Give me 5.56 ammo and I shall give you a blood bag. Ammo is currency, winchester, makarov and revolver ammo are worth praticly nothing because of their aboundance. Also, for some kind of economy loot need to be a little bit more scarce. -

If it can stop people to try to dodge dead Im all for bleeding while offline, hell I would even increase it. That being said, I dont mind having to eat/drink when logging in, almost feel like Im playing with a tamagochi or whatever it was called. Have to feed my little fellow, or else! :O -
The problem with any kind of end game, is that players are so HARDCORE and ORGANISED that it will take them a very short amount of time to complete, thus nullifiing the whole ''end game'' thing. You've got to think bigger than that, eventually when we can fit more poeple on a server, I believe a settlement made by players, with an economy and what not is probably a lot harder to achieve than any kind of end game you can think of.

Wow really? Thats a little bit over the top, now a lone wolf or anyone else that doesn't have an army behind him to protect 24/7 that tent+truck that you carefully hidden somewhere deep in the forest will always get his loot vehicule stolen, how great is that? NOT super duper bqqsauce greatish. :'(

I did state in my original post that you should only get to choose between basic things. Things that many players complained to not spawn with and it make sense to them. Some player would rather spawn with a flashlight than flares. I propose to them that they can indeed choose to spawn with a flashlight, but they will have to drop a makarov mag and the flares for it. It add another layer of choice and custimisation and solve some new players have encountered. As per the roleplay element, well not everybody use the same gear or give importance to the same things. If we take into consideration that the character ingame is a representation of yourself, you probably made choice before you got washed ashore. The system in the second idea is representing these choices with a certain limit. -

Meh you are right, probably directly related to the 3 guys that also answered that they are under 12 years old. :P Other than that, normally I would promote the survey and ask people to do it, but it have a lot of things that could be asked differently and many more useful questions missing for more accurates result, I believe. So I suggest redoing it. -
Steam user, Arma ll+arma arrow head. Same problem as everybody else.

Alright, so lets post just like everybody else about the same problem because there is yet to be a complete tutorial about how to install this mod, which is by the way certainly the most annoying and compliced mod installation I ever had get through. I guess it test our patience, a thing that we need a great deal of for the game itself. But anyway, I have installed arma 2 and arma 2 arrowhead bot retail on STEAM. I started them both to complete the installation, I noticed that combined ops didn't launch. I have created a @dayz folder with an addons folder inside of it with the decompressed file from the mod also inside of it, using winrar. I also added -mod=@dayz -nosplash to the propriety. After trying to join a couples north america servers I get booted with the message that I can't edit the mission because blablabla, the usual message. I tried to right clic arrowhead and clic on reinstall battleye anti cheat but nothing happen. So, can a good soul with good knownledge about the bugs and the fixes post a tutorial to help new people like me that just heard about the mod? You can also post in this thread and then I will make a step by step thread so others people dont have to go through what many of us seemed to have to do. Thanks in advance. -

Thats exactly what I want to avoid if we let players control their fall. If they control it they will regroup too easily and death will mean nothing, not only that, but players could really easily get back to their gear and thats also something we dont want to happen. About the first point, I doubt we should stop an idea because it sound complicated for new players. I mean, we are playing a military simulator after all. :P Other than that, the roleplay part is a little harder to figure out, why are you falling from the sky in the first place? Well, when we think about it spawning on the beach is very similar, RP wise, I mean, there are no sinking ships nearby or anything else that could lead us to believe we escape an infected boat. I though that perhaps, eventually after polishing and what not, that rocket could add a flaming plane in distress CLIENT SIDE flying nearby to explain why you are spawning in the sky. Hell, it could even be a simple CGI cinematic the first time you enter the game, or a text explaining the events. -
Don't add artificial advantages or disadvantages for any playstyle, ever.

When people will stop spawning all at the same place mindless killing will be very diminished. See my signature for a suggestion that help to get rid of the problem of spawn killing and spawn zergling(players running straigh for major city gunning every new survivor they come across). -

You need your friend to apply it on you. Place it in your pocket or active inventory, then either use the mouse wheel on your friend or right clic the bloodbag to administrate it. If that doesn't work, I suggest that both of you relog. That solved my issue when it happenned to me and my teamate.

Its a known glitch, most certainly you are using the wrong patch or playing on a server with an older patch. If its not the case, you can always search the support forum because a lot of people have the same problem as you. Good luck! edit: May I suggest that you get six updater: http://www.six-updater.net/ Will greatly help you with patches.

Well, everything you suggested I made a suggestion topic about. You guys can follow my link in my signature to get to the thread. Your time penality is a good idea in theory, but its nullified by the already quite long server response.

Server cleaning system got improve, and zombies have to despawn one way or another, otherwise there would be a lot more than the mere 1334 I have seen on day. I mean, with the amount of player and the number of buildings all over the place there would be a lot more if they never got to disapear... even if players kill them. Anyway, respawns rate are so high most likely a server thing and not influanced by zombie kills. -
Can you return to your corpse or a stash after dying?

Stashes not really, unless you use a container such as tent its most likely to have despawned when you get there. -

Impressive, I believe I was part of it. I find it very ironic(right word?) that huge studios can't deliver an experience as deep as DAYZ yet a single programmer and a couple(now many people) helpers acheived that. I truely hope the industry learn from it, we are all tired of corridors, what we want are worlds, we have the technology, they need to stop dwelving in the mediocrity. -
What is the purpose of this thread exactly other than being another great exemple of what to do to get a thread locked? People have the right to suggest ideas even if they sound stupid for some other people. Remember, rocket's idea have been turned down by many developers/investors because they though his idea would never make it and there we are.

If I break my leg i will get on my feet in no time because I always carry morphine. I always scout a villages/city with my binoculars before entering it. I was thirsty, so I drank salt water. Im not afraid of death, because I know I will go to the beach if I die. When I want to help somebody, I point my gun to their face while trying to get the action menu to pop. Everytime I do an action, I accidently fire my gun. Whenever I can't see in the dark, I look for the gamma option. If Im holding a flashlight, I can't hold anything else. I eat my beans directly from the can, without a can openner. I try to make a fire, without firewood, and wonder why it doesn't work. If someone ask me where there is a good place to meet people, I tell them to go to cherno. If someone wear a scarf on their face, I shoot them on sight. I never go in garages, because I know there is nothing useful there.
