This (8 and a half minutes in) is what I want! :) Also, the misty forest rain weather seen earlier in the video looks awesome.

Zombies attracted to dead bodies like they are/will be to gunshots
Bings (DayZ) posted a topic in Suggestions
I have seen that in the future update they are changing the way Zombies/Infected run towards people when they fire a gun to running towards where the gun was fired from. I think it would be cool if instead of/as well as this that Zombies/Infected (wolves as well perhaps) were attracted to dead bodies. There is no logical reason for them to be attracted to gunfire unless there is a prospect of yum yum tasty human flesh. I've quoted some other suggestions above who also say it could combined with the dead bodies being eaten rather than just disappear inexplicably on a timer and for items on the person to be ruined. If the idea of getting zombies/infected to run towards gunfire is to add danger to shooting other players then I think this would be a better way to do it as it puts the danger in front of the bounty. Plus it would also be good to have the danger added to melee kills, though keep an aggro attracted to noise ratio. If it is made hard for a single player to loot a murdered corpse, then it will encourage teamwork and player interaction. At least for the purposes of murderous thievery, anyway.- 1 reply

I did not see any caveats in the statement I quoted those lines from about only posting feedback that meets the approval of ShallowTech. Anyway, night time should be dark IMO. Even more so when it rains, to simulate the cloud cover. If it's going to be dark like it used to be (like in the video) when I last played and the devs have just set this new renderer like it is now for some unknown reason then awesome. As, what I've seen in multiple videos of the stress test at night, I don't like that. I want Zombies jumping out of the darkness in the middle of nowhere and giving me a heart attack.

Maybe it's just something for the stress test but what I've seen from streams it looks cartoonish and horrible. New: Old/Current?: The latter is so much better and more atmospheric. A night where you can see everything kind of destroys the point. Please don't make night over bright and sucky.

I think the sound of flatulence should give away the positions of snipers.

Does anyone actually enjoy killing zombies in DayZ?

Hopefully a decent melee system will require the new renderer too. -

Decent fighting with Zombies is on the TO DO list, evidently somewhere behind Teddy Bears. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
Bings (DayZ) replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
Had a crawler zombie sneak up on me last night with no growls or warning. Also my friend shot a stand up zombie and I saw it die and slide down the hill, but he just saw it continue to run towards him, got so far and just running insanely on the spot. Then another crawler zombie, killed it by shooting it also but instead of the dying animation it just hopped into the distance like a frog on a mission. Also noticed that even if you kill the stand up zombie with melee, they can still hit you on a back swing. There is just no pleasure to be had fighting zombies with the current shitty melee system however easy or hard it is made. -
No more will you walk past a can of pipsi to save space.

When I went to look round the shipwreck, I fell off the side. Someone should put some hazard tape round that thing, it's a health and safety nightmare.

Melee Overhaul Idea - Choose Direction/Attack & Block
Bings (DayZ) replied to agouti's topic in Suggestions
I haven't played chivalry but I have played Mount and Blade and their melee system is great. In a game where you spawn with nothing and find a melee weapon first, it's pretty important to have a decent melee system. At the very least some blocking would be appreciated. -
I think the game would be better in the long run without firearms.

Anything that discourages firefights sounds like a 10/10 good idea to me.

Long-term suggestions, are they possible?
Bings (DayZ) replied to Qayin (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I think barricades should be a defence against zombies but not other players. They should be able to be destroyed by melee weapons like axes (people aren't going to be able to build Brick fortresses after all, it's likely going to be wooden barricades) . If people start buildings forts of loot, it's basically a big sign saying "hack me". Plus the idea that players can long term section parts of the map for themselves is quite silly.
