    U.B.C.S. Story. Never Get Comfortable

By some stroke of luck today we managed to find an empty water bottle and two cows. So now we can pass around a water bottle at water sources. We are set until 1.7.1.2 comes out. Thankfully, I logged on this morning and picked up all the loot before I took a nap. I had a feeling a server restart was coming. Unfortunately, when I logged on our tents were gone! Eaten by the server. We only lost an M14, but I managed to hold onto all the other good loot. Stay tuned for that bit. We are currently working on our own servers and teamspeak. Not the cheap servers/TS either. Roughly over a hundred a month to run them. Looks like we will have three servers. One for testing new patches before implementing them on the main servers. Then one server possibly set for -6GMT and the other for +6GMT.

    Kicked for banditry

People cannot kick you for being a bandit. Report it to the 'cheating' thread. Abusing admin privileges is against ToS for Day-Z servers.

The reason I love this game

This. This one thousand percent. I hope Rocket doesn't change much of the gameplay before the game hits Beta. I mean... Its spectacular as it is and I hope more is to come. I know exactly how you feel. Its such a rush and has my heart going like mad and my body shaking a bit. I have to log off after intense firefights when we get back to camp just to calm down.
  4. Punish people for playing a legit way? Rocket WANTS PvP. It is a BIG part of the game. Reducing the activity is not likely to happen. Infact if Bandits were still spawning with food and water after the 1.7.1.1 update bfore the 1.7.1.2 update I might come down and kill some new players for food and water with how rare it is now. I think if you want to not engage players in PVP you are playing the wrong game... Its revolved around 'killing zombies and bandits.' Its on the main-page. I am not trying to discourage your suggestion, it just seems illogical for a Mod developed around this type of gameplay that Rocket wants.

    SERVER HOPPING firefights (*BIG problem*)

As a sniper, you should never be in the same location after you fire a shot. If you do not kill your target or suspect more than one target, move somewhere else. I do not agree with people disconnecting, but the basic concept of being a sniper is 'One shot one kill' You fail to shoot and kill, move, they will likely round behind you and try to kill you. I always MOVE when someone server hops, I always pick spots that require a clear way to see someone coming up to me. I move to see that spot and I have killed dozens of survivors and bandits that way. Even ones who disconnect like what they have done to you. It is a big help.

    Cooked Meat health disapearing

Confirmed also. Experienced with multiple friends as well. Sometimes the health would save, sometimes it wouldn't. We eventually settled for blood transfusions and it was fine.

Dallas 48 locked with TOP members

If you do it constantly to obtain new loot and equipment, you can get blacklisted as far as I know due to the ToS for hosting Day-Z servers. So, stop saying 'OMG ADMINS CAN DO WHAT THEY WANT.' They are not supposed to be doing that and those admins abusing their privileges should be reported.

Thanks! I wrote this up when I was dead tired. I didn't get a chance to place it in a word document.

    U.B.C.S. Story. Never Get Comfortable

Oh yes, we definately hit up the Stary Camp often. We normally watch over it with two snipers as two guys go in. The other day we almost died. Blue was watching over us with a DMR as I went in with Hop's to loot the tents when someone BARELY missed Hops and I dove for the trees. Blue turned around to check the hill but I guess because the guy missed he logged. We were about ready to comb the hillside for him. Ive found three Heli-crash sights and we found no loot at any of them. The server restarted, booted up, We saw TWO crash sights, got all excited. No loot. So disappointed.

