    Yeah but couple that with a ballistics helmet and you better hope the head shot knocks them out or your on a hill, unfortunately balance gets favor over realism here
  2. Currently everything is wonky and all of our gear is "mil-grade" my point is that a loaded jacket/loaded vest is going to deflect the 22's I'm not disagreeing that the mechanics are jacked atm. I'm also stating that short of the ballistic helmet we had more protection for the mid section an I assume everything will get balanced at some point

    I think the ballistic and stab vest should be worn under your vest and coat, should only stop small arms fire. They should be police grade and not mil-grade loot. This adds realism to me (although they idea of them having storage an being looted off mil-zeds is cool). I say this because it makes sense to find them in police station/prison areas. Not sure about Russian prisons but cross the pond it's standard issue for a duty officer to have a light ballistic vest on under his uniform, stab vests are also standard issue to corrections officers in the event they are shanked. Now the ballistics vest should also provide melee protection against blunt weapons as well as axes but not agains knifes and machetes as they can easily slip between the plates. 0.02
  5. That's my point though Trev in real life the .22 at almost any range is point and shoot, but has very little penetration unless your target is next to naked. When you account that most players are wearing a coat, vest, backpack, (all loaded with gear) your odds of a "lucky" shot are slim. So far ballistics seen slightly accurate. So more than a single shot to the head makes sense. While irritating it makes sense even in a hardcore mode imho

    The compass is handy however at times difficult to see, as they wear down the also seen to become off set, to date I've found one "pristine" compass set to true north. I've also ha the same issues as you "day" servers still cycle time sunrise to sunset so odds are you entered a server during the cycle, I do use IZurvive as a map but I tend to turn all the "map markers" besides ones you find on the ingame map off so I still retain that difficulty. So the way I obtain my location for dead reckoning is find the nearest road sign, locate the town on the map and go from there I try to plan my route using roads as land marks rather than paths, traverse woodland only poking out in the open to locate a road and match it up to my location/intended path

    They are named Barnabus or zryxy? You just discribed several hostile traits, you don't have "space" until player construction comes out. So you both just stated you're going to kill me on site. If go no other reason that I came within range of you. Think about it in an apocalypse I'm going to draw down on you, we are going to determine each other position and go from there. I don't shoot on site, if you act hostile I will warn you, continue and I'll kill you, just the same I would I. This actual situation. The difference is there is no actual penalty for killing you in game. Also so I need to adhear to your style of play because you don't respect mine? You tell me you aren't playing that way fine I carry on, no harm no foul. Because I'm not going to stand in front of you because you've already stated you are hostile to anyone who isn't you, you're going to shoot me. I am in the middle of responding to you via text because my mic May be broken, so you're going to shoot me? OP you have valid points, these can be signs of hostility, beans for you. Also because this game has toggles there is a chance people who don't play with headphones don't know that they have an open mic. I've glanced down several times and discovered I had toggled chat by accident. If a guy drives past you in real life "bumpin' f*** tha police" do you shoot him? No you roll the window up (aka mute them) You don't role play got it! Not a whole lot of place for anything but personal RP atm (IE: I'm survivor traversing the wasteland) later maybe there will e more place for it or even whole servers of people that want to RP. But it's not always a sign of hostility.
  8. Says who? I didn't see a final release date a beta or even .47 hit stable. Everything is in flux, my only issue with the way people are handling the caliber issue is that they are confusing it as a thing that "hardcore" gamers should want. And as soon as someone says otherwise it becomes a pissing match. Yes it adds realism and immersion, but it's not common knowledge it's a niche knowledge that people interested in guns know. I know this information I'd lol to see it in the game but it will not bother me if it's not. Either way you should stick to your guns as a consumer thy wants to see this in the final release, you like me are paying for development our voices should be heard
  9. while highly accurate even at long ranges the .22 has very little penetration power especially when passing through multiple layers even of clothing so it's not obscene to see even in a traditional hardcore mode the .22cal being little more than a headshot weapon. I'm not disagreeing with you (just got done with a hardcore match on BF4 lol) I will pick up a sportster specifically for clearing zeds until I encounter a higher caliber rifle.

    wut? I assume this is a troll it's a known issue and they are supposed to be working on it so I hear. As of right now you just have to live with and play on. If you're responding to the OP he's not talking about after death he's talking about the fun little bug where the Hive just suddenly looses your character......     Suicide Option?

    so when the game desyncs up 7 flights of stairs 20 minutes after I log in and have made sure I am "healthy" and I break my legs and cant get down stairs I should have to hope I starve to death in or wait 40 more minutes? Suicide (short of jumping off a building which works about 20% of the time) should require a handgun, if you want to die instantly, or a blade if you wanna wait around a minute or too and bleed out. Now implementing re-spawns in the same place you previously spawned if you opt-out of life in less than an hour (only via suicide though) I'd approve of that.

