1111!!!!!1!1!!!' And that would only ever be a good thing.
  7. QQ more. Crymore. Carebear. It's an alpha. Sneak. Harden up. tl;dr Okay, now we got that out of the way, if you intended on posting any of those, a combination thereof, or something similiar, get the fuck out. Intelligent conversation only, and not your brownnosing bullshit. This game is failing because bandits. That's it. It's that simple. But this stems from design problems, I guess. And basic human (read: fucktard) nature. I don't have anything better to do, so I'm going to kill you. So, you just snuck through the fringe towns. You got some sweet hardware from the deer stands or wherever it is you get your weapons. You have a sniper rifle, and an assault rifle in your backpack. You have matches, a hatchet, food, water, heat packs, morphine. You're all set. You have everything you'll ever need. Now what? You know what? nothing. There's not a single fucking thing to do once you get this gear. You can sneak past MORE zombies. Or you can shoot them. You can roam the wilderness looking for crashed helicopters and NVG's. You can search for better weapons. but what do you do when you get these weapons? You go back to the coast and shoot the guys who just got the game. There's just nothing else to do. I personally, have never stooped to this level. I've killed a total of maybe four other players. And never have I laid in wait to shoot them. But this isn't about me. This is about every single other cunt that plays this game. You have nothing better to do once you get this gear, other than shoot PEOPLE with it. A .50 sniper rifle is not designed for use on zombies. Don't even try to pretend it is. It's used specifically for killing players. Now, let's look at it from the other side. Say you're a person who genuinely wants to help, like, say, me. I like to help people who are in a spot of bother in this game. I was running cherno/elektro server hopping at one point taking down the barbed wire that server hoppers had been putting up to fence off pretty much every single bit of real estate in the cities. But I don't interact with other players. Why? You're all bastards. Sure, maybe one in five or so won't shoot me on sight. The other four? I'm dead. I'm not restarting and losing all my shit because you decided to be an asshole. This is the mentality that has ruined this mod, on BOTH SIDES. "It's just a game, let's be COMPLETE, UTTER ASSHOLES! :D " Don't even fucking pretend to me that that isn't what 90% of you bandits feel, deep down. It's just a game. None of it matters. Well you know what? It's not a fun game. It's not a fun game when no one will help you. It's just a long, hard slog through brutal mutated zombies with the running strength of an olympic athlete pumped full of speed and on a sugar rush, looking for loot with no 'end game' in sight. Your entire gaming existence comes down to surviving. That's what this mod should be. But there are people out there who don't WANT to survive. They just want to deathmatch. You've seen them. Fuck, a lot of you have BEEN THAT PERSON. Sitting on the sidelines of the NWAF with a sniper rifle waiting for some hapless 'noob' to wander into your sights. Camping in Cherno looking to shoot noobs. 'It's just a game'. New players either convert to being a bandit, or stop playing. Or they group up with friends that they have to meet OUTSIDE the game, because ALL of you are two faced, backstabbing pricks, and then that's their clique. They don't step outside that zone. The only interaction between player groups in this game is the whoosh of bullets flying past their goddamn faces. This is half the fault of the game design, and half the fault of YOU, the player. Every time you camp in Cherno killing noobs, every time you snipe some guy who's arrived at NWAF for the first time. Every time you betray and backstab just for the sheer glee you get in your heart for being an anonymous cunt over the internet. This is what is destroying the game. And don't even try to pretend it's not. Or next time you see someone who's actually armed, walk up to them and say 'friendly'. Go on. I'll wait. Eventually, the supply of fresh-faced, naive recruits WILL diminish, at which point you'll all have what you want. You'll have a deathmatch in Cherno. You'll have a deathmatch at the NWAF. You'll have a deathmatch called Chernarus. Because that's the direction this community is DRIVING this game. New players are forced away by the constant banditry, or convert to the banditry way of playing the game. I know I have. If I see a player, I don't help them. I hide. And if they see me, I shoot. I was a fresh faced recruit once, hoping to actually play a survival game where survivors were pitted against bandits, and zombies fucked up everyone. But now, everyone is a bandit, and no one can be trusted. Ever. This isn't a survival simulator any more. It's a bandit simulator. And guess what? The bandits are winning. And to the people who will say 'hey, I'm not a bandit! I help people!' Yeah. Welcome to the 1% buddy. Congratulations. For the blatently retarded. I don't get killed by bandits. I actually have no problem with bandits. I have no problem killing them, or avoiding them. I can kit myself up to full capacity without meeting a single other player. Woopity FUCKING do. What I don't like banditry or the bandits way of gaming, is what it's done to the game. No one tries to help others, and avoids all contacts with others, because 4 out of every 5 people play the game as a bandit and will kill you. If not for your loot, then just to be a cunt. To the blatently retarded, obviously blind: I have NEVER BEEN SNIPED. I don't get killed by bandits! When I do, I suck it up and start over! Can I not make this more clear? This is not a complaint of 'bandits killed me waaah' it's a case of 'Bandit mentality killed what could have been an awesome game, waaaaah!'
  8. I think this is a bug. And if not, then fuck. I server hop all the time. Why? Because I live in Australia. Australian servers are hacked up the ass, always over full, and are generally night time when I want to play. So fuck that. And finding servers in america that don't just go 'LOL HIGH PING *KICK*' is a fucking chore.

