I agree. I go back and forth at times but the nice thing about the exp branch is I expect my toon to perish quickly. But when we are all playing an alpha anyway, it seems weird to have the alpha-alpha.

I just hope Battle eye finally does it's job. That would be a nice change. You should have seen the silliness that erupted on a multiplay server last Friday... and every one of the players who experienced it as well said the same thing when I interviewed their new toons that ran by after fresh spawn.

So... Is it just me or do servers restart way too often?

My money is on an exploit. -
If you have a 75 rounds drum for AKM...

My 75 round drums TURN IN TO 30 rounders. I must be Chris Angel or something.... -
Excellent! Cheeki Breeki. And remember the guy talking to his friend imitating saying cheeki breeki? I thought that was a nice touch.

A Saiga fully automatic 12 gauge with drum mag would be even better.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxslOcJ9M3s

Etiquette around people sitting by a fire?
Zombie Milkman replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
As an aside, I found that I could put fresh food and some other items, like a makharov clip , in the 6 slots of the fireplace kit. I can also attach the log to the kit in my backpack which reduces 14 slots to just 4. Question: is that an exploit? -
Etiquette around people sitting by a fire?

Ah, server hopper. I get it. I am not judging either, I just Don't see the fun in it. But that said the thermal mechanics are pretty bad at the moment so... -
I get the feeling many in here haven't spent any time in the great outdoors. If this was an NFL game they would be arguing for homeruns and hat tricks to be included. Lol.

Wait, are you saying you server hop to light a fire? If so, how is that ok? -
Is it considered bad form to server hop at military areas?
Zombie Milkman replied to zombieland78's topic in New Player Discussion
Could be a server hopper, could be a cheater who had the location cheat and the movement cheat, could be dumb luck. I had one of those as well the day before .49 only it was a guy from a clan (1 of 8 who suddenly appeared) who jumped in, caught me at night while I was running... the whole thing was suspicious as they all jumped out not long after. But understand this, all the military bases are high end spawn points for any number of groups including casual players with no hidden agenda. You may think you were going someplace unpopulated, but since persistence is spreading like the clap at a swingers club the less well known military spawns are going to start getting farmed since NWAF, Balota, etc., are all looted out and only spawning very meager loot. It is part of persistence. You will want to get used to it. -

Yes, and the I have to ask you: are you being serious? FYI, I don't KOS, I also don't server hop unless my primary server took a dump or if I want a change in population. It is never for collecting items. There are clans that send groups into the woods near the various prime loot spots. They raid the joint, pop back into the woods, then log out and log in to their server. It is called server farming. It is about as lame as it gets... it is practically like performing a job... only you paid someone else $30 to do it. Talk about wasting your game time. The guy who shot you in the back was playing a game. The server farmer is performing a job for free. This is a very easy question. -
Ok, but if that is the case then you Don't row crop without livestock. You use the livestock pooh as fertilizer. Horses make WAY more fertilizer, and much better, than you or me. In fact early man was more of a carnivore than anything else. Fruits nuts, berries, fish (which dead fish is a good fertilizer) and barbeque. We were big time carnivores before organized farming. Inuits eat almost nothing but meat right now, and the get all the nutrition they need. Peta hates that fact, but oh well.

Forget about zombies that work, melee that works, loot spawns that make sense, a climate and survivability factor that isn't a joke. No, some people just can't go another day without using poop to torture bambis with, or to spread on their pizzas. IDK, I think Bohemia may have opened up an entirely new downloadable content market<flush>.

You need to read that which you quote as yo are the one who stands with poop on their face. Read down below sanitation. Communities which use untreated feces for fertilizer are subject to various parasitic outbreaks. It is right in your own reference, so don't kill the messenger: So, I realize that if you read this and are hell bent on winning an argument over putting pooping into a zombie game (because what zombie game wouldn't be *complete* without pooping in it?) you will probably go for the historical use practiced by third world man. But we have this thing called the first world which we evolved into, which consequently also saw our relative lifespans lengthen drastically thanks to such crazy magic as good sanitation practices, farming practices, modern medicine, etc. If you didn't notice the places that raw human feces are used for fertilizer are either in the third world (do I really need to explain the difference between long lifespan and dead by 40?) or after being treated at waste facility plants w/ chemicals and microbes a dayZ survivor would not have access to, let alone a $10 million dollar facility. And see that first bolded sentence? That's all you need to know about the wisdom of growing your food in your own dookie. Now if our DayZ community builds a waste processing plant from burlap sacks, hack saws, and can openers then by all means knock yourself out Chef. Just excuse me from any luncheons you throw in this life time. :)

