What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?
Zombie Milkman replied to RadikulRAM's topic in General Discussion
Why do they play? They can just go to Burger King and get their crown for free... -
One followup question - I thought if I stashed stuff without logging out it will stay where I put unless someone grabs it. Is that wrong? I had thought server rests were the only issue. I also thought if you died and came back you could grab your stuff from the stash location. Yes/no?
-
I like it. Please tell me where your stash is, and yes I can smell your breakfast bacon cooking at 75 mph on the freeway as I go by so at walking speeds it should be a snap. I want to eat it after consuming nothing but beans and pond water all week in Novo.

To my friends overseas - what is the most common round sold on the market there? Prior to the gun law frenzy, here in the US I think the most common rounds were 9 and .22. I am just curious... My answer would be whatever our fellow overseas players respond with, assuming the game honors reality. A gun with easily found ammo in this kind of environment is the best one to have no matter what it is, in theory. Being the only guy with "The Judge" in Russia is about as unenvious as a screen door salesman on a submarine. My favorite handguns are all 9mm CZ, Sig, Walther, or HKs as far as semi autos go.

My bad - I didn't realize that is what it was trying to do. That is extremely handy and I will use it next time.

Which ones? I am not doubting, just honestly curious. -

Maybe you can't force spawn more loot, but what you can do is have a quick reset server that generates endless gobs of goodies at the high spawn points. For example, I was on a server yesterday that had 2 hour resets. I am new and hadn't really thought about the consequences of that as I was just looking for high pop, low ping, and Hardcore. Well, I am in a place with just gobs of crap I found by accident and after taking the best stuff... reset happens... and the whole place repopulates with high end goodies. It was in an area not highly frequented so in theory I could have stashed some backpacks nearby and loaded myself up like a doomsday hoarder in no time. I ran a cross some guys who I think were doing just that. Anyway, long story short I won't be going back to short reset time servers because I don't see the fun in that. The other downside to short reset servers is food is uber plentiful. No fun there either... -
They would do well to have about 20 or so spawn points in wooded areas that are safe spots, or a small amount of time you aren't able to be killed so you can at least run in some direction. Right now there are a number of people camping the new-toon spawn ares, IMO of course, because I have heard this complaint frequently enough to realize people are doing it. Having fixed spawn points in remote areas would also eliminate some of the server hopers, or at least add time to their cheating journey.

Just two comments - On the bolded, zombies are attracted to light. I found out because I was chased up a radio tower by a zed (this was a bad choice.) I couldn't shoot him, hit him, nothing except descend or die from lack of water or jump off and start over basically. Then I remembered I had my flashlight, turned it on and painted a spot out in the grass. Zed turned and walked towards the spot. However, Zed would not let me lead him with it far enough away for tme to escape, so my balloon of hope exploded like the Hindenberg. But it was kind of funny making this gurgling zombie chase the lighted spot. So yes, they are totally attracted to light. I posted an idea in the suggestions area to help encourage people to play with gamma settings at normal. I am curious as to what you might think about it. All I ask is if you immediately hate it, give it a second and chew on it for a minute. The gamma correction thing hurts the game, IMO. In PvE situations who cares, but in PvP it is a hand wrapped cheat for babies to kill good players at a distance and is 100% unfair. Playing at night in high PvP areas would be the way normal people whould behave, the same way all sorts of critters get active at night as an evolved defense mechanism.
-
I have been playing off and on for 8 days now. I do not play with gamma exploits, but I did at first just to learn the game. I had been on low or 0 population servers, again, simply to worry about the mechanics of the game itself. The fear involved in night time runs makes it better without punching up the gamma correction. If you don't like the difficulty of the night and the aholes that come with it who exploit and shoot you from their chicken holes then I would say use a 24/7 day server because gamma exploit makes what you watch visually unpleasant. It is like choosing to watch a black & white tv version of an HD movie. Why bother? I will say this though, wouldn't it be great if they made the gamma exploiters' toon GLOW brighter and brighter with the higher gamma correction they use? If you use an in game correction method this could be done, and it would make them stick out like a sore thumb from long distances. Hm, I am going to drop that under suggestions...

So far I have found sks's and ak's like they were candy. But then you need a mag and those are far harder to find. I've found one Mosin to date, and no shotguns or m5s.