    Why this mod is failing

Looool. I love guys like this. way to prove your inability to comprehend anything beyond the most basic of English. :D Not QQ'ing, not a noob (50 day old characer, so go fuck yourself), I'm 25, which puts me ten years older than the average forumgoer, and I'm not going anywhere. So kindly, good sir, get the fuck out and ne'er return. Lest your prove your stupidity further.

    Why this mod is failing

The thing I've been trying to point out since the beginning is this. The game is about finding loot and surviving. The end game currently consists of hoarding loot, and nothing more. Which is too easy once you know your shit. Bandits and greifers alike kill new guys and 'survivors', contributing to the KOS mentality. The KOS mentality is futher expounded by a lack of game mechanics (Which is now fixed, and should be slowly righting itself again.) The thing is, the people who WANT to deathmatch in DayZ are getting what they want. And they CONTINUE to get what they want well past the 'end game' of a survivor. Even regular bandits don't have much to do once they have all their gear, except hunt other players. but what point is there in that when they already have top tier loot? So basically, people eventually leave this game either from boredom, or being killed far too much. Survivors who would otherwise play this game for the 'friendship' element, the people you all mistakenly call 'carebears', are pushed away by the constant KOS, and greifers. What it will boil down to eventually is a glorified deathmatch set in a 225KM square map with some nuisance easy to kill NPC's camping all the weapon spawns. Unless action is taken to take the power away from the greifers and bandicks. This is already beginning to happen. If you study my original post closely, I never said anything about getting rid of bandits. I never made any allusions to wanting them gone. The only bandits I would want gone are the ones who camp on the hills around Cherno and elektro, killing woefully underprepared players before they can have a chance of fighting back. But they're not bandits. They're plain greifers. Hacking is a problem, yes. But the greifing problem was one that was going to be much worse. Why? Because the game systems catered to deathmatchers and greifers, that's why. There's no mid game content still, and there WAS nothing to discourage banditry (fuck yeah bandit skin back \o/), DayZ was catering to the deathmatchers, and it was becoming more and more apparent. the KOS was the most notable way this was visible. Just reading threads on the forums, you could get a sense of how bad it was. 'I just got killed when I had no weapon, no items, and was calling friendly'. I saw this and variantions of it so many times over. I could easily see the direction the mod was taking. Why? Because when you cater to a certain audience, those are the people you will attract, and retain. And DayZ was retaining the deathmatchers, attracting more, and scaring off the survivors. Banditry was winning. Unanimously. Maybe it still is? I'm going to wait and see. But by creating this thread, I was using my god-given right to express my opinion. I wasn't bitching, I wasn't crying. My character is on day 50+ of survival, And I'm rollig with an ever-increasing cadre of players. And with the new patch, I can hunt bandits! \o/ But I was expressing my disappointment in the direction the game was taking. And if any of you don't like it? Well, I just don't fucking care. :)

    Why this mod is failing

Erm, how does the 'alive characters' number mean anything? 1,051,501 unique players 841,126 alive. That just means that upwards of 200K people died, and didn't bother making a new character. You know, ragequit. And it may not deter you, and your group. But guess what? Your new bandit headgear will tell anyone who sees you what kind of player you are, and they can take steps accordingly.

