Would be a cool little feature. On one of my posts about wilderness survival aspects, we have mushrooms as a gatherable, edible resource. One of the lines of mushrooms is either poisonous or safe to eat. Could form some sort of Russian Roll.

Forest stations otherwise known as "Ranger" stations
Airfield replied to Redstar Payne's topic in Suggestions
This would help for players who get stranded in the wilderness. Each ranger station should have a name (Red Star Station, Royal Station, Etc) that could allow less experienced navigators to get their bearings. -
I like the improvised carrying device, I'm all for that kind of stuff! I'm no big bandit so most of the other stuff is irrelevant to me, but still, good suggestions. I don't give beans, but perks for you!

I posted this a month ago or so, and I sort of forgot about it. The idea of a lean to is a sort of general idea, but if you create additions to the idea, all creds to you mate!

I would love the ability to play the guitar, but its really an awful melee weapon. Its like a hollow, semi large wooden stick. If it IS going to be a melee weapon, it should be low damage and low durability.

3 things that would change dayz for the better
Airfield replied to d.walker43's topic in Suggestions
Zombies are quite persisting now a days. For the first time in months, I got killed in the forest by a zombie! -
I would LOVE to hunt with this firearm.

Good idea for a non-lethal, maybe aim for the head and hit them with one of the beanies. Could cause permanent impairment, but ay, are they really gonna be left alive?
-
Just tell me and Ill add anymore suggestions!

For those who say this is good for BIS for cash flow, you are STOOPID. DayZ has sold over 2 million copies at $30, if you take away Steams cut and more, that is still mega-millions. Silly gooses.

It would encourage people to navigate, that's for sure.

So this is kind of far out there, but I was just wondering. To all you newbies and even non-newbies, what do you think the most intimidating outfit is. Interpretations can be different, whether intimidating in your mind is what it looks like or what it symbolizes. I just want you to tell me what sort of makes you either chill, stay clear, or beware.

So they just added the camping tent, which is a beautiful addition that in its simplicity will change the course of DayZ Standalone in so many ways. I have been fully experiencing the feel of the wilderness, as me and my friends have 3 tents in the woods and are hunting, fishing, and frying worms! But we noticed a few things that would bring a more homelike feel to campsites: Sleeping Bags: Placed inside a tent, allows the player to lay inside and slowly regenerate health, but in the process lose thirst and hunger. Stays in real time and does not effect the day and night cycle. Bird Nests: Ability to find fallen bird nests that contain eggs, which can either be scrambled or eaten raw. If eaten raw, they give more protein, but put you at risk of possible sickness. Simple Traps: 1.) Foot Snare- When stepped on, it makes the player fall with a 50% chance of leg breakage. The player must struggle out which should take 8-10 minutes. 2.) Animal Snare- Used to possibly trap small or large game, depending on the size. Seasoning: Assorted herbs and nuts that can be chopped up and used to add flavor to worms, eggs, and assorted meats. Can also chop leaves and add them to the meats to make a meal. I know these ideas are not really needed at the moment, they would still be cool to have later in the future. Also, what time on 8/12/2014 will they patch the tents from dissappearing on restart?

I think later on with the ability to camo your tents, it will greatly help. If you have tents in a remote location and are willing to carry loot back and forth, then you could fair well. So I dont agree with your 3 day thing.

Just remove everything that is annoying: -Stairs -Ladders -Rooftops -Berezino -Zombies -PvP
-
Are they patching tents tomorrow so they dont dissappear on restart?
-
I like the idea of camo-ing the tent. Its an awesome idea.

Sniping innocents from the rooftops is a cowards way to have fun. But laying down coverage fire for your squad at NW Airfield isn't, thats part of the game, and it requires a hell of a lot of skill to do it right.

Now that they added those bandannas, damn, when they wrap it around their mouth, scary as HEEL.
-
Is that a longhorn? Damn, thats like finding a helicopter 5 minutes after spawning in the mod.

*watches 20 times just to hear "Where just... BANDITS" *

DayZ Wikia. The answer to all your questions.

KOS is a withstanding problem among servers. But servers that kick for killing on sight can be filed for shutdown. Either hide or be the one to do it.

