The AS50 has different levels of zoom? Why was I never told this?! The main thing I really didn't like about the AS50 was the fact that it couldn't do the double-zoom thing and the default zoom was already pretty weak. But being able to get another level of magnification? Ugh. My entire life has been a lie!
-
Ahhh, the fact that it uses M107 rounds instantly increases its value beyond that of the M107. I still prefer the M107 though. Just a better scope, really. I don't remember, does the AS50 double-zoom? Either way, I don't really have cause to shoot at vehicles. Not with a sniper rifle. I'd aim for the driver and try to get the vehicle unharmed. Thanks for the info guys.

If you could make 3 specific changes what would they be?
Xianyu replied to Sula's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1. 'Hardcore' servers for the people who don't have a life. Lower chance of military gear spawning, lower food spawn rates. Zombies are faster and have more health. Animals are rarer. Vehicles are pretty much non-existant, ammunition is exceptionally scarce and even regular guns are rare. Spawns are randomized completely (so no whoring out the barracks looking for military loot). And the hardcore servers have their own HIVE. 2. a 'squad' ability. The squad leader makes the squad, and then uses the context menu while next to someone else to add them to the 'squad'. They get their own radio channel that works out to like, 500 metres or so (to simulate radios), and there is a hud marker/some other form of identification for the squad. 3. a method implimented during all DayZ installations that allows every user to punch the other person in the face if they're found to be using scripts. -
I thought the view distance was like... 1200 metres on a clear day with eagle vision on? I have never, ever thought to myself 'that guy is too far away to hit'.

I gave up on this game a while back from hackers. But me and a friend discovered an interesting little thing that I think many people wouldn't realise... For those of you that don't know this, be prepared to be kicking the absolute shit out of yourself for not knowing this sooner. For those that DO know this? Move along quietly, please. You know zombies and supplies, right? You sorta just put your crosshairs over them and see if they have anything because the cursor changes, right? WRONG MOTHERFUCKER. Many items on zombies do NOT actually show up with that context menu. Things like food, water, ammunition, etc etc etc. If you, like me, checked bodies by 'glancing' at them, then you've missed out on so. much. shit. I had a 55 day old character. And I did not know this one little thing. And I'm wagering there's a lot of people out there who don't. And there you go, my one piece of wisdom. Check all bodies with the 'g' key. inb4 the people who already knew this come in and try to act superior. P.S. don't touch mountain dew. That shit is not worth it.

Already quit game, lemme pass on some wisdom
Xianyu replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Look back through my 'topics' page. You'll find the thread I made that WAS about quitting. This was about passing on some knowledge that I hadn't exactly told anyone else yet (because fuck you guys, that's why). But since I don't play the game any more, I don't give any more fucks about holding on to information like this. -
Already quit game, lemme pass on some wisdom
Xianyu replied to Xianyu's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Actually, there's not anything in any documentation telling you this. I did this for the several months I played the game. When I found out about the fact that zombies carry loot that doesn't show up with the crosshair-over thing, I kicked myself. Repeatedly. A lot of people I play with didn't realise this. And with the influx of new players, it will be especially unknown to lots of people. As for why I'm still here? what can I say? I'm waiting for Battlefags to get off their ass and DO something about the rampant hacking. Maybe then I'll come back. I'll never know if they fix something if I'm not here. -
This would be mainly for the standalone. These are on of the most common improvised weapons since WW2. They're easy to make, the things to make them is common and varied, and they have several uses. First off: Burning shit. Who doesn't like to burn shit? I mean, c'mon. Fire is fun. Grass. Buildings. Forests. People. Zombies. Everything burns. It can be used as a signaling tool (Fire ahoy! :D ) It can double as a weapon (because being on fire hurts). It can be an anti-building tool, like, certain buildings could be set afire and burn entirely. Imagine a guy camping in a building. You know he's there, but you don't want to run in there and get shot in the face. Just invite Mr Molotov to the party and let him and his sexy russian accent take care of your problems! Even in Soviet Russia, Molotov burns YOU! But in all seriousness. An improvised molotov cocktail would add flavour to the game. It probably would take a while to kill zombies. They'd be attracted to the flames, perhaps congregating around it. Against players, being on fire would SUCK. It would be like the bleeding effect, except, you know, bright and hot-like. And nothing quite says 'hey, fuck you!' like having a faceful of burning glass and makeshift propellant.

The sniper rifles are OP. Don't give me the bullshit answer that 'every gun is overpowered if you can aim'. Yeah, me you, in a field 700 metres from eachother. I'll use an AS50, you use an assault rifle. Let's see who wins. The AS50 and M107 require NO SKILL to use. Just put in range, pull trigger. Even if you hit their fucking toe, they're down to -20,000 blood. From FULL HEALTH. It's beyond ridiculous. The best sniper rifle you can find should do 10,000 blood damage (for the damage scale) and then the next best should have 7000 damage and very little recoil for follow up shots. The .50 cals are just simply bloody overpowered. And the only people who don't agree are fucking idiots or hill snipers.