    Why this mod is failing

I'll take that guarantee. What do I get when you fail that guarantee? I just found out that the bandit skin persists even through respawns. once that becomes common knowledge, people will be even LESS inclined towards banditry, and more inclined to, you know, actually play the game as a game, instead of a deathmatch. I love how you haven't addressed my arguments once. You're like a little kid sitting on the ground crossing his arms going 'NO!' This thread was never about 'bandits' per se, but rather the people who aimlessly kill others. And with this new patch, they're going to have an infinitely harder time. Why? B ecause they're going to be noticable. Even after they RESPAWN. Bwahaha. Oh lordy I hope you're one of those bandits.

    Why this mod is failing

It's already fixing things. Why? because being a bandit has discentives now. VISIBLE discentives. People on the beach might think twice about just murdering everyone they see senselessly, beccause if they get marked as a bandit, people like ME, will be taking them down.
  14. Xianyu

    Bandit skin is awesome

That's the question, innit? Is there any effect on your skin if you're wearing the camo/ghillie suit and you're a bandit? Or are they both exactly the same as always?

    Why this mod is failing

I'm blaming it on a little of both. People point out that the game is what you make it. And it IS a sandbox environment. I've got a 49 day old character with very good gear, and I play near every day without resorting to murdering sprees. It isn't JUST a case of mechanics. But they are most definitely a huge contributing factor.

    Why this mod is failing

You know, I was going to go through a whole rant showing how the stats you hold so highly actually PROVE that bandits are a much bigger problem than you obviously think they are. But fuck that. I'm done talking at you. You'll have to tell me one day, how nice it is to be immune to logical arguments through sheer ignorance. It must be nice. Fact is, Rocket saw the problem. Rocket took measures to fix it. So guess what? Fuck you. If you think bandicktry isn't a problem, then riddle me this: Why is the guy who made the mod taking measures against bandicktry?

    Why this mod is failing

    >129 beans for the post saying the game is broken >Tiny minority Hold onto that dream. For every person that gave me beans, there's five other people who don't use the forums or already quit the game.

    Why this mod is failing

Why are you fighting so hard to apply your lack of comprehension on my thread? No one cares, mate. Stop beating a dead horse. Unless, you know, you're into that.

    Future of sniping in DayZ

Yeah, the sniper rifles are really, really common, relatively. In the last few days alone, my and my friend have gotten our grubby mits on two AS50's, and three M107's.

    Dismemberment in standalone?

I want to see this. So much. Not because I'm a violent person or nuthin. Just because shooting a zombie with a .50 and taking their leg off would be so. Fucking. Awesome. It would honestly make shooting zombies more fun if there was a visceral sense of bullets hitting bodies, instead of them just falling over.
  21. Xianyu

    Why this mod is failing

Yes, because I couldn't possibly be referring to the state of the game as opposed to the unique player count.
  22. Xianyu

    Why this mod is failing

Wow. I know a few necrophiles who wouldn't want to touch the limp remains of this thread, and yet people keep dragging it up with ancient rites of necomancy or some shit. If you people still think that the current state of the game is perfect, and that bandicktry isn't a problem, then please, take it up with the 125+ 'dumb shits' who gave my OP beans. They seem to disagree. I mean, shit. Even Rocket is taking measures against it. kthnxbai.

