Well, wouldn't call them cowards. Can also be used for, like, counter sniping or covering your friends who're looting a town or whatnot. However, the only reason for me to try to shoot someone on 600m range is if he's pointing a sniper at me. Otherwise avoidance or some warning shots or whatnot would do better ... most people are not a threat 600m away.

Seen 'em in police stations and both kinds of two-story red brick buildings ... and I'm pretty sure I found some in the trunk of a car.

A friend and I had a fantastic zombie experience for the first time
LeeVanSpliff replied to Sirwarriant12's topic in General Discussion
I guess there will be more reason to shoot zombies once they implement getting sick form being bitten by zombies. Right now, if anything goes wrong you might have to bandage yourself and you might have to patch your jacket. If you might start needing antibiotics if you get hit, you will be more inclined to take them out on range. And yeah, does indeed sound fun! I bet any player that heard it thought a large gun fight was going down. -
[M4A1] - STANAG 60 round magazine should have to be reloaded after 30 rounds

Yeah, I think it's a very good idea. -
Civilian clothing items that you'd like to see in the game
LeeVanSpliff replied to LeeVanSpliff's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I was thinking that too! Something along these lines: I'm just not sure the game will feel good about clothes that cover both the pants and the shirt. -
If you'd have played the mod you'd have known what a pain in the ass combat loggers were. You tried to do what they did and now you get to start over. I do not feel bad for you. You tried to combat log in a military base - because you don't like the high risk that comes with the good loot. Also, what's with this "ONLY MY OPINION MAY BE HEARD! THIS IS MY THREAD!" attitude? It's a forum man. Don't let people disagreeing get to you.

Hmm I see the point dude. I just foresee a lot of "My character died for no reason, this game sux!" posts. In a game like this, people want to know what killed them. But of course, 2 level buildings also kill you, so why not a stalking zombie after logout. If they went for stalkers, I guess a good solution would be not stalking someone who initiated logout or something.

When I played Silent Hunter 3 without loading (except when quitting and starting up again, of course ... like 'hardcore' mode, just self imposed). Managed to stay alive as a U-Boot ace until the autumn of '43 ... hundreds of narrow escapes and near-misses behind me. Every singe part of my Type VII had been hit by depth charges at least once. Half my crew had been wounded. Anyway, autumn of '43 off the French coast at La Rochelle, this British naval bomber places a bomb right in my control tower. My hyper-experienced crew tried desperately to fix the leaks and pump out the water but it's too late. I sank till the boat's hull collapsed.

I like the idea. I don't think it should be implemented though, since it would conflict with the logout timer, which is there to help us get rid of combat logging. Would be sort of annoying to be hunted down in the 30 seconds after you log out by a zombie that has caught your scent.

zombies should have attracted to player's voice

Hahahahaha! You do realize that you write "Please vote and comment if you like" in your original post? And yes. Yes you did actually call me a troller. You did some creative editing of your own post half an hour after you posted it at 05:15 PM yesterday. I, however, had posted my reply about ten minutes before the editing. If you want to see what your post looked like before, please do read the text I quote. And yes, I knew the "condor omelet" deal would be totally lost on you. You're not the only person on this forum though. You can't really demand that I dumb EVERYTHING down to where you get it. If you can't handle contradiction, don't argue your point. And don't put "Please vote and comment" in your post if any comment makes you fly off the handle like that. For your own sake too, it can't be pleasant to be that angry about something that insignificant. I'd advice you cut down on the swear words. It does nothing to offend me, and it makes you appear like a fool. Any actual point that you might have had is completely lost. -
Bug I'm pretty sure. Mostly has to do with above-the-ground positions (like, first floor and above). Broke my leg four times sitting absolutely still in the second floor of a building in Svetlojarsk. Edit: oh and I never log out in buildings. DayZ always saw fit to kill you in creative manners when you did stuff like that.

What items would you kill someone for? An MP5K?
LeeVanSpliff replied to HeroAtDay BanditAtNight's topic in General Discussion
Don't give up! It's worth it! Think about how cool you look! -
Okay, the other day (after .47) my friend and I encountered this player. We engaged him in conversation. The guy responded, but only my friend could hear the guy talk. I heard nothing from the guy, but heard my friend talk "double", i.e. heard him on both TS and VOIP when he held down his 'caps lock' key. Gotta admit, I'd have been inclined to shoot the guy for refusing to communicate if my friend hadn't been there! Like five-ten minutes later, we run into another guy that we can both hear perfectly well. Anyone else seen similar stuff? Anyone know if this is reported? I checked the bug tracker to see if I could find something similar, but only found stuff with people being able to hear no VOIP at all.

Doesn't seem like it's known, I'll go report it. Thanks for the input.