    Ok you guys are going to flame the hell out of me if you don't read this whole post. It's also going sound crazy at first but I honestly think it could if done on a separate hive improve development. Once again set up a third hive for this not the main core or hardcore hive maybe even in experimental! Shut off battleeye every script kiddie worth his weight has multiple steam accounts and has multiple copies of this game. They are going to hack let them, the more we catch in alpha and beta the harder hacking will be in final. And no this isn't just because I want the uber M4 no reload unlimited ammo. It's because I want the physical final of the game to be the best possible product out of the gate. The more freedom you give a hacker the bolder they get the more flamboyant and the easier to catch. This weeds out all the quick hackers (ie: not good at it) and means that moving forward we will see fewer hacks as each one is addressed. Once we weed out the crap hackers we can focus on the good ones and that's the ones we really need to worry about in final the ones already getting around battle eye. That ones potentially causing bans of legitimate players that round a corner and catch. Hacker as he is logging out, kill and loot him and then when battleeye catches the hack bans the player holding the gear not the one that generated the gear. Again it's outrageous an it's probably from my lack of sleep in even suggesting it. But at least I'm not suggesting we do it on pubs make a separate hive or do it on experimental. But it seems MRE efficient than just hoping BE catches them or VAC (which has probably been the second worse anti-cheat program I've ever encountered) As it stands I still get Hollywood sprayed (think final shoot out of tombstone where everyone had unlimited ammo in six-shooter) a couple of times a week if not more. I'm gonna go take a nap now I'll probably regret even posting this later but here goes!

    I can see where I'd sit back with popcorn a watch that on twitch all day for the lols. GTA V utilizes a similar system for "bad players" getting reported to many times or being a dick in general gets you a dunce cap you can't take off and you can only play with other "bad sports" Problem there is that it's a broken system, in a game all about mayhem blowing up to many other players cars gets you in the "bad sport" lobby unless they fixed it because of how stupid it was. (They also charged your to replace the players car if it was insured which ranged from 100$ in-game currency to in the 100,000$ range) And rather than let hackers only play with other hackers (which is actually a really classy concept now that I think about it) I'd rather just sort the hacks out now, fix the issues and be done with them. Like I said the guys writing these hacks use multiple accounts Battleeye banning the hacker simply tells them they need to change the code. While it (to my understanding) doesn't rip the hackers game files to submit to BI for review. The only way to efficiently catch the hacks is to let them hack have the server copy the game files compare the code and then work a fix. The only real option we have right now is being lucky enough to kill a hacker scoop his loot, come on the forums report the hack say Hey I killed a hacker as stole all his hacked junk wanna come take a look at it? Hope they respond before Battleeye says hay j00 haz haxors! And ban you. It's not an easy suggestion and it needs to stay off the primary hive. But at this stage of development where everyone has access to expbranch rather than a select group. They are a step ahead of each stable patch already. Hell this might be the worst idea I've ever had but it seems to me like one of the few possibilities available to prevent launch from being DayHax because the hackers already had the final before it released. It would also allow for BI to focus on missed bugs and future content instead of weekly hot patches to fix hacks

    I really dont get the point of bambi killing.

    Me (freshish spawn) running in my new rain coat with my axe that's probably got two zeds before it's ruined to meet a buddy in Zino. "Bambi" (I had to assume this guy was new to the game in general cause he's trying to beat this zombie off more that to death, I mean I watched punch that thing in the junk like 10 times as I was running up) I do the nice thing an clober the zed for him. We begin to bandage and he finishes first (barely) I had thankfully been smart enough to fill my status and was all bright green and healthy well he starts trying to beat me off mid bandge, I'm not wearing any head gear but his swinging right at my crotch! Honestly two-three solid hits to the head and he'd have had me. So I finish my bandage tell him to knock it of and start to leave he follows and starts playing grab ass! So I give him a solid swing to the shoulder. He's still punching I tell him in voice if he stops I'll bandage him but nope Bambi learned a hard lesson that day. I hope he's gotten better at the game. But really I only kill fresh spawns that insist on trying to measure poles. Thankfully most of them just run off the other direction (I'm sure one or two has shot me in the back later but oh well)

Two words Steel Battalion, weighing in at a staggering 200$ coming packaged with it's own custom 40 button controller this one of a kind Mech game (and it's expansion/sequel which required you had the controller but did not come with one which is why I say expansion) literally deleted your save file if you failed to press the eject button before your Mech exploded! There was no checkpoint system unless you ejected, because it was on the xbox and people were still trying to figure out how to import/export save files it wasn't as simple as stowing a back up file on a flash drive. You either remember to eject or started over. Oh wait that's pretty much the same system we currently have, it just doesn't take as long to get back to where we were after we die. (Not trying to troll but your comment totally brought that game to mind so I thought if share)

