What is your logic, Bandits/PKers in general?
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to avalontreman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I have to agree with Sexygoat. With Globalchat/side chat missing by the time you get close enough to use direct chat, they might shoot you, or shoot you out of the fact of you might shoot them. The fact you have a better gun then THEY do might lead them to assume you are a bandit, and kill you for what you have. I cannot count how many times this has happened to me. If they have nothing, shooting them means nothing. If they have a gun, its a very high chance they will be a threat. Finding low level guns is not difficult. However, finding a M4A1 is. However, I do not go down south to camp Chenro or the coast at all. I am much further up north collecting better equipment and killing other bandits/survivors who can shoot back at me. I die often enough, but mostly from doing stupid shit like ramming a player with a bicycle. :P -
I like the hatchet because its even quieter than the silenced weapons. I wanna kinda chop up a line of zombies, then have someone follow them confused and then come out like the shining.

Haha. Its actually almost morning here. 5:03 am. :P I might be american, but I am a long haired-redheaded irish boy my friend. -
Ah. Sorry, I messed up posts. Was reading between several posts about and misread. Forgive me. My friend doesn't know if he wants to use the DMR or AS50. So he keeps both. he puts one in the tent. For nights he uses the DMR, then during the day he uses the AS50 and normally sits about 1000m behind us. Its insane. At the topic of what you use with NVG, I use a M4A1 silenced. Its got a red dot sight and I find it very reliable. I can't wait until I get into a firefight with it.

1.7.1.4 still drops FPS like a bag of dirt

I am not sure if the comment about AMD video cards is trolling or not, but I do have an AMD video card as well. ATI Radeon HD 5770. -
1.7.1.4 still drops FPS like a bag of dirt
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to thealgerian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Near any major towns when Zombies start to spawn my FPS plummits. Like Eletro, Stary, or Chenro. When they despawn, its great. Its not an issue with my card either, or my computer. Its something with their new setup/spawn rate from the server to client that is just making the FPS go through the roof. I am sure it will be fixed and fine tuned. -

Do the helicrash locations respawn loot?
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to james2464's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They respawn during server crashes. And I think they do, but its a long respawn time. -
The real difference between DMR and AS50 is the DMR is NVG compatible, but the AS50 isn't. The AS50 however is Effective of up to 1800 range, it also able to one or two shot vehicles and shoot through most walls.
-
DMR is usable with NVG.

Are you going solo? I have yet to be sniped at the Airfield. Ive been shot at several times going to the Starry Tents however. All attempts have failed and I run for the damn trees!

Today I must say was one of our greatest firefights. The story is as followed... After getting a cold and coughing. We decided to head down south to attempt to get antibiotics. Like the morons we were, we had no food or drinks. So we were stuck. Bluefox and Hops kill one another and I become zombie food. We all restart so I am no longer coughing. After spending a few hours raiding Eletro, while Bluefox was lost and unable to find camp, Hops and I run north to meet Bluefox at the camp, pick back up our better equipment and drop off our stocked up piles of blood-packs, Morphine, and Epi-pens. We consider our options, low on food and drinks, we decided to hit up Vybor for supplies. Its rather useful and we have never really met many individuals there. We run up along the field having fun shooting zombies along the way. As we roll up near the smoke stacks, we pause to discuss what is going on. Hops says, "I know we have been here many times before, but do not get comfortable." As if some gift from God we hear Markovo shots from Vybor. We all hit the ground. Hops with his M14, Bluefox and I with DMR's. Suddenly, Hops yells out. "Guy in the market!" Being in the field a bit away, Hops and Blue can see the guy, but I cannot. "Ghillie on the school." I relay back to them, all three of us take aim up, Blue is unable to find the target this time. Hops releases a shot with the M14 and the guy goes down! We quickly break off to the left around the town to stay in the field, silencing off the zombies that came for us. We crawl slowly through the field, checking all of our sides when Blue says 'Two on the Hill!" I am once again in a bad spot to see them, but Blue and Hop's take them down quick, they both die. Our hearts are racing. We all get up to a crouch position, thinking thats all we heard of... We round the building to the street leading to the Office/School building and I turn the corner to see two men with silenced M4A1's. Unlike before, I knew this was a player, No sidearm and not ironsights I shoot from the hip with the DMR, Killing the player infront of me. Quickly strafing to the side I shout. "TWO INSIDE!" The second player must have been hit also, as he was bleeding. I go prone and watch the opening when Blue suddenly says. "Right in-fucking-front of you!" I don't get a chance to fire as I take a clip of silenced M4A1, Dropping dead. Bluefox and Hops light him up, he drops dead also. I don't even care I am dead. We are fairly positive this was a well organized and heavily equipped clan. Blue and Hops scrap up two M4A1 silenced with ten clips of ammo, two NVG, AS50 with three clips, Range finder, several GPS's. They don't even CARE about what loot the Ghillie guy had on the roof, they got out, went to camp and calmed down. I spent my time jogging back with a wide grin. It was a damn good day.