Temperature effects are broken since hotfix
Zombie Milkman replied to ColonelBurton's topic in General Discussion
Fair enough on where they are from and I should have stayed away from assumptions. But since the geography, guns, etc., can be developed by literally anyone anywhere in the world the names and places are not an indicator of anything. As proof of that look no further than the game itself which insists on placing US arms and ammo all over the place. Look at the scarcity of Czech guns, or the way they down rate the in game version of the CZ 75 which is a pretty exceptional firearm. That does not scream Czech by any measure, quite the opposite. Where are the Glocks, the VZs, Scorpions, the CZ rifles in great quantity you would expect in a Czech game? -
I don't combat log and never will. But hey, if wearing ladies underwear works for you...

That tells me they know penetrating cold, exceptional Pilsner, and how to skate. The lack of understanding of how to stay warm in a survival setting though is still there, because if it wasn't, then you wouldn't see some of the issues you see in this game. BTW, who is managing the development of the game? Is Dean Hall from the CR? Maybe that's the issue. They may program, but if all they do is code, and he is the one telling them what to code... Do you know the answer to that? An entry level programmer is not going to be working on concept. He will be coding. Nice to know they have Czechs on the team though. My last hockey club had Urquell as a sponsor as I drank more of it than water at one time, though most of my crew drank the real Budweiser (Budvar). -
Non Firearms you would like to see in game
Zombie Milkman replied to Jex's topic in General Discussion
Chainsaws take some maintenance including oiling and link repair. It would be highly impractical in this game, provided the setting. They are also extremely loud which is a major negative. They also weigh too much. Very impractical for this game... -

Agree that this is stupid but for different reasons. How do you stay warm in the wilderness? Layers. It is patently idiotic that I can not wear a t shirt, a hoodie, and a jacket all at the same time. When I used to do a bunch of hiking in cold weather I wore all sorts of combinations. I hiked in "below freezing temps" too, skied in it plenty of times, and I easily defeated it which included strong cold winds by layering. The outer jacket was important almost more for the wind than anything else, but it was the layering underneath that kept me warm. The real problem at that point was sweating, so a good wicking layer is important. A bunch of programmers holed up in San Mateo or Mountain View would never have seen this except for a bad trip to Tahoe they *might* have taken, once. Average temps on the San Fran peninsula where most of the game programming community live are shorts and t shirt weather most of the year. So where's their practical experience? The game screams of a lack of respect of basic and fundamental understanding of the outdoors, and surviving in it even on a base level a kid gets exposed to in cub scouts. The first thing they need to fix is the lack of layering. I whole heartedly invite them to go spend a weekend in the Sierras once we are in December, I don't mean the luxury suites of the Embassy Suites in South Lake Tahoe. They have millions of bucks from this game alone. Dean Hall, get off your butt and put your people in the **** on the company dime so they "get it." Fly to Alaska and find some lodge where the weather dips below zero and has a stiff breeze. Who the hell wouldn't enjoy that? -
You Don't use human feces for growing food. Please never become a farmer. Ever. Or a cook, or a Dr. Or a nurse or a....
-
We do already and it is called "real life."Games are a form of escaping real life. I see no reason to enjoy my escape time pooping digitally but if you do, have fun I guess.
-
I also don't need a "fire kit" containing a burlap sack, a pristine log that requires cutting down a tree, etc., to make a fire. Will they perhaps introduce childbirth into the game as well? I can't think of anything much more real than that. I know, let's call this DaySIMS. And if you get too real, remember, zombies are not real. Oh dear. Live by realism, die by realism. Better not get TOO real. or the game stops becoming real. But realism is their only goal. Yeah.
-
No Girth, apparently they had to move resources from climate & zombie physics to work on the new "Poop on the hostage you took" mod. Hey man, priorities. Instead of DayZ, they may want to rename the game DayD, as in "the big D."
-
Realism. So when do they add the hot key for every breath your character takes? You know, because realism is so important. This isn't about realism. This is about sensationalizing a game at any cost to make money. GTA did it by making killing cops part of the game. Other forms of entertainment do this as well. Act like an idiot, watch most people complain about it. Look at all the free publicity. Some in here think this is like a street artist expressing themselves by defecating on a picture of a nun or whatever. This is quite the opposite and I guess introducing torture wasn't enough. This is covering yourself in poop to get on the front page of the news. This is a sell out for the oldest reason in business. I thought this was a zombie/survival game. I hope more mature heads prevail.
