I agree on the spawn exploiting. Could probably be fixed some other way though. What on earth is the `"map flow/progression for the player"?

No mod players on SA servers ... or ... well ... plenty of us played the mod, but you can't join a SA server without having started the SA client up. If people have stuff you haven't seen, it's either the few hack items mentioned or more likely stuff you just haven't found out where to loot yet.

That's simply not how game development works, especially for large teams. For instance I could imagine that they'll have a team of good database people who first wrote the code for it and now work on optimizing it. Meanwhile they have another team working on hunting. These people doing early versions of better animal AI won't do the database team any good. Same goes for graphics folks doing cars or whatever. One of the advantages of working in parallel like this, is that it doesn't take 10 years to make a game. Unfortunately it also means that the features are not going to be perfect during development, which I bet is why you have to see the little screen stating that it's an alpha every time you play.

We had a vote while you were out ... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/205360-should-hopper-zombies-be-removed-for-now-before-the-next-stable-patch/

This thread has no topic, because what the OP states is common sense. That's why there are hardly two posts on the same subject. Worst. Thread. Ever.

No, I am

Aye I agree. It's not like the deer is made from tungsten. I was thinking a bit more about this whole blade damage thing, and I guess that it's quite possible that BI will introduce some other sharpening tools that'll work better than the rocks, like get the blade up to worn.

pig killers make serios mistake
LeeVanSpliff replied to Shrub Rocketeer ™'s topic in General Discussion
Remember everyone: next time you kill someone in an army outfit, remember to yell "THIS IS FOR SHRUB'S GRANDMAMA!" -
Or the skinning/quartering should be changed so that less meat is lost for a damaged blade.

Yeah I believe a friend did, but he was not at max health.

Well, it's the only one of the gather-stuff-from-people ideas I actually liked. Most people have ears, not everyone carry around dog tags, necklaces, driver's licenses and so on. Dog tags is more of a kiddie-wanna-collect feature at the expense of realism imo. What's the point of having a collection of anything except tactical bacon in a survival situation anyway? If they added dog tags, imo the developers would be stating "killing people is the goal of this game, therefore we help you keep track of it". No thanks. Edit: Anyhow it's been debated to death here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/171333-dog-tags-good-or-bad-idea/?hl=dogtag

Set the resolution to the native resolution of your monitor, then set the interface aspect ratio to whatever your monitor has. Disable motion blur and post processing, makes everything less blurry. Get rid of of head bob as well. Game can look damn good, but settings menus are not exactly intuitive. Welcome to Chernarus btw!

There was a thread on this recently. Best suggestion was the classic Dolph ear-necklace imo:

Proactive Players Creating New Layers
LeeVanSpliff replied to leviathanapsu's topic in General Discussion
If you plan to put together anything semi-social on the internet after 2000, I suggest you get yourself a microphone. It's like the cheapest part of a PC, and I cannot for the life of me understand why so many of you think that it's something you don't need for gaming. I like your idea, but it's dead on arrival. If you try to put anything together where there are strangers, loaded guns, boring periods, stuff to defend and you cannot reply to "leviathan is that you?" you'll just get yourself killed by friendly fire imo. All of you who don't have microphones: Go buy one. It's like half the price of your keyboard. Quit stalling. Go buy a damn microphone. Edit: failglish. -
Broke Leg with alot of Ammo and stuff if wanted

Totally not in the spirit of a survival game! Can't wait till gearing gets hard enough for suicide not to be a shortcut to go back to sniping ... -
We need some camelpaks for our lazy survivors
LeeVanSpliff replied to TheWizard14's topic in Suggestions
Why not just got all the way with a stillsuit then? -
Why mention all these thing you can loot? Why not some of the combinations that are difficult to put together? Stuff like Any pistol with clip (and ammo in case of .45 which seems rare these days)Fishing rod (Ashwood stick + rope + lure + bait combined, why only trade for the lure)Backpigpack.I'd be way more inclined to put my posterior on the trade-line for a full fishing rod than just one of the components.

What is the rarest item you have ever found in DayZ?
LeeVanSpliff replied to trimpampano's topic in General Discussion
Rarest item: backpigpack. Last I went to the south coast, there wasn't a soul. Maybe I was just 'unlucky'. -
Patch notes: Persistent items & storage are disabled server side pending hot fix to stable branch If we're lucky, it'll show up this Wednesday.

Oh btw, how is that every damn time I find ANY part of a police uniform, I get shot in that particular body part next time someone aims a gun in my general direction? Every. Damn. Time. Oh well, I'm just glad there's no Cherno PD Jockstrap.

The "grind" is the fun part for me! Imo having good gear is boring. Getting good gear is fun.

What Do You Want to See When you die?
LeeVanSpliff replied to CANUCKinNZ's topic in General Discussion
Valkyries. The buxom kind. -
Loot system is undergoing some major changes these days. Once these things are working right, they can start tweaking the living hell out of it to make it better. I agree 100% with OP - way too easy to find food and soda atm. But rejoice, it'll change for the better soon!
