This happened to us oddly today, only Jenkins could see it from seeing inside the V3S Civilian. When he got out, he couldn't see it, the image was frozen in the air. When we tried to look around where he saw it, there was nothing! Ghosts!!!! Our camp is haunted!

Not really trying to get anyone. It got me too! XD

We normally always find them in markets or offices. Vybor and other cities along the side, not major cities, generally always has them for us... but this was after .5. I haven't seen any camo outfits. Hm. I never pick up the AKM. I always go with the Kobra. That red dot sight is amazing. O: Least when I don't have a silenced weapon that is my money maker. -

... Oh man... We started keeping our civilian clothing so before we head down south we can swap out into the Ghillies and then just be derps. I am so going to run hatchet murderer in Eletro, shouting "Nononononono." -
U.B.C.S Story. Night Vision is like joyriding...
U.B.C.S. Ravin posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This story follows the next day after the shootout in Vybor. We spend our whole day watching the sun go down. No longer afraid of the night. With a third pair of NVG we hand them over to Bluefox. We are all now sporting NVG, several M4A1's silenced, Blue with his AS50 and several clips of silenced ammo. The sun grops, its pitch black. Not a soul is awake in Chernarus... Except for us U.B.C.S. Now full night operational we spend over eight hours combing every city we can for car parts and Ghillie suits. It takes us a full night, but we finally find three suits and several car parts to fix up our first car together. Its loud, beautiful and red. Now in Ghillie suits and silenced equipment we joyride down the main highway towards Chenro, blowing over zombies as we laugh at how fun it is... Then how unfun it was when we spent half an hour trying to figure out why the gas pumps don't work... We remembered there was no power so we tried the large cylinder tank! Success! We drive off into the night just having a blast. After a bit, we drop Hops off, he gets some sleep. Bluefox and I decide to pick up two of my friends who are new, Stuck in Chenro and Eletro. We roll up quietly on the outskirts of Chenro to find the Deer-stand where Vivi is located. Shes out throwing flares and Blue and I become blind, nearly crashing into the Deerstand. I cuss out informing her to stop and put out the flares, dragging her out into the darkness to the car with a small G17 flashlight. Feeding her some cooked meat and passing my water bottle. We hit up Eletro, Finding Oni stuck ontop of an industrial building, too dark for her to get down she cannot locate the ladder. Bluefox and Vivi sweep the firestation for gear, salvaging up some more silenced M4A1 ammo and I find a nice M9SD. Taking a quick pitstop to refill some Jerry cans and refill waterbottle, we finally head to camp. After a long night out of hunting for medical supplies, finding a crashed helicopter with some ammo, fixing a car, bringing more people back to camp, all and all it was another good day. Grabbed a few screenshots with NVG and the campfire going up. U.B.C.S. Camp.img U.B.C.S. Note. Must fix a car with off-roading, this Civilian Bentley is slow as hell over the grass. Sent from Ravin to Hops. -

We did. Noone joined at night and everyone kept leaving. So we had a blast. We weren't trying to engage in a fight with anyone, so it mattered very little. Gotta have some downtime, right? -

Tin cans and a hatchet? Professional murdering right there. I am gonna try it. -
The more I look at it, the more it looks like a Leaf. Damn Jenkin's is trolling us!

I feel like the camping tent spawn rate went up. We found five today.