Whats the craziest that that has happaned to you in DayZ that people don't belive when you tell them?
Zombie Milkman replied to trimpampano's topic in General Discussion
I just made my first day run through a Hardcore server, 40 strong most of the way but it reset every 2 hours which wasn't very interesting. What is so interesting is I escaped two traps, met a new spawn who I was going to help equip but he ran the other way, then got chased down the road by a zombie (too far away for me to help), then I have two nerve wracking encounters in a town way up north that no body goes to, ending with the third one where a two person team handcuffed me, and stuffed my backpack full of goodies I didn't need (food). One of them kept telling me I was lying about not having played long (they don't use the forums, I asked...) based on my gear - but that was dumb luck as I found a tower that was chock full O loot. But no backpack and a rain coat for an upper likely helped my story. Then they knocked me out so I wouldn't follow them back to their stash. It was a strange friendly encounter, but I felt like one wrong gesture and blam I am dead. So I wake up and head east, skimming the roads and settlements, to a shack in the middle of nowhere to drop off for the night and who should be in the shack? Yup, the two friendlies. But instead of saying high I just disappeared into the woods, probably saving my toon for another day. Not bad for starting from scratch though. 4 Hours of running and picked up a mosin, fireman's axe, 357, ammo for both, can opener, camos except the jacket and vest, and filled up on so much food and water I would have burst. I left behind a 357, longhorn, two over/under rifles, several axes. I never once set foot on a miltary base of any kind. -
Since I have spent this first week running around as a noob on servers with 10 or less players, and getting familiar with the controls, environment, the typical cities, etc., I want to make the leap to a Hardcore server for good with a high population and had some questions for that group of veterans on here. Any help would be appreciated, and all I ask is if you have nothing constructive to add, please keep it from this thread. Thanks in advance: - Right off the bat, should I go all in and do the experimental server option? - Are there any high pop Hardcore servers I should avoid? My preference is not to jump into one where it is me vs. the 39 player clan w/ every exploit and mini nukes in C++ add on. I had enough of that garbage on BF4 and orange box, usually with tag lines like "We love new players!" - With the ever present threat of server disconnects, are there any hardcore servers that are more stable than others? I discovered that server resets cause you to lose even items that you took out and put next to you which is annoying. - Since I have been on low pop servers where my only real concern was the marathon runner zed, how noticeable to other players are you when crouch-running? All help is appreciated, and please, no flames. Thanks!

I use my tablet off to the side because my oldest son took my second monitor. The good news is I have a 27" high def monitor to make me feel better.

It all depends on the zombie background cause. In Walking Dead everyone is already infected, and storylines can mutate just like real micro organisms do. What isn't infectious by air today might be by tomorrow. If the zombie thing is due to micro organism, and you have been in contact witgh any of these microbs but your healthy immune system is holding them back, but then you are killed... Oh, I am sensing possabilities here! And the motivation is superfluous. If you are a seasoned camper always heading for the hot spots your zombie probably would too regardless of why. It can also easily be prevented by your killer head shotting you after death, but that is a whole other topic as this game gives no weight to headshots even though that is the number one theme in the zombie genre.
-
I was wondering the same thing. I have a week under my belt but have been avoiding the high pop servers so I can focus more on getting my habits down for other stuff. But I am heading onto a high pop server for good today and am now wondering about my noise level vs. what I am doing.

Would you like a limo perhaps? Fully stocked with food, booze, ammo, and chikz? Think about this for a second. So in a world with no more industrial ambient sound, just the sound of the wind, the odd branch breaking, etc., where you can hear a pin drop from across a field, you want a giant generator on wheels, likely with a non functional muffler and the occasional backfire in a world populated by gangs of KOS bandits, and zombies that are attracted to noise? Oh, I really do hope the devs give you that car, and with an 8 track collection of college band music to go with it. Please devs, please make this happen!

This. I think this is the logical progression of the game, but a hell of a lot more zombies are also a logical progression we have not seen yet. Just thinking this out... 1) Group makes a safe defendable camp. That alone takes planning & resources. 2) Group stocks camp. 3) 24/7 servers... I hope you have enough people all around the world to make this work... 4) Big camp = big sound = zombie encounters = gunshots that ring through the valleys 5) Camp meets zombie hoard. You could even have a massive death hoard of zombies walking around in a clump like Walking Dead on the highway. 6) Hoard = many bullets depleted. 7) no more bullets and 3 to 1 zombie/human ratio = nom nom nom for many at the camp

Dev Position on firearm realism and Regular vs Hardcore.
Zombie Milkman replied to AP_Norris's topic in Suggestions
The best part about realism is the first thing people will do is hunt hoarders. If you can't find more than a can of beans a day, some guy with a shopping cart full of them in a small shed far away from any buildings becomes a really juicy target. -
I have never used 3rd person view. It eliminates tension in a game that is enjoyable.... because of the tension. That's like buying an F1 to drive and putting a governor on the engine. Why bother playing at that point?

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. Survival Guide [Complete] [Update on May 30th]
Zombie Milkman replied to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Dust's topic in New Player Discussion
Donald - Good to hear you retired in one piece, and thanks for this guide and your service. An old friend of mine was an MP over in Germany (Army). He is in his 50s now but he can still clean house. It is also great to run into someone who I am assuming liked the STALKER series? Call of Pripyat? Buggy as hell but fun once you made a zillion changes. I can't buy you beer, but I will drink one for you right now. Cheers! -
Anything that lets me put 200 steel ball bearings through every square foot of sniper's flesh man! My only regret is they don't make one that lays napalm on a sniper. I believe it would smell just like chicken, and I am always hungry for bbq. :D I built up a rather huge love of killing snipers in BF4, to the point that it became a sole obsession for a while. Cleaning small concerts of them from rooftops became so pleasurable, and mostly because they ignored their actual missions. So you have 20 guys with a fear of confrontation camping a remote perch and two guys carrying all their water... It is hard to respect that. Firing my anti personnel rounds into them like throwing dynamite into the open mouth of a paralyzed Jabba the Hut... Just priceless. But then I started wondering if I had become my worst loathed enemy, sniping snipers... Had the assassin condemned the assassins? I became conflicted, so I decided to one up all those chickens by taking the sniper, but using a carbine instead of a scoped rifle... just because I could.

all I know is, give me an airburst weapon and I make most of you give up sniping for Lent. Kidding aside, this is one of the few games where sniping makes logical and moral sense, provided the survivalist setting.
