    Average Lone Wolf Wouldnt Survive

    I think the point the OP was making. Was that "It'll hurt lone wolves, Lone wolves should not be at a disadvantage to groups" type of thing should not be a reason to not include things like the features he mentioned. The features can be implemented, lone wolves will be a viable play style, but groups can and potentially will have an easier time. Being able to take advantage of more features to become more effective as a whole. Which I totally agree with.

    I am not sure if you can refill the Jerrycan from a service station, but you can top it up to 100% from other cans found lying around.

    Sweaters

    I'm all for adding a second clothing layer for things like Down Jackets and other bulky clothing. Fitting over regular shirts and closer fitting clothing.
  5. In terms of dispersion. Plastic is better than Wood, Wood is better than Folding. I'm not sure how well the handguard rail performs. But you can then mount a bipod, so when prone. You then have the advantage of the bipod's assistance That goes for AK's. As for M4's, I understand that the Magpul Handguard an buttstock are the best. But again, you can get the RIS handguard with rails that lets you mount the bipod. I'm not sure how big the difference there is between the high end furniature and using a bipod whilst prone. I would assume that the bipod whilst prone would win out. But only whilst prone. I'm just miffed that the MP5K no longer spawns with it's buttstock anymore. EDIT: Also, I believe that the condition and presence of scopes also makes a difference in your weapon's dispersion. Which I think is utter BS. But then again, I'd like attachments to only affect sway(ie, more sway when not prone whilst using a bipod deployed or even attached.)/recoil (in the case of better condition stocks or such) and keep dispersion constant for the weapon. Making folding stocks or the absence of a stock allowing you to stow the AK in your bag, but, I can only hope.

    Opened doors are not random!

    You'll notice that the doors inside the barracks inside are varied. Sometimes all of them are shut, sometimes some of them are open, sometimes even all shut. And I hate to burst your bubble, but I have been to Zelenogorsk military base and found one barracks door open and flashbangs and high capacity vests inside. Which I'm certain would not have been left behind. They are very much random in my experience.

    Most of this has been suggested before. I really like the idea of the glass/sound traps though. I'd even be fore just having regular broken glass that we find all over the map make the same noise too. And pliers will obviously get some use as a means to disarm traps like that. (since they pliers have side cutters on them too.)

    The 22 rifle

    I've been out shooting rabbits with a .22LR pump action with and without optics. Its also what I learned to shoot with. My dad had me hitting milo cans at 100 metres after a couple of days with open sights. Further with a scope. That was from a prone supported position however. Beyond about 130-140 it tends to drop like a lead brick though. Entry level weapons like the Makarov and the .22 Sporter should have an abundance of ammo, that makes it up for them being rather underpowered.

    I've used the sporter a couple of times since 0.49 because the mags seem much more common. I got a spawn up near Novo and promptly found one and a ten round clip in a piano house. After making my way through Novo's streets and finding a 30 round clip in the police station. When I made my way along the northern highway to meet up with friends. Spotting a guy making his way through the trees on the edge of the roadside with a blue mountain pack, he hadn't seen me and I managed to break the guy's leg with a few shots. Ran up to him and socked him in the head with a fist to make him unconscious. Snatched his backpack with his pistol inside and then bandaged him up and gave him an Epi-pen (I'd had a stroke of luck, finding 3 in novo hospital.) its not a great gun, but not all weapons have to be. It has it's place as a starter weapon, and right now the mags seem common as hell.

    New military base west of Myshkino

    to be fair, those bodies are a placeable that appear everywhere. One is beside the ruined buss in the swampy area along the coast not far from Elektro from the Berenzino side. it was just moved, I'm sure we'll see even more change soon. The socker field up north was there for AGES before the new town was fleshed out. I used to walk by and just wonder why the hell a soccer field was in the middle of nowhere.

    I think you may not have even been shot from your front arc. There was allot of cover for him to your right and left. And on your right, it looked like it was a slight decline in the hill/topography. So there is a chance he came up there and simply sighted in on you standing there 3rd personing.

    Better logging out

    This is a great idea, it will slow server switches a little, but that is not a bad thing IMO. Atleast those who aren't combat logging will still be able to quickly abort and deal with the wandering fresh spawns and zeds.

