That was more or less my point about hopping. The only other way to do this is massive hive maps that interlock servers the way MMOs do, a couple thousand people per map, each cluster is a separate a "server" hosting a different character on it

You guys want the simplest solution and also the reason none of it will ever work? Just store characters server side. That's the only thing that would end server hoppers. Loot respawn will slow the process buys it's going I continue. The biggest issue is that right now it's a majority, there is no benefit from grouping and staying alive it's gear up kill or be killed. Once loot respawns and people actually try to group and play in a fairly normal fashioned on a regular basis it will just be the KoS griefers doing it for the most part. Also easiest fix for ghosting is if you switch servers it spawns you back on to a server where you logged out on that server not on the other server.

Ok I might be to lazy to google if my definition is incorrect or not but am I missing something about "Folding stock" rifles? I mean are talking like a "folding" butt stock? Like the ones commonly seen on shotguns and AK series assault rifles? And if that the case is the cry of OP because they could potentially be placed in a back pack? If that's the case simply make it take longer than a strap mounted rifle to take out of your pack. I personally think you should be able to instantly remove anything from your pack as quickly as you can now.

Seeing bullet counts in character/bag screen

Hit direction indicator isn't a bad idea. When you get hit in real life you physically detect where and from which direction -
Empty! Empty magazines should be common. Also finding a firearm with a magazine in it. What the hell happened in Chernerus IMHO was they are the only country that didn't repel the zombie invasion because post ArmA II they found it would be safer to load all the magazines in the country and scatter the weapons elsewhere so when the zeds attack everyone died! I exaggerate obviously but with as common as loose ammo is Id much rather find a pistol/assault rifle with a empty mag rather than a full mag and no gun the ONLY exception being the 75 round drum mag, magazines in worn or worse condition should spawn all over empty (as if dropped on the fly in combat). Back on topic, that's my point though yes finding damaged plates every now and then so long as it doesn't replace any item that could actually be more useful to survival (medkit items, good food, etc) otherwise just have the pristine plates spawn only able to be "used" in a vest (can be stored in anything but doesn't physically add protection and had the same degradation rate as any other item if you're shot or hit. I'd even be ok if they applied 50% of their normal protection if stored in a normal vest or coat or something like that maybe placing 2-3 in a normal vest applied a percentage of the protection if places in a ballistics vest. I mean it's still a ballistic plate right? You stick it in your pocket and I happen to shoot you in said pocket it's not gonna be all like "hey sorry bro I'm not in the right kind of fabric/configuration to stop this bullet!" But I don't think it should provide full value since it's not in the righ configuration and because "pockets" in this game equip to "global slots" ie: doesn't matter where it's at in your inventory it's only in your top left pocket over your heart because you say it is. And so shooting me with a plate in my pocket should assume it hit my at least partially IMHO

I won't bore you with my Magazine rant. If anything randomly finding a discarded plate in a "damaged" condition won't be out of place

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
Lithium1056 replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
Hate to tell ya but it will either be merged back in here or hidden. See like two pages back where it's happened recently. It's far easier for the Devs to track in one location -
The only issue I see there is that's adding 3-5 new loot items per loot spawn. Also I think it would be fairly uncommon to find the plates just laying about. If they incorporated the plates into the vest (ie. Plates spawn in the vests) then It might work just don't want to see the loot system clogged in places of possibly more needed items

Unfortunately Kal-Tec isn't what I'd call a exporter, most of their fire arms solid sales it's looks like. The important thing to remember is Chernerus doesn't exist. And therefore is bony constrained by limitations of does weapon "x" exist in the region. That's also the fun of video games. Personally I'd prefer the sportster over the sub-2000 but that's just me. Especially since it would take up my primary slot. -
If they decided to implement multiple levels of armor and how complicate it's be to code then I completely agree, however I foresee multiple types of armor all with a standard level of effect. Stab vest stops blades, ballistic vests stop bullets etc. but it could be nice if done right to have varied levels of armor
-
Yes, a damage model tweak is far beyond overdue and probably coming. The problem is while both actual damage resistance of a ballistics vest and the in game damage model rely on math it's hardly the same math. And that's the problem video games always encounter, grab any other video game that supports "armor" it's nearly always represented by a HUD bar similar to health weather it's a segmented line or a percentile. If anything I feel like the current models in the game use far too much math. And that based on the ballistic helmet the "armor" uses far to little. (iE: are health is based on blood, shock, status effect etc, while the armor seems to be based simply on what it absorbed) I think to truly be effective the vest should function should on shock. Don't know if you've ever strapped one on and taken a shot to the plates before but it doesn't feel good at all. So if anything ballistics vest should negate "health" damage but not "shock" damage. It should be proportionate to the caliber and always result in a "knock out" this gives us a level of balance we need, it prevents death out right (nothing's going to stop the attacker from killing you while you're out cold) and still incapacitates the victim. This is a balance I could live with. ^this will also probably get me trolled and flamed
-
It's not a difference of opinion it's just that's not how the damage model works, also I think the helmet currently "protects" the face as well. And as long as it's balanced I don't see a problem with it

barricading and base build are confirmed. As far as "having their rules enforced" good luck

