Pigs of Ill-Omen, Harbingers of bloodshed. -
Don't trick-or-treat at this guy's house kids!

It actually does: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_address If used for fighting hackers, there would be plenty of ways to get around this though - can't fix the problem. The thing you suggest would require a more centralized control of the 'net - and plenty of people are suggesting it these days (mostly larger companies). Plenty of people (myself included) are against it for the privacy issues mentioned by raptor. Raptor also gives the solutions: courts. So much money is being spent on stopping these little assholes from doing what they do. If I cost an airline a fortune by pretending to have a bomb, I'll get sued. If I cost some useless designer brand money by issuing an even more useless copy product, I'll get sued. If I interrupt a soccer match by running around on the pitch I'll get sued. If I count cards at a casino I'll be sued. Just sue the little shitbags - see how they like cheating if it will cost them 1000 times the game's cost to get caught.

I have once seen two zombies forming points on the outline of a perfect circle. I did some measurements, and it turns out that the ratio between the radius of the circle and the distance to Green Mountain was EXACTLY the same as the ratio between the diagonal of the base square of the Keops Pyramid and the the distance to the moon. Exactly! This diagram should illustrate what I mean perfectly:

Well, my friend used to dress up as a n00b armed with a fire extinguisher. Unbeknownst to the casual observer, he had discretely put a sawn-off shotgun in his children's school backpack ... and a handful of armed friends in the bushes. If anyone would try to rob or hassle him, it'd be *BLAM* "SHOTGUN SURPRISE!" and then covering fire from the rest of us. Good fun. Investing 400% of time into something that's not fun, now that's ambitious!
-
Because that hasn't happened to me in ... say ... 30 hours of 0.47? Been playing with at least one friend for those hours, he didn't experience it either, so that makes it 60 hours of game play without this happening.
-
Don't listen to him, it's perfectly playable.

He caught you pooping in his house, what did you expect?

Yeah, for instance I met this guy in the mod who changed the variables for whether or not he had a ghillie suit and sniper rifle from false to true using a script! Just setting a variable or two there! At another time, a bunch of hackers teleported to our position and killed us. Merely setting the variable for their local positions! After re-spawning, we all agreed that they had shown great sportsmanship.

95% of the DayZ population should grow some testicles then! Anyhow, OP is right, there simply are no populated hardcore night servers on the browser. If I find 10 people on one, I'm happy.

But ... but ... how do you rob people?!? -

Lol, got me! :beans: Edit: not even on a top 20 of the oddest opinions I've read here -

That sounds really boring! Turning an amazing game for player interaction into a mediocre single player game. Oh and I believe it's against the rules too. -
Beans for bumping this! Great post, but floated southwards because there really isn't much to add.
-
I hope not! It was always pretty immersion ruining for me ... who the hell build all those barricades when the zombies showed up? Were the zombies driving Volvos? Also, I still kinda carry a grudge against road blocks. Every since the ghastly end to my first bike ride in the mod ... I'd love player-build road blocks though. You drive around and come upon a barricade - could be an ambush, could be something from days ago. You might wanna just drive past it at the side of the road, take a different route or send a few guys in on foot to check it out. Could be really cool. Edit: n00bglish.

Chernarus is starting to look empty
LeeVanSpliff replied to King Raptor's topic in General Discussion
Shows up every couple of days on this forum, the opinion that the game is "all about pvp". It's not how I play. It's not how I played the mod. It might be great for you people who just want to gear and shoot that only a quarter of the map is in use. The reason for this is that the game you want is an arena shooter with loot, so you don't really need the huge landscape. I need the huge landscape, and it'd be a hell of a lot more interesting if 75% of the players were not concentrated on 25% of the map. It's different on HC btw. I run into people in the south on HC. -
Dayz Standalone is lacking a huge core piece in my eyes.

That's just pointless mate! "I don't care if it's a PC game, I wanna use my xbox controller". Some things are just facts that you have to deal with. Anyhow, I totally see you point about the lack of content currently. I'm looking forward to cars as much as the next nerd. That being said, the most fun I had in SA by now was when we founded a religious cult and went about converting people by gunpoint. The game had WAY less features back then, but it was still the most fun I had. Sure, it requires imagination, a few crazy friends and an indifferent approach to getting killed, but it kept me way more amused than cars would have. If you expect "features" and "progression" to keep you entertained, you should probably give the game a good handful of months before you play it again. -
Uhh, I'd almost forgotten about those! Essential with some spirituality in DayZ. Man can't live on beans alone, can he? Forgive me father, for I have ... AARRGGH! AARRGGGGGHH! NOT THE GOOD KIDNEY!

Your theory is nonsense! NONSENSE! Everyone knows that the random sounds are the angry souls of n00bs, haunting the coast of Chernarus. Sometimes, when a n00b dies, burning rage keeps his soul from entering the heavens, and it will for-ever be stuck between the two forms of existence. These lost souls try to communicate with warm-blooded players by following them around, but alas, only garbled zombie-like sounds are heard. The souls of n00bs that died form thirst often materialize inside your backpack, where they try desperately to open your last beer, over and over. They sometimes get bored too, and sort your ammo over and over - often bugging your backpack slots in the process. The only fix I know of is carrying a bible. Anyway, this is clearly not something the programming team can fix - it's the kind of things you need a priest for.

I felt exactly the same way. I also remember being eaten by zombies because I had forgotten to reload my fire axe!
-
That's great mouse-guy. You don't like the game, we get it. Could you possibly be persuaded to think of something else you don't like, go to a forum for that and tell them all about your feelings for whatever that forum is about? Say, a thai food forum that needs your opinions on thai food, or maybe a baseball forum? Preferably in the form of simplified, one-sentence observations of dubious quality.
-
Well I DO think I felt it getting a little smaller when I missed the same zombie eight times in a row ...

Or at the very least, you can get shot in the face while attempting to find an ashwood tree from which to craft a fishing rod. Or, if that fails, get shot in the face trying to find a fishing lure. Afterwards, you can get shot in the face while attempting to find an elusive magic-pig from which to craft a backpig. Pack. Then you can go see the sights in Novo, get shot in the face, check out some police car trunks or possibly get shot again while chasing a goat with an axe (chasing it with an axe. The goat doesn't have an axe. Yet). Oh and looting got more interesting imo, less easy to get good loot. I'm hearing rumors it'll be even better once current experimental hits stable servers.

I'm not really sure it's known atm. I read the same thing somewhere (that items would deteriorate in ruined containers). I tried to reproduce it (by running around with stuff in my ruined pants - for quite a while), but I couldn't make it happen. So I currently assume that they don't get worn faster. If someone knows for sure, I'd also be very interested in hearing the answer.