    Grenades Functionality

    Just a few suggestions of my own for Grenade Functionality. Firstly, after unpinning a grenade, I think a 'pin' item should appear in your inventory, or in your vicinity at your feet if you have no room. That can be dragged back to the grenade to 're-pin' the grenade. Seccondly, I think that if someone is holding an unpinned grenade, that their death or unconscious event should cause the grenade to go off/start it's fuse as the spoon is released. Thirdly, some functionality to kick/shift/throw a grenade away would be nice. sure, its risky, but that is the risk you take in moving it away instead of moving to cover. Lastly, I would like to see the introduction of instantaneous fragmentation grenades for the purpose of booby-trapping, I won't suggest booby-traps themselves as they have been mentioned in the following threads. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/206050-booby-trapping-bodys/?hl=grenade http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/167600-grenadesand-those-safety-levers/ However, my dad was watching over my shoulder one time and when I found a grenade, He was suggesting that I keep it to boobytrap a body, I said it wasn't currently possible. Then he mentioned that when he was in Vietnam, they used to have instantaneous grenades for such a purpose. He also mentioned that the only way to tell them apart was a red dot on the base of the fragmentation grenade that they used to scrape off with a knife. So it would be cool to be able to not only have a fragmentation grenade, but use some sort of item or right click on an instantaneous grenade to remove any visual identifier of it being different from the ordinary fragmentation grenade. Save perhaps signs of scratching on the base of the grenade. (after all, is this not what the 'inspect' function is for?) this way you could not only boobytrap a corpse, you could simply leave a grenade in a stash, or on your person knowing that when you die, the fellow who loots your corpse will likely blow himself up if he is not carefull to check the grenade out. I also mention instantaneous grenades because they are more well suited to booby-trapping than a fused variant. where using a timed grenade could result in a message 'my foot tripped something...' or suchlike. meaning that you will have that split second of time to try and survive the blast, where an instantaneous grenade will be game over. Just a few suggestions.

    Grenades Functionality

    At the end of the day, I couldn't care much about wether or not this feature is implemented or not. But the suggestion board is here for a reason. Also, something I would like to add. I would only like to see booby-trapping of corpses be implemented if the cautious player who uses something like a fishing hook and a rope (again, this is something my dad mentioned to me that was part of their kit in Vietnam) that can be thrown/hooked onto the body like a grapple, and given a tug to shift the body just a little, causing any booby-trap to go off. Possibly destroying the hook/rope or atleast degrading it. My point being, that dayz seems to reward players thinking about ways to improvise, like hunting, creating improvised backpacks and suchlike. So letting people be good little boy and girl scouts should only work if both the trapper and trap-e can 'be prepared'

As I understand it will be only pond water that will carry a health risk, pumps and rain water will be fine, canned drinks will be fine likely... there is a chance that water found in a canteen or bottle will not be purified too I think. Not to mention that with all the dead bodies around, it is feasible that some lakes or bodies of water have become contaminated.

    Banned for no reason!

    I do think that the hacking problem is wayyy overstated. The number of times I have surrounded one or two guys with my friends, when they fired on us or we tried to rob them and they end up going violent. When I hit one of them through a window or some such, they immediately cry hacker. I have encountered a number of dupers.... but I can think of only... maybe 4 hackers in total. Not counting people using the glitch to no-clip into housing blocks or ATC towers. over 291 hours to date mostly on stable in high population servers. 1 teleported, forcing our weapons away, holding my pistol to my head and being so slow that we almost got the drop on him with mosins till he ran away. 1 teleporter forcing my weapons away who beat me to death with a crowbar. 1 guy using a fully auto shotgun and teleporting. Another hopping from building to building in Novo with a mosin. But I think the vast majority of people who cry hacker are simply sore over getting killed. People assume that players don't know where they are when they make plenty of noise. I've been accused of being a hacker because I knew were someone was in the novo penthouse. by listening for their footsteps to the right. I've also been accused of hacking because I shot a guy through a window to the 2nd floor of a terrace house and because I supposedly 'teleported' by running hell for leather around an area when 3 guys were chasing me and ended up behind them... So I really encourage people not to cry hacker too often because it makes it impossible to see how great the problem really is.
  21. At this stage, there is no point. But when they implement disease/the need to purify water. You will either need to start carrying water purification tablets around for your canteen. Or you will need to find canned drinks as they are a clean source of water and some nutrition.

    Re the OP, and to those who don't realise. When you pull the pin out of a grenade, you are like Hellcat said, removing the safety from the lever. Its the act of the lever being depressed/released that starts the detonator/fuse whatever.

    Fundamental Game Issue (Servers).

    There is however kn glaring problem with this. People who play on off peak hours. I am a shift worker and when i get off my night shift the west Australian servers that i usually play on are empty or max 10 players on a rare good day. Why should such people be penalised over those more fortunate to have 'normal' gaming hours

    The Troubling Issue of Magazines

    I agree with allot of what has been said above. I think a small chance be it 10% of weapons spawning with a mag (full, empty, half full or whatever) or a random scope, stock fore-grip or other attachment but with varying levels of wear. Even things like a missing stock. Already sawn off mosins and shotguns too. Never a fully kitted out weapon but enough minor variation would create a sense of weapon variety. You might find an ak without a stock or a mosin with a scope but its badly damaged or suchlike. Thus keeping the search real for that pristine scope or such. But i agree small chances are best. Mags spawning in the right places for availability based on were the weapon is found is highly likely ti be done when loot is rebalanced but i think this will be best addressed in the beta phase. I do however think actual ammo should be the main item of rarity between ammo weapon and a Mag.