100'000 humanity, i want my Jesus skin!
Xianyu replied to SoulShaper2's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think that shooting your friend in the leg over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again qualifies you for any saintly skin. -
Erm, the FN FAL is a pretty common fixture at crash sites. It's more common NOT to find one, than to find one. I've personally passed over at least ten FN FAL's. The night vision version is kinda cool....but largely useless.

Scale down loot spawns on low pop servers?
Xianyu replied to falconne's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Right. Force everyone to play on high population servers, in a game overflowing with sniping campers with a wannaba-hack point-and-click insta-death weapon, and a game where high-pop servers are CONSTANTLY, CONSTANTLY under repeated attacks by hackers faggot script kiddies. Eeyup. Punish people for playing on low population servers. Really, really smart idea. -
Date/Time: Just now. What happened: Crazy shit. That's what. Where: Elektro, obviously. Well, the outskirts. What you were doing: Running So, here's what happened. I logged into this server, I forget it's name. Something-izzle. The server notes when you log in say 'Hosted in your mothers basement!' or something, and something to the effect of 'your girlfriend is a good ride!' After I logged in, I noticed a peculiar thing: the peripheral vision you get when something is at the very edge of the screen, the white dots? They were appearing ALL THE TIME. I ran around for a little bit, because I was confused. I could see pigs, rabbits, sheeps, goats, zombies, and I think birds, with peripheral vision white orbs, but even when they were in the centre of my screen. I crawled to Elektro to see if it worked on other players (no I didn't intend to, and I did not at any time, shoot anyone). First picture: http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/542930855822489225/401CD11428BD8F484CF81EC4A6ACB639BFAFA319/ Now, you can sortakinda see the orbs through the buildings. They're hard to see because the picture is static, but when you're moving, they are SUPER visible. Now, in the effort of finding out how big of an exploit this could be, I managed to spot this guy: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/542930855822486716/B3066B583EF8F04006293A6D5EF5F44E306388AC/ He was on top of the hospital. Probably bean camping. I didn't shoot him, I probably should have. http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/542930855822492193/6EE7D0FEC7C71C1CECC98EB784C8BF84D47006C5/ http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/542930855822498772/2AB42E57F27C1104BD9EE1A970D7B99417166B2F/ As you can see, in all of the pictures, he was NOT visible through the peripheral vision, so it couldn't be an exploit used to find players. Once I figured out how big of an exploit it could be, and gathering information, I logged out. The peripheral markers did not appear in either the scope of my CZ 550, nor my binoculars. This state lasted long enough for me to run from the hills above Kamyshovo, to Dobryy mountain. Version installed is most current for both beta, and DayZ. 1.7.1.5, and 93965. I don't remember which server I was on. Something-izzle. My system specs are: Intel i7 1.6 Ghz Quad core, 8 logical processors. 4gig of RAM. A solid state 130 gig hard drive, running Windows 7 x64. Timeline: I logged in. It happened. I checked to see if it showed players (it didn't) and logged the f- out. This is the first time I've seen, or heard of this. Also I saw a rainbow over Elektro.
-
Ahahahaha. No. you want easy kills? Go camp Elektro, noob. Or learn to use the DMR. Either way, you don't get your wannabe-hack point-and-click kill at night. Learn to snipe, all your problems are gone.

You know what? Fuck this 'mod'. Fuck this 'alpha'. From the get go, this thing has been PLAGUED by problems. From shoddy coding to downright STUPID design decisions. Yes, let's remove bandit skins and turn the game into a deathmatch. Battle-eye is a fucking JOKE. I've never seen an anti-hack system that fails so fucking spectacularly. Do the guys at battle eye headquarters just sit around with their thumbs up their asses? This is a legitimate question. In the past two days, I've been killed by hackers three times. The most recent hacker managed to nuke the entire server of GB #500, because, lol, someone managed to KILL HIM. He was teleporting around randomly killing everyone. I guess someone caught him before he got to them, so he just nuked the server. This has caused my game to cease working. Logging in now just gives me a black screen, with no error message. I can even log in to non-hive servers, so it's not a problem on my end. It's a problem with the HIVE itself. And then, the community. It's a fucking alpha. WE GET IT. Blow it out your ass you over-entitled, arrogant fucks. It's a fucking alpha. Which means that people who play the game POINT OUT THE FLAWS. And right now, I'm pointing out that the alpha is flawed in every single way. From the design, to the execution, to the shittiest fucking community I've seen since 12 year old COD kiddies. In its current state, the game is completely unplayable. Why bother going through all the trouble of getting my loot the proper way when I can just buy a fucking script? What's the point of playing the game when a 12 year old getting his money from his fucking mommy can buy a script and ruin EVERYTHING? Yeah, I don't get attached to my gear. me and my friend burned through an M107, a ghillie suit, a M249, two CZ550's, the thermal scope assault rifle, various sidearms, backpacks, GPS, whatever. All in the last three days. We don't have any problems finding gear. In fact, it's fucking EASY. But when a hacker just ends your life with the push of a button? Consistently? No. That's fucking bullshit. And then, there's the GAME ITSELF. lolololololololol. One little problem, and you're effectively kicked off the HIVE servers with no actual chance, ever, of getting back on the fucking things. Enjoy your black loading screen. If this is even a tenth of an indication of what the finished product will be, then I wouldn't waste a fucking cent on it. Now come on, all of you Rocket-worshipping shitstains come at me and say 'QQ more' or just 'good riddance' when you know for fact that every single fucking point I made is the truth. Awesome concept Rocket. Too bad you pulled it off with all the style and ability of the cameraman for the Paris Hilton Home Video set!

