    And so it begins...

Been there, done that lol. Maybe i just had tough luck. My last DayZ session was on Tuesday ( since its my day off ). All spawns have been near Olsha. First one went to Svetlo. The city was cleared. Tried to make it to Novo, i starved. Okay, new spawn. Now i ran to Krasnostav. City was cleared, eventually got killed by a maniac newspawn with a farming hoe who chased me several laps through half of the city. Allright, new try. Now i decided i should try out Cernaya Polana. City was cleared. Got chased by four Zombies. Outrunning them prevented me from checking out locations at the western edge of the city. I got annoyed and was killed by them. As i said, it seemed that there is a certain radius around the spawnpoints that has been completely looted to the void with nothing respawning but zombies. And with every lucky player that makes it into lootable areas, this radius expands. My point gets supported not just by the absence of loot at all, but by the high ammount of typical newspawn drops like flashlights, batteries and jeans. EDIT: Also, Are you aware that i was talking about the situation for newspawns, that have no choice wether or not they should circle the same lil area called spawnpoints at all ?
  2. The central question has to be if you abide by your own rule and always have your weapon holstered unless you are actively threatened by another player or not. If yes ... k, cool. If no ... well you get my point i think.

    And so it begins...

The problem with the current loot respawn on exp is that it is the same all over the map. That probably would work if the spawns would be spread about the entire map, but at the moment, we have a rather small spawning area in the northeast. I can imagine the current loot situation is awesome if you have a character that has been alive for some time, since it adds a challenge to a game where you struggle to find other challenges apart from PVP right now. However, i found it very hard to get a new character going, That is because the current loot respawn system and the tight spawn area don't really like each others. The spawn area is a highly frequented one with a major chance that there will be literally always a player within the respawn radius. I tried five times, everytime without success. There hasn't been any loot apart from dropped, ruined stuff, flashlights and jeans. Oh i found plenty of shoes too. Then i starved. Maybe i simply have to get used to the new mechanics, and i will definitely give it a shot. But having to spam apple trees for 15 minutes might add to the realism, it doesnt add to the entertainment for me. It just seems to me that the current situation affects fresh spawns much much more than it affects players who at least have a basic melee weapon and got rid of the hunger and thirst statuses ( i'm not even saying "being energized and hydrated" ). As always, just imo.

    Reporting Bugs

Yeah thats a known issue they are working on. I think logging out and back in is the only available workaround at the moment. And yes, it's an annoying bug, so i hope they get it done soon.

    Jesus, what is this?

You could at least have taken the effort to translate it to "downhill force" :)
  6. is that finnish you're speaking? Or estonian?
  7. You don't intend to, but you do sound like an elitist by trying to define what "real players" are in a sandbox game. I mean, seriously, it's totally up to you how you wanna have this game to be played. Just stick on HC servers. But telling other people that they are doing it "wrong" because they do it in a way you don't prefer is rather dumb. Also, the 3rd person camera is a simple game mechanic. It's open to everyone. I can look around the corner while being covered, and so can you. If you don't like it -> HC, but i guess you figured this out by youself. But seriously, cheat vision? You use the term cheating in kind of a wasteful manner here on the forums. Its like you define everything not to your liking as cheating ( TS, 3PP, Online Map etc ) wether or not its open to anyone and doesnt alter the games mechanics. My 0.02$

How should anyone here fix the steam forums ?

So, I'm new to DAYZ, and I can't play yet.

Yeah, think twice before you start. This isn't a finished game, it's a software in development. You will get frustrated, stuff wont work often and you should be aware that you often have to start from scratch without you being the one to blame for that. If you stay aware of this, you can have plenty of hours of enjoyment. Hardware-wise there aren't any tips really, at least from my point of view. I run a rather mediocre, while still up-to-date rig ( i5-4440, GTX750Ti, 6GB RAM on Win 8.1 ) and my game runs just fine on high graphic settings. Other users have kickass rigs and experience fps drops on medium settings. There really doesnt seem to be a coherence.