    U.B.C.S. Story. Never Get Comfortable

@ Zantiago - I hear you. Bluefox and I normally do that. Hops and Jenkins had the M297 and M4A1 for a bit while Blue and I had DMR's. Jenkins went offline and then this story happened. I was unaware Berenzino had blood packs! Our next goal is to fix up a car and then we will definitely be hitting that place up at some point. *Marks it on the map.* And yes, its definitely a game that gets a rise out of me emotionally. I don't mind FPS's like L4D, or so on. But It has been /so/ long since I have played a zombie survival game of this magnitude. I am very much enjoying it and will continue to enjoy it for a very, very long time. I had a guillie suit, once. I also had an M9, Once. Haha. but I died, this was before Hop's and I got together and now we rarely die. We don't do that camping Chenro or Electro thing. I would guess you could consider us Bandit Killers? Or really, killing anyone. If you've played Diablo 2 or Runescape, they often referred to those players as PKK's. (Player Killer Killers.) I suppose, thats what we are. Thank you for the amazing tip.
  11. I don't have an issue finding weapons, the New LoS patch allows me to sprint through towns without much care for zombies, find the nearest market, crouch down, quickly loot it up, go out the front or back doors to lose the zombies and then sprint north with my new equipment. I have never had an issue with finding weapons. Now Food and Drinks on the other hand... FML.
  12. I have to agree with the zombie post. I was unable to find many drinks for a bit. Then I remembered reading zombies loot drops were updated. I rounded up a handful of zombies and lit them up. Found two cans of soda and some sardines. I am also finding an increased amount of animal spawns, providing plenty of meat. Being forced to engage zombies is a bit nerve racking, but with the new LoS feature I can grab a few, duck into a building, shoot a couple, get out of the building, aggroed zombies loose interest and I loot up the corpses.

    U.B.C.S. Story. Never Get Comfortable

... Well when I think about it we have about eight pieces of uncooked meat and three pieces of cooked meat. We however, somehow have no water bottles and like two cans of Soda. Which Hops warned me with his last one if I started dying of thirst he'd drink it infront of me then shoot me. That was a good laugh until I remembered he'd actually do it. Haha.

Damn you are right hops. We went to Vybor for food and came out with better weapons. What a backwards world Day-Z is.

    WTF agro bat man

Did anyone inform Shadow that this is Alpha and we are technically the ones testing this game? Just saying. Explain to me why that's a reason to not voice dissent about features we don't like in a game? Isn't the point of testing something to tell the person making the product the things we enjoy and the things we don't like? If we all become yes-men like the disproportionately vocal individuals shouting down every negative thread' date=' the game should just release as is, because it would no longer be a test. Point being, the objective of a test is to get responses; telling him that we are unsatisfied with the current patch is what will make the game better. If people actually follow the "leave if you don't it" policy, it might as well become a single player game. That's not the solution. Alpha is a valid response to server statuses, patch delays, technical difficulties, etc. but not implemented game features. Testing is exactly the reason alpha exists; it'd be pointless without both positive and negative responses. Though I will concede that there's a good portion of rage posters who are as bad as the yes-men, screaming without any reasoning. [/quote'] I never said it was 'Yes-men' status. The feedback here isn't negative, its inflammatory because a man is pissed off about the games change in status when you could even say the game isn't to their specification because they got used to it in Alpha. Now if he said something along the lines of "This game no longer lets me sneak as well. I am having difficulty doing things I could normally do like crawl from building and zombies come!' That is MUCH more constructive and accurate feedback. Even if its negative.

  17. Hey everyone! I am trying to locate the admin for the server I generally play on... But I don't see a list or a way through Day-Z on Arma2 or a updated list here on the forums. Thanks in advanced!
  18. U.B.C.S. Ravin

Is there a list of server admins?