I am pretty sure they were not expecting us to come back, and when we killed their friend they were in shock, I looted his MP5 with six clips and took his alice pack when I ran back up north. I love the Mp5SD more than the M4A1. -
U.B.C.S. Story. Hop's doesn't like taking point.
U.B.C.S. Ravin posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We had a pretty good laugh today with a bandit who got very overconfident with himself. Jenkin's, Bluefox, Hops and I raid up a Heli-crash, Finding a FN FAL and some supplies, then we round Vybor up for some food and equipment. After that, we find a tent to replace our tents that despawned due to the .5 update. We aren't upset, we just lost some spare guns and food, and replacing the equipment was easy. We decide to hit up the Barracks near Starry to see if we can scrap up some more ammo for our guns. Blue takes the normal sniping post and Jenkins stays up with him to be a spotter as Hop's and I head down. Hop's takes the left tents and I sweep the right tents. Becoming very good at sweeping the tents we are dodging through them all quickly, possibly taking two minutes to sweep them. The last tent Hop's doesnt check yet as hes looting something, so I sweep around and get into the tent. Hop's rounds the tent and comes inside with me as hes got the bag space to loot a few frag nades. Before he can even set foot into the tent, a sudden ZING flings out into the air and smacks Hop's dead in his side. He drops like a rock. I push my back against the tent and raise the M4A1 silenced. "What the fuck happened?!" Blue says over the Mic, Jenkins is typing like a madman, incoherent mostly. I barely get to catch my breath as the tent suddenly shakes and something explodes next to me like a gernade. My screen blurs hard and my vision messes up. Going into shock I can't see or hear anything, but did not lose any blood. The guy must've thought he killed me. Blue suddenly calls out. "Ravin, are you running?" "No damnit I can't see shit!" Another sudden ZING flies out and the sniper who hit Hops drops dead. I pause in the tent for a minute, Jenkins is sweeping the area. Blue keeps on his sniping point. I drop all the useless bandages and canned food we gathered from the tents and pick up Hop's M4A1 and his NVG's with his ammo. Scrapping up his Coyote Backpack. Poking my head out I ask. "Where did you kill the guy?" "Second tent on your left down from the last one." Making a quick sprint I find his corpse. A single AS50 with two clips. Got a toolbox too and some sandbags and other toys. Overjoyed I quickly scrape up what I can, asking Jenkin's to come loot the gun. A minute passses, Jenkins arrives, no incident. We loot the gun and some food, running out of the camp and out of sight. Blue regroups with us and we rush back to camp to drop off our goodies. Hop's now insists hes done going down with me and will now use that AS50. He doesn't like sweeping buildings with me because he always gets killed and I always manage to not die. -
It could be. I kept zooming in on it also.
-
I doubt its a glitch too. Haha. It was only one person who could see it from sitting in the back of the V3S Truck. When I moved the truck, the still image was gone. Haha.
-
I doubt it was a hacker if it was still framed, unmoving and only one person could see it. :P I'd believe it was Rocket peeking into the game like a boss.

Nice Story. Loved it. You did what you had to do to survive my friend. I love it when you have a moment of clarity after the third kill. "Man I am sorry I am just hungry... OH YEAH HE HAD BEANS." I laughed real hard. -
What is your logic, Bandits/PKers in general?
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to avalontreman's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Most Survivors have died a lot in towns. I can almost PROMISE you if I went into town with my Ghillie on and silenced M4A1 /any/ survivor would shoot me for my equipment. -
I have read in several places updating isn't an issue with you update Day-Z, you supposedly can play with previous version servers. However, when I update it tells me everytime you are "Using the wrong version of the Day-Z code. 1.7.1.x. You are using 1.7.1.Y." Did I read wrong? Or was it people saying the Beta for Arma2 was backwards compatible with other servers that are not updated to Beta? Thank you for the replies.

Questions about backwards compatibility.

Thank you LVG. I understand. I was just confused. Doing forum searches didn't yield much help. Which is why I asked. :P <3 LVG -

