Oh I apologize. I didn't realize how important you are. Perhaps you should have a badge.

This is really my point. What is the explanation behind this? There has to be some thought process, as I'm sure the programming language didn't accidentally fall into the game. Someone thought this was a reasonable system (or a reasonable place holder.) It doesn't make any sense to me. I very much hope that this is being worked on.

To put it bluntly, if it's an alpha you should WELCOME criticisms. Isn't that the point of offering the alpha? If you're right, then they should simply remove the gear damage system all together because it's really not well thought out in its current incarnation. Second, you don't get both worlds. I keep hearing about all the realism focus, and this is a MASSIVE glaring failure. In a game based so heavily on survival and gear hunting, the damage structure of that gear is a massive part of the game. The protector case does precious little and almost 100% of the time, when my clothes get ruined, so does the protector case. You keep implying it's an alpha. Great. It's an alpha. Thank you for that. Can you please direct me to the count-down clock that will let me know when it's ok to air my criticism?
  4. First off, I realize this is an Alpha. Perhaps there's plans in place to rectify this issue. I searched the suggestion list and didn't see anything mentioned about this. I find the current gear and clothing condition system to be somewhat arcadish. Unless your character has acid blood, there's no excuse for the manner in which your clothes are ruined. For instance, getting shot in the leg doesn't ruin your pants. A hole? Blood stains? Sure. But your pants and all their items don't suddenly become ruined. Same goes for your vest and other articles. It's possible of course that the item in the pocket of the region the bullet entered could become damaged or ruined (there's already a specific pocket storage suggest, so I won't comment on that specifically,) but your entire vest wouldn't become ruined, nor would the gear it was carrying. I'm not sure if it's suggesting the blood is ruining things? But even then, that's not an adequate explanation. Blood could theoretically corrode metal after a significant amount of exposure, but not instantaneously. When you jump off of something and injure yourself, your pants and shoes become ruined. I recall jumping off a roof as a child and twisting my ankle. I don't recall having to throw out my shoes after. Perhaps applying area specific damage to clothing items is too intensive programming wise, but the current system is a bit of a cop out that unnecessarily punishes the player.