Sir, I can assure that I'm not a troller! No, I did not see the logic! That is exactly why I posted, actually. I see how what you do is harder, but I think I argue fairly concisely and comprehensibly that there are undeniable similarities between what you do and what we do. 1) I never asked for your apology. Personally I don't think you have anything to apologize for in terms of game play. 2) I realize it's hard to do. Been there, done that. But it ties into the whole "DayZ psychic" argument? Psychics exist when things are hard enough? On a quasi-related note I'll go watch Starship Troopers now. Never called you an anti-social geek. I said that "I play multiplayer games to be social". I can assure you that it's correct! Team Speak has a hell of a lot better sound quality. And I would rather spend two hours talking to the guys over that than I'd spend 1 hour reading steam messages and 1 hour listening to chat in worse sound quality. And fortunately that's my choice. Again, emergencies make people psychic? It appears twice in your initial post (which, I assume, is why 'words' is plural) and I do believe I understand it in both contexts, Sir! That is great for you. I do understand: You won't use steam chat when the walkies and so forth. You plan to save 25 condors each week next year, so you can enjoy your condor omelet now. Me, I argue that they're chicken eggs, so there's really nothing wrong with eating them. Yeah, thanks for the advice. I have no idea why you got so angry that I said you were not a purist. You might want to consider think and WRITE before posting. Edit: Failglish- -

Is "fun" an item? No? How about pride? Or petty spite? Oh well, guess I don't kill for items. -

So you use third party communication to convey information that the game would not have allowed you to convey. Information that gives you an advantage. We use third party communication to convey information that the game would not have allowed us to convey. Information that gives us and advantage. Cut to the bone and it's exactly the same concept. I'd sort of respect it if you ONLY used the info you got through steam friends to join the same server. The way you describe is akin to what we do however - you use third party communication to communicate until you're within voice range and the game can take over and give you the same options of communicating as team speakers. Not arguing it's the same, I'm just arguing that your self-conception as a purist might be slightly flawed. Sure other people can hear you - great disadvantage of your system. Great disadvantage of our system is that some asshat will be singing the french national anthem on TS while I'm trying to figure out if those were really footsteps. You won't believe the unrelated shit that comes out of the mouth of these people. And ... well ... me as well. Anyhow, just a small clarification: I'm not arguing everyone should do what we do or what you do or whatever. But I've played MP games primarily to socialize since the 90es. No amount of purists and people calling team speak a 'cheat' will make me travel 15 years back in time to Dark Age of Camelot and typingreallyfcukingfast. It was fun, but it was then. -
zombies should have attracted to player's voice
LeeVanSpliff replied to arvinzd's topic in Suggestions
So all these TS purists ... how do you play with friends? Just join the same server, yelling "ARE YOU BOB? BOB IS THAT YOU?" whenever you run into someone? I sure hope you don't send a steam message saying "I'm in Elektro" or such, or you'll be big bad cheaters yourself! Anyhow, be as purist as you will - if the voice quality in-game got all the way up to half as good as team speaks, I'd still not use it exclusively. Shit, if we had broadcast everything that goes on in our TS channel, we'd all have been banned years ago. From this and a whole lot of other games. -
Relevant questions. I was RIGHT next to him - like axe range. Team Speak was not too loud - only one other person was in the channel and he was being quiet (for once in his god-damn life) because he was listening to the guy I couldn't hear.

Does carrying a sporter 22 make you a more 'friendly" player
LeeVanSpliff replied to HeroAtDay BanditAtNight's topic in General Discussion
Carrying a .22 makes me more hostile, because ... well ... that's what carrying a pea shooter with no clip does to a person in a zombie situation. -
Well I'm sure they'll be working on them ... at no point during DayZ SA (when I've been playing at least) have the zombies been working well, so I'm pretty damn sure they'll be putting more effort into them. And yeah, the increased zombie number is cool.

Found one the other day, but then the server restarted. Fortunately I managed to take a pictures:

AI Glitch or weapon glitch that got my serviving character killes
LeeVanSpliff replied to msadler's topic in General Discussion
Melee issues are annoying, true, but it's also in the patch notes. I've been hit a number of times while fighting zombies, but never a whopping three times killing the same one off. Melee is not impossible in this patch. It's just annoying and time consuming. You have to strafe a zombie attack, try to hit it (which seems to succeed like one in four times, quite randomly). The real danger of melee is that you'll be dancing around with a zombie in stead of keeping an eye on potential survivors sneaking up on you. Also ... I realize players play differently, but if I had pristine EVERYTHING, I'd be bloody happy when someone (or something) killed me so I could go have fun in the game again. -
I like dogs! In a survival situation they turn into walking, trusting lunchboxes.

Yeah, friend was on about some days ago "we need bigger servers". Ten minutes later we had both been mosin'd. I wouldn't call it lucky or unlucky, but sometimes you just meet people, at other times you don't.