You said 'The Beta is not Day-z' not 'The Beta is, but not day-z'. Now I understand better. Thank you. :P -
Questions about backwards compatibility.
U.B.C.S. Ravin replied to U.B.C.S. Ravin's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Well, I am more concerned about if the Day-Z itself when you update is backwards compatible. IE if you can play .5 on .4 servers, so on. This seems to not be the case. -
U.B.C.S. Story. V3S Civilian is Cursed.
U.B.C.S. Ravin posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Much of our encounters now have been pretty tame after Vybor. We repaired our car and woke up at our new and improved camp We set ourselves up pretty good! I think you will notice here I am missing my Ghillie suit. You would indeed be right, and it deals with that truck. The V3S. After getting our car, we decided to get better things. The server had more people on it now that it wasn't pitch black. We felt it would be safe to travel to Solnichniy and Berezino for car parts. Everything goes smoothly for the first hour. We gather up some wheels, missing some Engine parts. We come back from Berezino to hit up Solnichniy to drop of the wheels. We even get lucky to find a bike in the middle of the road and I end up riding it. Which you look ridiculous on with a Ghillie Suit. Hops and Jenkins use the car, driving it up along the road with me lagging behind. Some god forsaken reason the bike is going about 65mph on the highway. I fear that I may fall off this bike and break my neck. This was least of our concerns as Hops and Jenkins spot someones bus just outside of Solnichniy. AK rounds suddenly ring out, hitting Hop's and Jenkin's car. They heave through a few barricades in the city. Three enemy players come out of the city, no doubt hearing their car rolling up miles away. Hops and Jenkins make it through just fine. Few windows blown out. I however, for some reason, decide to run through town with the bike. The player seemed confused as I roll up, smash my bike into him. But not before he gets a few shots off on me, killing me. I noticed however a few minutes later it says 'So and so was killed.' Killing him also with a bike felt oddly pleasing. The V3S is still missing its engine, so I run through Chenro dodging zombies full sprint with nothing but an M1911 I found, trying to find parts. People must've thought I was a noob, but ducking into an apartment complex, crouch running, weaving around a corner and out the back, over a fence and around a corner generally loses the zombies on my tail. A few nice hatchet swings cleans up any intelligent zombies that figure out I am coming around the second door. FINALLY finding the Engine parts, a glitch kills Hop's when he finds a dirtbike. He spawns near Solnichniy and notices the bus is still there. He attempts to drive it back to me and he picks me up near the outskirts of Eletro. In the meantime, I find Engine parts and we think this is going to be the motherload. We would have FOUR vehicles. Four of them! Why so many? We don't know, we just want it! I want the V3S most of all. We attempt to round some zombies when they hit the bus and the bus stops dead. "Hops, why did we stop?" "I am not doing it man... Its--..." Suddenly, the bus explodes and we discover why those three left it there. All I can do is hope I respawn near my corpse. After two attempts of respawns I do spawn fairly close to my corpse and I run for it, looting my old backpack with the engine parts and getting it on my back. At that moment, the V3S was mine. I pull it out of the city and round the tracks, making for a side road and over a hill, heading back to camp with it. Picking up Hop's later on in the day we decide to hit up a market. our first big V3S run. We sweep up several cities of their supplies... The run would have went much smoother if... Well. I didn't shoot Hop's in the head by mistake as he was refueling the V3S. Then inside the same marketplace in the same city, I cross over informing Jenkins and Tes to cease fire so I can assist them better, Tes ends up shooting me in the head! Thankfully, I spawn near the city of Kameko and I am picked up easily, we all rush north, putting our supplies away and setting up barbed wire everywhere to keep out people who might get ideas. It appeared, the V3S didn't like one of our tents. It slowly over the next two hours made its way to our spare equipment tent and levels it, crushing the contents inside! We lose several days of equipment. We all stare at the truck at this point, wondering if it is worth it. Its my truck it seems, just like my name. 'Omen of Misfortune.' and I still love it. -
I never really shared one of Hops and mines first big major kills. I am not sure if we were stupidly lucky or just sneaking so well, even for being young guns with nothing but M1911's and AK's. Taking two hours to clear out the airfield hangers and barracks must be pretty bad I am assuming for our first time. Paranoid that any player or bandit can be there at any moment and kill us. We finally get to the firestation together, our M1911's in hand Hop's leads up the stairs, we both check for loot, not finding much. Up bit by bit. I stop on the second floor and Hop's gets to the top floor. I pull out a set of my binoculars to check if anyone is coming down the runway or not. Suddenly, a single M1911 shot rings out above me. Instantly I slam down into the heavy cement floor and glance up, shouting into the mic, "Hops?! What the hell man?! Who is shooting at us?" Taking a quick moment to glance out the window I see the air control tower, but NOONE is around at all, I mean noone. Not even Zeds. Which was odd. Hop's doesn't reply to me and I get worried. I glance up and then back out another window as I have become rooted in place. A second shot suddenly rings out. "Jesus!" I shout again and hear the sound of flies above me. It was a long pause between those two shots and Hop says. "Shit man, get up here quick and help me loot this!" Quickly dashing up the third flight of stairs I see a dead player in a ghillie suit. We loot some NVG's off of him and a M249. I take his M9 silenced pistol and GPS, I also loot his map. Jacking all the food we can we bolt the hell out of the firestation. Hops says, "I don't know what happened. He was just laying there with his ass pointed at me and I shot him, he didn't go down the first shot so I had to do it again." We had to have caught that player with his pants down. We took so long between each hanger not attracting a single zed might have been the reason. Not knowing or really trying to figure it out we run as far as can from the airfield. Living another day.

Hey Rocket, with Global/Side Chat missing how are new players able to communicate with other players safely? I am not new, but I do see the negative side of this and causes a bit of an issue with new players being unable to talk and find help/ask questions in game. Any possible solutions/fixes or maybe just 'Not for Day-Z?' I am fine with any answer, just wanna understand the process of why it was removed/disabled.

My Bandit fail would be I attempted to ram a player with a bike who was shooting at me and succeeded in both of us dying. Only to have his two buddies come over and loot my corpse, saving his loot and getting all of mine. Not mad or sad, laughed hard I managed to ram someone with a Bicycle. Was kinda hoping I would live. Yet hey, I was riding towards a guy shooting at me with an AK.