U.B.C.S. Story. Never Get Comfortable
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to U.B.C.S. Ravin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
@ Jokkl - Bluefox is my roommate and best friend. He decided to get the game after I had been playing it. This was his first night with us. @Zan - Hahaha. @ Xer - If we get to big, we will likely be splitting our groups up into 'squads' Each city will take roughly 4-5 people with them. Then we will break up the Map of Day-Z into U.B.C.S. sectors within our teamspeak. When a Squad is within that sector, they move to that channel in TS. we will of course have a main channel called 'Camp' or 'Base' Something along those lines. -

Not interested. This is just for people who camp Chenro and Eletro, not real bandits at all. Count me out. -

So, as it stands now, we only have three types of Zeds and no real difference between them besides speed. This thread is a suggestion more or less or to pool ideas. Please criticize, discuss, or suggest some things here. I swear to god if I hear someone say 'ADD SPECIAL INFECTED' I will slap you so hard. Classify different Zed's into groups. This should greatily increase the scare factor for zombies and add a lot more variety to the type of zombies. The fast running 'walker' Zeds should continue to run but hit and cause bleeding/do less damage overall. These zombies could seem as a hindrance and force players to move/feel uncomfortable when zombies come sprinting in their direction. 'Monkey'/crouching zombies should hit and do more damage. They also should apply a debuff that /slows/ your character or cripples them. However, due to their imp-like state they should have reduced vision and sound. Yet obviously if you fire a gun off, they will come hopping. Crawling Zombies should /grab/ or lock players into place when they hit and do almost no damage. This zombies should have the lowest visual range by the highest hearing. These zombies should also break legs easier. /New/ Zed. Real Walkers. These Zeds do not run, but shamble. mostly found in the heavier cities these zombies are normally in homes and can knock players down fairly easily. Making sneaking indoor's/close quarters Zed combat hard. These zombies should have the highest hearing and visuals, but easily lose LoS. All Zombies should continue to move to the last known location of visual contact and hearing said player/noise. Current Blood Setup (Via Day-Z Wiki) 12000 - Max Blood < 9000 - Sussceptible to "one shot Knock out" from zombies < 8000 - Colour and sound begin to fade < 5000 - May fall Unconscious < 4000 - Black and white screen, loss of much hearing capability 0 - Player Dead Each specific Zombie should have increased/decreased affects depending upon the amount of blood you have. Walkers < 10000 - Susceptibility to bleeding < 8000 - Increased chance of coughing/becoming sick Crouchers < 12001 - Chance on hit to slow their target < 8000 - Increased chance to spread coughing/becoming sick If target is bleeding, Crouching zombies become 'more' aware of the target and begin to seek out the bleeding suspect. Crawlers < 12001 - Chance on hit to root/stop the target for x amount of seconds. < 7000 - Increase chance to break bones. Thanks for reading!

Mmm... With the new 1.7.1.1 patch that building issue shouldn't be a problem. I would just move out the building or to the side and the zombie generally moves to the location inside the building they last saw you. I know I always go prone if they see me inside now and crawl away from the spot, then they turn away. Haha. yeah, I got into the habit of closing doors so I can hear the open incase bandits/zombies come in behind me and my friends. We are far to careful with all of that.

What's your best sniper spot?
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to Alterlai's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Haha Big. Thats a nice spot. I generally actually enjoy buildings laying beside them facing Hills, but thats just me killing other bandits/survivors. In my story we killed a bandit from a hill, then two more running up the hill to kill us and finally two more in the city. Movement is key. Always nice to have friends and spotters. -
When will 1.7.1.2 be out?

I recommend putting your gear in a tent and finding your friends Even though that isn't full-proof as server restarts/updates tend to devour tents at times. Spriggan is Aussie also! Our Eagle Eyes Jenkins is Aussie also O:

Other buildings like 'firestations' have 'military' listed loot. They offer the same loot I do believe besides a few things like silenced weapons. Actually, thats not true. My friend found an MP5SD in a deer stand just this morning and he was like 'Buwha?" I completely agree a decaying corpse should not sprint at you. If you want a good example of a variety of zombies, dead island is an excellent way to explain the different types of zombies. Freshly infected individuals can have less wounds and possibly be mistaken as survivors, though when aggroed they start to sprint at you. Heavily damaged looking zombies (Current models) should be 'walkers' and so on. I also rarely go to Starry or the Airfield. I end up hunting players in the neighboring towns when they go to collect loot to kill other players. Like Vybor. Your Marokovo will kill a bandit. I have killed many people with it, catching them with their pants down is really easy and just taking your time before rushing into a city is something everyone should do. You'd have a LOT less bandits killing you. Instead, everyone runs in or rushes, getting impatient then complain the game is too hard. Also, the original concept of "Night of the Living Dead" Zombies from the original horror movies from 1968+ all were able to see just fine. I suggested the visual impairments due to how the zombies was positioned. Standing can see better, crouching should see less, and crawling should be near damn blind as a bat.

Any way to "whisper" to a single player?
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to despair (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Nope. My friend doesn't use VOIP and he uses it to type to use all the time in direct chat. It sucks because 20m isn't that far and we always miss his chat. So unless you like a butt buddy... I recommend using headsets. -
safe to change skin now with latest beta and 1.7.1.1?
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to stimpen's topic in New Player Discussion
I changed my skin to camo and it worked fine. To be safe I dumped my gear in a tent, then tried it on. It worked. My friend did the same, and it worked. We both relogged and did this. I would recommend setting up camp first then trying just to be safe. -