    Bayonet

Just like the title says. A weapon with a bayonet on it. In a zombie apocalypse, a blade on the end of a metre-long rifle is your very, very best friend. I'm not suggesting that you put a bayonet on the damn .50's. But an M4 with a bayonet (no other attachments, for balance sake) and the Lee Enfield with a bayonet would be very, very nice. Both for humiliating player kills, and silently taking down that one fucking zombie that ALWAYS sees you from sixteen miles away. Bayonet would merely be an alternate firing mode, accessed by pressing 'f'. Bayonet would exclude all other attachments, for balance reasons. And would only be available on a few weapons. Plus, it'd be realistic! Maybe even let us shove a bayonet on the end of our weapon by combining a rifle with a hunting knife.
  24. This is a suggestion designed to reduce the impact of 'meta' gaming. Gaining knowledge on your opponents through use of knowledge that you don't gain from the game, per se. I'm talking about zombie spawning. What do you look for when you want to know if a player is nearby? Zombies. You don't look for the people themselves, because where there are players, there are zombies. Where there are no players, there are no zombies. I suggest doing away with this completely to give the game a real sense of immersion. And an ability to stealth through a town without being seen. You get within 200 metres or so of something, and it spawns zombies. This sucks balls. Anyone who sees those zombies knows that a player is nearby. Especially so for those who know what they're doing. What I'm suggestion, is zone spawns. Say you run near Kamenka. There would be an invisible 'zone' around Kamenka restricted mainly to line-of-sight, and anyone in this zone spawns zombies. So, when you look at Kamenka, there are zombies there. Because you're within the 'line of site zone'. That way, you'd never know if a player was in Kamenka. Why? Because whenever you can see Kamenka, there's zombies there. Major cities could be split into 2-3 zones. Like, say, Cherno east, Cherno west, and Cherno north. Any players in these zones would cause zombies to spawn ALL OVER those zones. So anyone looking at Cherno from any distance would ALWAYS see zombies in Cherno. This goes for all installations. The zones themselves would exist within about a 500 metre radius, I assume. And any further out from the zone that has line of sight. Like, say, the hill overlooking the power station at Elektro. Of course, in the big, open cities, like Berezino, this could cause lag with zombies, but two people at different points in Berezino can put themselves in places to spawn zombies across the board. Zone spawns would add an insane amount of immersion, for the following reasons: Zombies wouldn't despawn as fast. they would 'wander' naturally into the wooded area's surrounding the cities. You'll never know if a player is in the area by looking for zombies. You'll only be able to look for bodies or the players themselves to seek players. Sniper rifles will become actual anti-zombie weapons, because zombies will spawn OUTSIDE of their effective sound range. The M107 will never be fired at zombies comfortably. Why? Because zombies spawn within 200 metres. They hear an M107 at 450. The world will come alive. Zombies won't just appear out of thin air when you enter a new region. They'll be there, waiting for you. A veritable HORDE of them. The actual number of zombies will increase, and the choice of weaponry will have a larger impact on your game. This is two-fold. There will be more zombies to kill, and because more zombies are spawned at once, if you fire that dinner bell, you're going to attract a LOT MORE zombies than you would now. Planning a route through the zombies would become more important, as would teamwork/communication. zombies won't just be a fringe threat. They'll be EVERYWHERE. Their locations will also be more 'organic', because they wouldn't have spawned in as you got close and be congregated at the loot points they spawned at. They'd be literally everywhere, because they would wander from point to point long before you got close. Zone spawns would allow 'zone pacification'. Say, a team of people in Cherno starts eliminating zombies. They might reduce the zombie count in Cherno by a significant amount, and because the zombies are spawned by ZONE, they wouldn't respawn immediately, thereby making cherno 'safer' for the time being. Course, this would take a fuckload of coding. But it'd remove the biggest single element of cheap 'meta' gaming. I see people complaining about ghosting and server hopping (And I've done it myself) but I've not seen a single bitch thread about the single most broken mechanic in the game. Think about it. You probably don't even realise just how dependant you are on the game-breaking zombie cues. Imagine if you had to literally check every corner when wandering through Cherno because you never knew if someone was there? Removal of it will make this game a thousand times more immersive and scary, both because of zombies and because you will have no 'zombie cue' to tell you when a survivor is nearby, and especially, when a survivor is far away. This suggestion if borderline for Arma 2 DayZ, but more for the standalone. Not sure if the servers would have a bitch fit with zone spawning.
  25. Like the title says. Lookit this: A little after the minute mark, you can clearly hear a .50 round crack past my characters head. It was CLOSE. Near hits like that should cause shock status. Why? because as soon as I ran into the trees, I could have logged off, without consequence. I didn't log off though, I ran further down to that barn and took cover to see if he would follow. He didn't. It's not in the vid, but about 3 seconds after the video ends, the zombies in the server dropped from 52 to 25 or so in an instant. The little bitch logged off when he couldn't kill me. but if you're shooting at someone with a .50, they shouldn't be able to abort without consquence. I mean, shit, at any point during my run, I could have logged off and escaped harm. Easily. And then logged back in on another server without a care in the world.
