Yes But remove fixed spawn, make it somewhat random to stop people from spawn camping/griefing. Also, better loot distribution. -

Let's throw around replayability ideas

Progression of any kind help with repleyability. Community also, clans mates expecting you to show up. See world of warcraft raids for exemple. Community goals like building a base for your clan. I believe everything is too easy to acquire and to lose. Its get and forget kind of deal. You can find night vision goggles and lose them 5mins later only to never find any more. You can die, and then reacquire your lost gears in a matter of 1 or 2 hours. It will be a totally different compass but still the very same compass. Vehicules are too easy to repair as well and serve almost no purposes... people repair them, then drive them around and have some fun for an hour or two to finaly crash them and never repair another one. Problems with tents and vehicules also keep people from playing. Why would I play if my tent is in another server and said server is down? Why would I play if I logged out far in the middle of nowhere near my truck only to log back and find it disapeared. If tents were linked to character it would help a great deal. No matter what server you join, your tent follow you on that server. Of course there is the problem of a tent spawning in front of another player, then we can always have a script that keep the tent from spawning until the owner come at a certain range, if thats even possible. Or stop tents from spawning near others players until they leave the surroundings or die. But then again, I placed barbed wire around my tent, I want that too to follow me... so complicated. Sigh... Question is; Why many people keep playing on the very same map with the very same weapon for years? (counter-strike dust 2) or Why they keep logging into their MMO every days? -
that player, whoever he was, should report how he duplicated his pistols, because thats obviously of duplicating glitch.

I completly agree. In my opinion, if we dont take all the glitch and bugs that need fixing, zombies are a top priority. threat level must increase dramaticaly. Even If I love 28 days later type of zombies, infected people are actually really easy to counter. Dawn of the dead remake REALLY nailed the desesperate atmosphere that should reign in DAYZ. Unlike shambling slow zombies, DAWN's zombies really were hard to deal with, praticaly invincible, they could wistand any damage but brain damage, and they were fast. If these kind of zombies apeared in our reality, I wouldn't be surprised if most of the human population disapeared off the face of earth, unlike shambling slow zombies. Either way, it doesn't matter what kind of zombies, infected people or monster rocket decide to change the current infected into, what matters is that they need to be changed. AT the most basic level, and im not talking about complex behavior like zombie migration or pratrolling hordes, but at the most basic state. First of all, their collision need to be fixed. They shouldn't go through walls and doors, nor hit you through them, and they should't stop if they try to hit you. Then, their teleporting lagging sprinting speed need to be nerfed to somewhat realistic running speed. After that their running behavior or AI must be changed, no more broken flanking. They should run eradicaly toward the player, that I agree, in small ''S'' like if they somewhat lacked balance but not go 90 degrees, then another 90 degree toward the player. Now, after all that stuff have been done, we have two choice; We need a lot more zombies because they are easier to kill since they buggy behavior have been fixed. or Zombies can now only die if they get shot in the head, they can still be slowed down if they get shot in the legs, but they would only really stop when shot in the head. Thats my opinion and suggestion about the matter. Im sure rocket can come up with an elegant way to make zombies the real threat to our survival and less the players. I mean, I want bandits, betrayal and roaming organised evil gang. I love them, they make DAYZ what it really is. But as it is, it is such a walk in the park, that even newbies, with starter pistol can deathmatch in the biggest cities while zombies pick their noses. Zombies as of 1.7.0 are more like flies than anything else, they gravite around player, they annoy them and thats about it. Rarely you will die to zombies because you fought with players and it left you with almost zero blood, but other than that... Also, allow me to come back to my comment about zombies could be anything. What make a survival horror is not really about the monster, no matter what kind of monsters they are. Its the danger the represent that really make them horrifying. The though that the odds are heavily against you. That you are closer to death, than you are to life, at anytime. Zombies could the monsters from stephen king's ''the mist'',''the flood'' from halo or the ''representation of evil'' from silent hill. It wouldn't change a thing as long as whatever monster is used is indeed very dangerous and hard to deal with. Its just the shell. The only difference is their look. In all cases, like zombies they are; Hard to kill Very deadly legion and somewhat mysterious. (they raise many questions) Anyway, what Im trying to say is that I dont care what kind of zombies we get, as long as they inspire despair and fear, and I mean REAL FEAR. Not the fear that the character is suposed to feel, but the fear the PLAYER behind the character feel when encountering the ''monsters'' because they are that dangerous.