I've respawned maybe five/six times in the last two days, due to killing myself to get closer to where I died from hackers. And the one time I am involved in a server-nuke, I suddenly can't log into the HIVE. So unless BattleEye did a critical update in between my hackerdeaths, then I doubt that's the problem. Plus, it doesn't interfere with me joining non-hive servers, which are protected by Battle-Eye. It doesn't really matter anyhow. I'm bored of Chernarus. I survived 55 days. The last two days just showed me what the game really is. A minefield of hacks and glitches. Any server with more than five people is an automatic target. I was on a server with eight people on it when we were hack-nuked. I've already uninstalled my game, so it doesn't really matter. never said I didn't like the game. I'm just ceasing to play something so broken.
-
How do I know it's the HIVE? Because I can log into non-hive servers on both 1.7.2.4, and 1.7.2.5 with no problem. It's only when I log into proper HIVE servers that I get a black loading screen. My friend told me that I was kicked for 'client no responding' while I was only just looking at the loading screen myself, because I tried logging into a server he was on.
-
Not trolling. I am legitimately leaving. I just want one final dose of the COD kiddies in the community coming to defend their dying mod. I might try this when it goes standalone. But if I even hear about a single hack, I won't bother. It's still built on an engine run by the same designers, and will probably be using Battle-Blind for their anti-hack. Also, that final line. Made me giggle.
-
I can't even restart any more, because the HIVE itself won't link with me, or whatever the fuck the problem is. I could handle hack cunts. I can avoid those. But the game system itself is fucked. You've all seen it. Spawning in debug plains. Losing items, gear, and shit for no reason. As it stands now, it's broken.
-
That's what's happened. I was killed by a server nuke on GB #500 Sense of Existence, and now, I can't load into ANY SERVERS. The most I got was ONCE, I was able to choose male or female. And now, every single server I try just gives me a black loading screen FOREVER.
-
Because survivors are punished every single fucking time they don't shoot someone on sight, because that person is going to kill them just to be a cunt. That's why bandits are punished. Because survivors are.
-
Hacker name was 'Coen'. He was killed, and then the entire server was nuked. Was killed by a teleporting ghillie-suited bandit with a M4 prior to the incident. Couldn't screenshot the list of killed players.
-
For serious. I've survived, to count: Being shot at by a .50 (got video evidence). At least 6-7 bandit encounters (three of them ended with dead bandits). Glitches. Broken legs. I caught a cold and me and my friend had to trek from Starry to Cherno to get medicine to cure me. I'd even survived holding a can of Mountain Dew in my backpack for an hour or so. But one hacker destroyed it all. Me and a friend were north-east of the Elektro firehouse, at that one little shed. We were looting a tent there, with the intent of destroying it with one of the many grenades we had purloined. There were no footsteps. No sounds of crawling. Just instantly, my friend took a round to the head and was dead. The bullet came from three feet away. I was already moving around the shed, confused as to where the gunfire was coming from. It was a big open field. So I turned, run around, and try to draw a bead on the player to see where I got shot from. I get shot, break my legs, and am bleeding on the ground all of a sudden. As I look around, I see rounds (M14, I believe) being fired at me from THIN AIR not three metres away. No player visible. I die. P.S. I picked up a can of Mountain Dew from the tent not twenty seconds before we both died.
-
So, I recently died...after 55 days of survival. That means that I was alive before the nerf of weapons. Someone told me that the old weapons remain unnerfed...I believed them. That is, until I handed my revolver off my regulator teammate so he could have a one-shot-zombie-kill weapon. He'd never had one (started playing after the nerf). Now... he goes out, shoots a zombie. Takes four rounds. Gives me the revolver back. I take down six zombies with six shots. That was before I died. So, I respawn. find a makarov. Don't even get to shoot it before I find a revolver. I don't give any fucks, so I just ran through the northern end of cherno. Of course I aggro'd zombies. They run up on me, I begin to calmly shoot them in the head as they come through the doorway. Eventually, there gets to be too many, and they're moving too much for me to aim for the head, so I just start shooting them in the stomach when I notice something...very odd. My minute-old character, using a freshly spawned revolver, is killing zombies with one round to the chest. I run to the church, pick up and M1911. Same result. One round, one kill. Chest, stomach, leg. Whatever. Long range shots still need a double-tap, like pre-nerf days. I give my M1911 to my friend to test. Takes four rounds to drop a zombie. He gives it back. I kill zombies with one round. ...Wat.