Make server restart warning compulsory
Lithium1056 replied to General Zod's topic in General Discussion
Possibly yes or it could just be a incorrect setting. As has been mentioned though once they nail down loot spawns it will likely stop. We can't promise admins won't still reset servers but te every two hours thing should stop -

Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode
Lithium1056 replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
Simply put hardcore mode is not why you would expect out of a hardcore mode it's really just 3rd person disabled. Honestly I think people just call it hardcore mode to sound cool but I don't run a server so I don't know if it's a check box that sus hardcore mode. Here is what I do know! Based on what every argument I've see is is that third person is the more "hardcore" mode right now because that's a minority play style that people can't overcome with first person. All of which I've personally addressed in this post about how to fix and make 3rd person no more of an advantage than first. And I'd probably make this text real big if I was on my laptop but I'm on my phone. The only true issue from the third person camera is the "wire" it's on. It designed for vehicle use. Go hop on Battlefield 4 go to a normal server hop in a jeep and toggle third person. From a vehicles perspective the camera is fine the simple fix is..... See my other responses. The "hardcore" part isn't about the gamer it's about the effect of the mode (every other hardcore mode is 0 regen, low health, no HUD etc) if third person shooters were "babycore" they never would have made the MLG circuit. Also I'm a freaking relic I was on my way to the pro circuits when the CPL folded to MLG and guess how many FPS games from PC make the pro circuits now? There is no better play style here only different ones. Quit acting like a "l33t3st" because you'd don't play mode x or mode y! Wanna be a "hardcore" gamer? Which I honestly think has no defined definition any more, go win a pro circuit tourney get sponsored have a blast then you can run in mine or whoever'a face how you are so "hardcore" until then just have freaking fun! Accept that your style isn't my style and that's ok cause it ain't about that it's about your enjoyment. And /endrant #timetobeaunicorn #humansmakemyheadhurt -
Exactly and the one round defense plus the ballistic vest holding up realistically would overpower a person. Don't get me wrong I'm wayyyyyyyy under joyed at PvP in this game but I also understand that it's alpha. I hope beyond a shadow of a doubt that by the time we get to launch (humanity system of not) PvP isn't the end game over all and battles are fought to clear out bandits or gain turf for your clan. Right now unless you have a friend irl you're as likely to get hosed by a hacker, a camper or a ghost simply evaluate you exist. I want this world to be dynamic to really give players a reason to befriend one another and work together not just be a FFA with zombie bots on the side. When they implement fully the ballistic protection I want that to be the loot you find and automatically give to your gate guards, I want it to give a fighting chance not make them a walking death machine. Over all I know steps get taken towards balancing at each phase. But we don't need counter strikes ballistic shields turning players in to bullet sponges while team mates rain hell on a group of people just trying to survive. 0.02

I think the community has decided this will be best for a mod (or at least that's how it came across when I suggested a similar concept) I'm for it but think it'd be best on RP servers as a mod

Never say never my friend a "Guido Fawkes esque" mask would not violate copyrights. But I think it would just get lumped into the wear a mask must be a bandit camp.
-
you mean that's already in the game? Cause ballistics helmets are here bubba

There are also a multitude of apps for your cell phone/tablet people argue the immersion factor but they are there. I personally use IZurvive and turn off all legend keys aside from what's actually found in the in game map. I is no safer than using a map ingame because you have to take your eyes off the game to read the map, but it does prevent you from having to stop open and read a map close it and continue on. (If say you are running from Elektro to NWAF.

I'd support the inclusion of a "mythical" spawn, (think patient 0) could spawn with clues to the cataclysm help piece together the events leading to day z. Just have it be a hyper zed that runs like livestock rather than attacks players

I've been told there is a Russian learning guide ingame also if you find a map write down the Latin and Cyrillic names so when you come up on a road sign you get a basic idea of where you are
