I lost all my gear to a ladder. So.. uh... some things happened.

Should we all start off with a pistol in Dayz Standalone?

The clothes should also be damaged. Nothing says "just washed up with no memory" like pristine clothes. -

Server restarts: Awkward log outs/ spawn locations?
The_Monk replied to makomachine's topic in General Discussion
Had a server drop me in the middle of the runway at north west. Little bit of poo came out when I logged in because I had been outside the wall but it had reverted me to the runway. -
Sitting down is a bad idea. They'll think you're logging out and just kill you.
-
Had to watch it a few times. Pissing myself.

That depends on if you have a gas mask/payday mask and if the guy running next to you is a generic army guy. Guilt by association.
-
Still jonesing for more Datsuns. Especially technicals.

Ladders, the silent killer.
-
If I see anything with a rifle and an assault vest, it dies. 90% are hostile.
-
There is nothing to tell you a person is a bandit except for how they act. Most of the time, someone that looks like an army guy is going to shoot you. Anyone with a payday(clown) mask is going to shoot you.

Your accent is hypnotic.

So much unnecessary divisiveness over game modes

I prefer 1PP. I refuse to play in servers with like 8 people though which forces me to play 3PP. -
Stuck in a rock, sinking into the ground FULLY GEARED CHARACTER

Ah, the deadly DayZ rocks. They have claimed many a survivor. See if you can get a friend to run full speed at you to bump you. -
I'm curious to know if it is a culture difference. I play with Australians and New Zealanders. KOS seems to be the exception not the rule unless you play at just after school time, the kids come out to screech "faggot" at you. I've avoided many a sketchy situation just by talking to people and or bluffing saying that they are being watched by my non existent backup.

Beans. Bandit and Hero need to be discarded. Just because I give a guy a can of beans or bandage him when he is bleeding, doesn't mean I won't break another guys kneecaps later to save my own skin.
-
No exaggeration at all. Again, Elektro is the exception. It is its own little hell on earth.

Most people's argument for PVE is that PVP is bad and player interactions should all involve hugging and kissing. PVP /= KOS PVP is any interaction where there is a chance of a fight, so any interaction. You take away that chance of a fight and you get the Rust issue of watching some guy fuck up your shit and you not being able to do anything about it. Then you get the PVE servers that you aren't allowed to go near other peoples bases, rob from tents, take vehicles.
-
Also, how you dress effects how much you get shot at. Generic army dude with an assault rifle, green everything and a big backpack is going to get killed. Throw away all that unnecessary gear and I find a lot less people shoot at you. My preferred kit looks something like this: I have everything I need to defend myself/survive in a small backpack and no big bulky vest.

No clan, just whoever I bump into. Mosin with iron sights is much more effective than LRS. I normally roll with a single friend of mine I met by not shooting him in the face. If anyone calls me a hero, they take a round. That is the stupidest term ever, closely followed by bambi. The majority of DayZ players are terrible shots, I feel no fear in the middle of the street because nobody can lead a target for shit. I tell people to stay out of sight because I see a lot of people die because they run up to kitted army guys expecting them to give away gear and be super friendly. Then come here to winge about KOS.
-
I play with 0-3 people, hang around the coast giving gear to fresh spawns and smashing barracks rats that think hunting fresh spawns is a valid use of their ammunition. The lowest pop servers I enjoy are around 25. The game is pointless without player interaction. I'm as stealthy as a drunken elephant until a combat situation, whether I am on my own or in a group, I run down the middle of the road with a mosin in my hands. The M4 is about as pointless as yelling at the enemy and hoping they get scared and leave.
-
To get killed on sight, you have to be seen. Don't assume the man with the assault rifle is friendly just because you are.
-
Around 1/10 of my player interactions involve gunfire. The majority involve the exchange of goods either cordially or by force. So long as you avoid running up to people and yelling friendly in their faces, you get shot at and or have to shoot people a lot less. Elektro is the exception. If you go there, you are going there to die or kill people.

The only time I shoot someone after they talk is if they abuse me or if they have an irritating squeeky voice and I'm in a bad mood.