Some NVG and m107 banditry at NW airfield

This is why I do not go to the airfield at night. No NVG yet.
  21. A lot of my friends ask me how Hops and I met. We have been playing together for a week now but our teamwork is amazing and we always seem very accepting of our roles and communicate flawlessly. Always on the same wavelength and we seem to be in key with our goals. We however, have two very different moral standpoints and views on the deadly land of Chernarus... Hops and I met actually with him shooting me in the back with a silenced M9. It hurt bad and I whipped around shouting 'Friendly!' surpisingly, he let me live. I bandaged myself in the corner of a barn and clutched my crossbow. He came back later asking if I was alright and he considered killing me, but decided not too. Knowing noone else in the land he and I teamed up. I was reliable and he knew a lot about the land. We spent a lot of time around Chenro that first get together we had, avoiding people and killing off a few bandits that came at us. It wasn't until the second day when I was with Hop's I realized how much my perspective on this land would turn... When Hop's was offline I managed to find a ghillie suit and a AK Kobra. I was happy! My first real equipment. Hop's had died at some point so I went to meet him at the Eletro Docks. Some hacker shot me through a crane and killed me when noone could see me. I could see him from third person so I knew I was safe, but somehow he managed to pinpoint me. Saddened by this Hop's and I started over. Walking through Eletro that night I was feeling bitter, but still thinking I could trust people. Hops and I are sneaking through the middle of town when I spot a player next to us in the cars and we all aim handguns at eachother, two of us and him. I ask, "Are you friendly?" The player replied, "Yeah, I am." Hops turns and aims his gun, keeping aim. "Come over here, get out of the road." The man crouch walks over slowly, when within range, Hops suddenly shoots the man in the side of the head. His body crumples over. Somehow, we do not attract a single zombie. Mortified I say. "Dude! Hops?! What the hell man!" Hops begins to pick at the body, grabbing the ammo and food with the Alice pack, telling me. "Its either us or them... Keep that in mind." Holding the can of beans covered in blood I pass a glance at Hops, then the can and break it open with a still confused expression on my face. The beans taste bitter... but I manage to not complain about it anymore. I had to get used to it. People were gonna kill us and we had to kill them. It was just a fact I had to accept. We headed out of Electro and I never looked back. Not even knowing if I was a Bandit or simply just surviving. I guess you could say this was hell.
  22. Delete Please. Appearently Relogging a few times to the server it fixed itself with no admin help. Very odd, but pleased.
  23. Excellent story! I think its a lot of fun to read about people who were trying to be honest players, but the harsh reality of the Day-Z world twists their prespectives. +5.
  24. So, I have started a small clan of friends and people we help. As generally up north you shoot whoever you see first and don't ask questions. Anyway, the tale of the U.B.C.S. is as follows... I am unsure if these individuals were fellow Bandits, or survivors. But we lit them up. This was near the North West Hanger by Stary. My friend Hops and Jenkins were with me at the airfield after a server reset to the very far southwest side to hit that first barracks up. Everything goes smoothly. Jenkins is spotting a nice M16 with a Nade launcher, while Hops is running with a M249. I am at their back with a DMR. We approach the field and discuss our approach. As this is the first time Jenkins was with us. We decided upon the fact they both would go forward at the hangers and I would hang back in the middle crawling as support to count the Zed's and watch for people. About the third hanger down I turn to crawl through the brush and stop dead in my tracks, asking Hops over our steam call. "Hops, hold up, I got a Zed infront of me." He pauses and he suddenly says over the mic. "That's not a zed! Thats a player!" In an instant, I think of why this player did not shoot me, I thought about asking if he was a friendly, but saying that would give away the fact I know hes there, as we are both in the brush, looking RIGHT at eachother. The only fact he might have thought I didn't see him was I had a Mic and I didn't need to type, but I kept crawling to the side. I instantly swing the rifle around and take aim, blasting the guy, but hes in the brush so its hard to see but he tried to get up and fell, I assume my shot hit him in the leg or chest, knocking him unconcious and bleeding or had a broken leg. It didn't matter, I loaded another shot into the body where I see blood spluttering out into the air. I suddenly hear the M249 going off a few times with Hops going, "Another one! Hes coming right for you!" Before I can even get a look due to the brush in the way Hops took him down. Zombies start to swarm us and we regroup in the hanger across the way, mop up the zombies easily and run back across to loot the corpses. A nice Coyote Backpack, trenching tools, AK Kobra, handful of ammo and lots of canned supplies so we don't need to a town to resupply for a few days. We breath for a moment, Taking a spot in a hanger corner so we can keep an eye out incase anyone comes back while we wonder how close we just came to dying. After about twenty minutes, we continue on, not finding much else. All and all, it was a great firefight. Teamwork is important. Up North, you shoot first and ask questions later.

    U.B.C.S. Story. Communication is important.

We currently are not inviting anyone with us until we sort out better recruitment and consider going to make a clan. For now, its just a few of my friends and I together. We might be purchasing our own server and then most likely start recruitment then.