Hello, so I thought I would come on to tell you guys about the most kick-ass experience I have had playing DayZ since I first bought the game. I have experienced 1100 of pure heroine, but this tops it off. My journey starts at Bolota. I started up at Svet at like 7:00 AM in the morning. I out on my auto-run key (a nickel and some poker chips) and casually ate my cereal until I reached Elektro. From there, I scouted the surrounding area, picked up an empty 1911 from the police station, and continued my trek to Bolota. Upon arrival, I noticed an obvious sign of entrance. The main gate that you come onto from the road was wide open, and so was the closest prison doors. I crouched and stalked across the wall and positioned myself in a bush. After 3 minutes of waiting, I notice 4 player in a close formation sprinting across the airfield from the farthest prison towards the barracks. On top of the ATC, another player sits with a Mosin. I bid my time and watch them recklessly scour the barracks, tents, and town of Bolota. They all group up at the water well in Bolota and are too busy filling up their stomachs to notice me slink into a nearby bush. After they finish, they begin to travel down the road towards the direction of the nearby abandoned military base. I take a few quick swigs of water, down a few cans of food, and pursue. I keep a good 300 meters at all time. As I walk, I take a tally of their gear and headcount. There are a total of 7 survivors. The sniper had a Mosin with a scope. The odd man out had a PM73-RAK and a Carbine slung on his back. The others have a mix of AK's and M4 with drum mags/double-mags and full attachments. They are all wearing OREC uniform and an assortment of derpy hats they think make them unique. They, as I expected, stopped at the Military base and skimmed over the loot, where I managed to pick up a bat they left behind. From there, I start my devious planning. The key to the whole moment was what happened next. The leader of the pack, or whom I assume was the leader, took a sudden turn off the road into a thicket of trees. The whole squad was obviously using a third-party software to communicate, as no word was uttered. One of the members of the squad cracked out a firemaking kit, and everyone went to work chopping and cutting some stones and wood. In 10 minutes, they had a fully functioning fire going. 2 squadies split off and the crack of Mosin shots in the distance could be heard. When they arrived back, the meat was put on the fire, and everyone sat around it like in real life. One of the members fell back into the trees. This was my time. I assumed he was going to take a screenshot, so I took this moment to get behind him. In all honesty, I don't have a rats ass idea on how he didn't hear my footsteps. His squadies must have been yelling in the TeamSpeak I suppose. Anyways, I take my bat, raise it, burst from the trees, and land 2 precise swings on his head. He collapses, and I enter his inventory, and in 5 seconds, I have his PM73-RAK in my hands. He has a full 25 round clip. I tap a round into his head, and then crouch, taking aim at the first threat. I tap fire 3-5 rounds into a nearby squadie who was slinging an AKM. Then, I pivot and fire into another man who was standing with his M4. That left 3 presumed dead, and 5 more rounds in my mag. One of the squadies raised his M4 and sprayed me at 5 meters. He hits me twice before I fire the remainder of my clip into his body. 4 dead, 3 to go. There where 2 M4 carriers and the Mosin sniper remaining. I considered the sniper the least of threats at close range, so I made it my priority to take out the 2 M4 carriers first. One was still sitting, presumably either A.) lagging, or B.) glitch combat logging. I run over and take cover behind his glitch sitting body, just as the retreating M4 carrier sprays in my direction. He kills my human meat shield, giving me enough time to pull out my 1911. I quickly stand up and rapid fire in his direction. I get a lucky shot that puts him down, not for sure at the time if it was for good. Finally, my attention rests on my final opponent, the sniper. Just as I down the last M4 carrier, a Mosin bullet goes haywire to my right from 20 meters. He is leaning from behind a tree. I look up at the ceiling, pray to god, whip out my bat, and rush. He fires another 2 shots at my weaving and sprinting mass. I rush up to the tree and crouch as he leans and takes another shot. I swing 3 times into his vest as he shoots at me. Finally, I knock him out, take his Mosin, and shoot him in the skull. I walk over to one of the M4 carriers and pluck his M4 off his body. One by one, a round is landed into all 7 of the downed, presumably bandits. I did a quick review of their incredibly abundant loot, kitting myself with a Mosin and a PM73-RAK with clips to last me WW3. To end my journey, I plop down, take out the just finished meat from the fire, and allow myself to feast. Fuck those who say DayZ Alpha is not exciting, you just need to make it exciting!

Someone has never server hopped... oh come on, you know you all do it too.