Oh hey there, since there is no server section on the forums Im going to make my post here. Altitude, would you mind looking into your servers, especialy texas servers, they constantly crash. Tonight, I tried to play on texas 3 and it kept crashing, 5 min, then crash again. Dont know what is happenning but something is wrong. Connected from Quebec at 19:30 to 20:00 and it crashed perhaps 3 times during half an hour. Also to all the haters, me and my buddies made our homebase on texas 3. We got a camp and tons of loot, thats why moving is kind of annoying, at least until tents are linked to characters. Anyway thanks for reading.

I can't stand any rules that in my opinion work agains't dayz atmosphere, such as; Your position on the map and hand scan. The third persion view I really dont mind, I like looking at my character and travelling is less annoying in third person. Imo; hand scan should be disabled by default on all dayz server and you shouldn't be able to see yourself or anyone else on the map also by default. Third person can stay but I wouldn't cry if it got disabled for obvious reasons. -
I also became invincible yesterday. Im pretty sure its directly related to the age of our character, meaning, I survive for a very long time, meanwhile there were tons of patches, when I entually got shot, I dropped to -19000 blood. I then pressed the respawn buton to destroy my character because it is very unfair and I hate cheats/abuses.

Date/Time: 25/05/2012 What happened: As we all know placing a tent is next to impossible in the build 1.5.8.4. But there is a way to make it work, and while it works to place the tent, it also dupplicate the item. The trick is to open your inventory, move the tent to active inventory, then move your character around while keeping the inventory open. Then you furiusly press ''pitch tent'' while moving around slightly and looking at the spot you want the tent to be. The character will stop moving, and place the tent, but the tent item will stay in your inventory. Now, if you do the samething with the new tent item, it will duplicate the tent infinitly everytime the animation to place the tent start. No tent will be placed, but they will be duplicated. Even if it only display on tent in your inventory, when you will drop it in a container, say the tent you just succeded to place, you will be able to move all the new tents. I have now 7 tents that I acquired by accident trying to place a second tent when the first dupplication happenned. Where you were: Klen, on top of the mountain, in between berezino and NE airfield What you were doing: Placing a tent *Current installed version: 1.5.8.4 *Server(s) you were on: texas1 *Your system specs: 8gig ram / intel core 2 quad CPU @2.66GHZ / windows 64 / nvidia geforce 9800 GT *Timeline of events before/after error: Looting in berezino finding a tent looting the tent place the tent in my backpack go to the klen mountain pitch the tent tent dupplicated try to place second tent tent duppliaced 6 times put tent in the pitched tent log off UPDATE: When you place a tent using with the mentionned above technique, and take it back, then place another one, after a server restart the old tent is going to respawn... and now you have 2 pitched tents. -

Try to move around the vehicule with your inventory open while right clicing on the item and trying to make the action work... thats how I placed a tent at least.

No no, no problem at all. I rather take that kind of critique with arguments to back up your points than comments like ''no its a bad idea'' and thats it. So yeah, all fair points, and I kinda agree with you that game need to be harder. But thats a whole different topic. Also, fair point that if people choose what to spawn with it will be abused if spawn mechanics are somewhat static but its not really the case even with the current system. On an off topic note; You signature made me laugh quite a bit. How not to use a ghillie suit. l:P -

Whats the difference between escaping a sinking boat and spawning on the beach or escaping a crashing plane and spawning all over the map? Also, whats easier, sniping people that spawn at the very same coordinate everytime in the open, or sniping people that spawn all over the map, falling through the sky, especialy with the 1500m vision limit. I kind of agree that the starting kit is kinda generous tough. -
Bandits are part of the game and believe me you will get killed by survivors with no clues a lot more than real bandits. Also, they are on every servers. Other players are why the game is fun. The trust and the fear. That being said, try ALTITUDE servers, best servers in my opinion. Just type ALTITUDE in the filter host name and voila.

What server do you play on? Because Im interrested, the only thing that bothers me if you are playing on servers with rules I disagree with. Such as seeing people name from afar or being able to see your dot on the map and even other people. I play on veterant server obviously. -
Wow, this reputation system I swear. Ive got a negative point for answering a question. Glitched mean bugged or not working. You will repair one and it will disapear after a server restart. Or you wont be able to fill it up because the action disapear after you emptied one gas can and need to relog to do it again. Or some piece wont be ever repairable. Or it will constantly leak gaz.