    Random weapon jams

    I'm going to address your whole post but I wanted to get to this first. Once they fix/balance weapons this will never be a tough decision, AKM/M4 will win everytime. As to the rest of it I like the concept but again we have 0 time frame reference as to Z-Day - waking up on the coast. Now weapons found in police stations/bases etcetera should still be pristine (I operate under the assumption these were left during the outbreak) however weapons at say a heli-crash would make sense to be worn at best. While I don't think I've ever found a "fully worn" AKM I do find pristine AKMs with worn-badly damaged attachments which makes my head hurt because how is a weapon with "stock" busted attachments pristine? It would only make since that it's "worn" at best. But like I mentioned earlier the attachments shouldn't effect the receiver. I'm my hand guard is ruined my flashlight/bipod etc. should not function but that would not cause a Jam. Weapon cleaning kits should also repair attachments (which they might generally only find them when I have an SKS or a Mosin or pistol without attachments) I also think that they need to overhaul the "status" to exclude Pristine all together if pristine status can not be achieved once lost. A "pristine" weapon should not have any viewable status until it becomes worn. Then the item should never read better than worn if that's the highest maintainable status. Otherwise a "pristine" weapon cleaning kit should return a weapon to pristine immediately read as worn, and when used next only repair the weapon to worn, from what I understand a WCK can only repair a weapon up to it's current status. (A worn WCK will only repair a weapon to word damaged to damaged and then it's practically useless if I understand that correctly) I submit it should restor a weapon to "worn" until it's ruined but that's Just IMO. But who knows what the future holds

Read most of this thread got bored at all the KOS talk and was really surprised I didn't see more "ALPHA!!!!!!!1!1!!!!!!" I agree with most of you're point and have this to say, when players have a reason to stay in a server (ie: loot spawn is fixed which is being worked on) hopping will drop off. Ghosting is kind of being limited with the 100second timers and hopefully being fully worked on. As for a item cool down 100 times no. Again hopping dies with loot spawn being fixed. If I'm grabbing items and let's say my friend is on but playing on a different server on the same hive. Why do either one of us need a penalty for wanting to play on the same server? (Ie: I join him or he joins me) we shouldn't be forced to wait 20 mins or longer cause we can't remember what time we grabbed item X. That's just being unfair to decent players. Also the further we get into development the less I think we will see less Kill on sight. But right now "that's all there is to do!" Granted that's all there is that's "fun" to do. I personally switch between exp and stable I go everywhere attempt to break everything because I want to actively participate in the development. Yes it's kind of a bold move getting thousand of people to pay you to test your game durning development rather than paying people to do this then having an open/closed beta stage to see how the players react. But I also hope it means a lot of the hax we see now will be resolved in the future.

  19. Insomnia is a bitch! Also I think this conversation has strayed into the "L33test" corner. And rather than just go "and that's why I play hardcore" it's becoming a pissing competition. Again it's all subject to change, and to be perfectly honest I don't currently play hardcore (but will proly start so I have a throw away besides expbranch when my pals aren't on the server we play) because it doesn't have any disadvantage to me. All my status conditions etc are the exact same as "core" currently. And even then the only time I personally use 3PP is this long hikes between point a and point be, simply just to enjoy the scenery. So it'll really be no different in it's current state (my lack of 3rd person use probably also explains a lot of my deaths) but at this stage everything is in flux what is a thing that causes headaches today might be a whole new beast tomorrow. And zombie Jesus willing when we get further along Hardcore will be just that. Increased chances of sickness less time between bright green status and dark green, faster dehydration as starvation. Less over all health the things I actually think of when I hear there is a "hardcore" game mode

    Random weapon jams

    Bagging your weapons makes sense for older weapons, newer weapons (and reportedly the AK47 though I've never put it to the test) have far better designs to deal with these things. As far as transferring "weapon condition" hell no that's the whole point of picking up a new weapon. For example let's say I'm tearing ass through cherno and a sniper pings my backpack ruining my 1911. In a room I duck into to avoid death bandage etc. I find a pristine 1911, well now I'm screwed especially if that was my only weapon. Cause as soon as I pick it up BOOM it's now ruined also. Actually having condition besides ruined effect a weapon I like, unless that hand guard a zed smacked and ruined causes my weapon to jam because now we've tossed that precious realism out the window because a cracked hand guard might pinch my hand a bit but it doesn't effect anything else all in all mostly a good idea if implemented right

    In dayz as I pointed out exactly why car doors are life or death using a witty Doctor Who reference! "Doors stop bullets! Doors are cool" So in DayZ you could ride around no doors in your Jeep wind in your hair bullet in your teeth. Or you could lug that pesky door down to the beach affix it to your Jeep and live a bit longer.

    Loot should be personal

    Issue number one, loot spawns globally not locally so with your system if I've a fantastic survivalist spawning into your server means my loot will spawn for you too. Issue number two, loot does not and should never bind. Not should it spawn bound which is the only fix to issue number one, I don't want to open a door and find some other guys shotgun especially if I've been hoofing around that server for a couple hours. Issue number three. Bound loot means non-loot able corpses you instantly killed 90% of pvp. Immersion and player interaction. Your skill doesn't persist past death, what's say I've been on a hot run, haven't died in days got das uber loot and my cat jumps on my key board while I was near a ledge, I fall I die and now through no fault of my own other than possessing a cat I get crap loot for hours again.
  24. It's still all going to change. The Devs reportedly read these things and will see the camera needs to be adjusted. Bringing the third person camera in tighter solves this entire problem the only thing you remotely need it as high as it is right now is vehicles
