  1. My advise would be to get a mic, even if it's only a $2 one that sounds terrible. The ability to communicate quickly can make all the difference when coming into contact with other players. I'm not saying you won't get killed, you still will, but there are the odd one or two who will spare your life and they are the people that make the Dayz experience awesome.

Yeah I may have to, because of the location of my PC it can be a pain using one but I suppose it is a must.

No mic = bandit = get put down behind the shed.

There used to be more. They're still tweaking them. The few zombies you do encounter work better than they ever have, though,

I do understand where your going with the bandit situation, just a pain because I haven't got one. At least the zombies are getting sorted :)

I haven't been shot on sight but I found pressing f1 when you do see a player very handy for example I was looting a hospital and going upstairs I bumped into a guy who had his gun ready we were both scared I pressed f1 and he replied with the same I then followed his direction telling me to wait until he leaves I go to the roof watch him leave then set off myself.

I am going to get a better mic I don't have a good one but some people will just shoot on sight for no reason.

Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a go when I'm next on.

  2. So yesterday was my first on DayZ, played about 4-5 hours worth to try and get to grips with it. Now I'm happy to deal with the games problems itself, after all it is an Alpha game, but my general game experience hasn't been overly great. Now I know bits about DayZ, and it's layout from watching FrankieOnPCin1080p as I've been stuck in bed for the last week.

Now I've come over from playing Infestation: Surviour Series, so maybe I'm comparing it too much to that. But my first problem I found is that I have no map. Now I spent most of my time wandering around looking for where the hell I am, and while I found the maps online useful, I couldn't get a clear representation of where I was. When I finally found 3-4 map segments, I found that I couldn't pinpoint my location, which was a pain. I ended up running around until I found the coast, then walk all the way down to the broken ship so that I could find exactly where I was. Was a bit of Argo but I guess I'll get used to it.

My second problem is that every player is shoot on sight. Now I know the point is you can't be shot if you can't be seen, however when a new player has no gear, I don't see the point in scouting around until I've found something worth while. There have been a few times where I've gone into a house, looked around, found nothing and then someone snipes me as soon as I step out the door. Now I haven't got a microphone which doesn't overly help as I have to type to talk to people. But even just one experienced player stopping and giving new players a hand or bit of advise would be really good.

My last point, which I expect to be down to the fact thst it is an Alpha game, is that there really aren't many Zombies. I think in my total playing time I came across maybe 5? Now I'm happy with that if I'm just wandering around the woods, but when in cities I thought there would be massive hoards! As said, I presume this will be added in when the game is finished and ready for a proper release, but at times I just want a zombie to give me some company.

Anyway off I go to play some DayZ, maybe my 2nd day will be more successful.

    Peace.