    You are welcome here...

Think i will play a bit tonight again, will head for the campsite. But i have yet to determine where i spawned since i quit right after respawn, so i dont know if i can make it today. And we should make some screenshots, since we're posting in the gallery. So, mission for tonight: Go back to the camp, rebuild camp, go fishing.

Teamed up with the OP at the campsite. Geared myself up as medic just like he did, we have been a nice paramedic team. Player at the airfield wasn't impressed at all, we both died. Gerne wieder, cap :) EDIT: And to bad my monstrous collection of assorted chemlights never made it to nighttime :(

    You are welcome here...

Sadly, I'm alone here now, and the camp got wiped by server restart. And it's raining. Aw. :(

    You are welcome here...

Left you a note. Will check back tomorrow afternoon to see if there's anyone around.
  15. This. The main problem about the nagging is simply this. Wrong expectations. You can expect something from the final product ( which you actually payed for, the participation in Alpha was your descision! ) But the ammount of people who seem to know best how and where the development has to go is simply tyring. Neither do they get what an alpha stage is ( content adding, not bug fixing, because new content WILL bring new bugs AND will break earlier bugfixes, making the whole process a waste of time. ), nor do they know what the devs are working on to what extend and how much work for feature X is required. Imagine what would happen if Apple would start an Early Access Alpha sale of their ofc brand new iPhone24.9S. 17 Million people would buy it, 10 Million are going to complain that the camera doesnt work properly, and the remaining 7 Million will start "Never Apple again!!!! zomfg" shitstorms on the web. It's all about expectations, really.

    Char' restart & campers....

That doesn't apply to military buildings only. Its just a general rule. Always be aware of your surroundings. Do nothing blindly, always have a plan. And at best a plan B too. As the others have said, you can't simply log out from the action. The game prevents it for a reason ( search for combat logging and you'll find the reason why ) If you get into a firefight, end it. Either by dying, winning, or sucessfully running away. Logging out is no option, as your opponents will find your quietly sitting character and simply give him a shot to the head before he dissapears.

    Helping people can be fun!

Hey there, for you this might be an unexciting, random happening, but for me it's worth sharing since this was my first encounter of this kind. So i was strafing through the woods above Nizhnoye just to check out whats going on on the coast. Had my scoped Mosing with me to check out the village. Just after a few minutes, the action started. I've seen a fresh spawn being chased by a zombie. The fellow survivor had no weapon with him at all. He tried to fight the Zed with his bare fists, but was rather unsucessful, so he decided to hide in a house. Unfortunately, the Zombie glitched through the wall and kept on attacking the freshie. That's when i decided i should help out, since i had a good sight on the fight. I aimed for the Z, and took him down with the first shot. The player obviously didn't expect that and stood still for some seconds. Then he came out of the house and spottet the hills for me, but he couldnt find me. I kept him in my scope to see what he's being doing, but had no intentions to kill him. I think he realised that and made the "thumbs up" animation while spinning 360 to make sure i could see him. Then he dropped his pants ( lol ! ) and ran away heading south. After some minutes of waiting, i decided to check out what just happened and left my position. I found his pants. There was a can of beans in the one and a note in the other pocket. The note said: "Dear friend, thanks for your help. You have my beans sir ! ( literally, lol )" I know this is a rather random story, but i figured it was worth sharing with you, since it was a really statisfying experience to me. Have you ever had something similar happening to you ?

    I need your guys opinion

Nice idea. Might turn on some smooth Jazz while playing and when I encounter another player, i open up voice chat and sing my status messages with a really low voice like Barry White. "Mmmmmh my body feels wet. Yeah. I am soaked through, yes. I feel like having a drink, uh. Uuuuh my body feels wet....." 100$ i get shot for it. :) Might be worth it, tho. :)

Luckily you are. I'm not a kid, I dont wank over virtual beans on an internet forum by making up stories about a video game. Also I didn't say that stuff was all he had. I should have called him "undergeared" then maybe. He had cargo pants, a wool coat and a child's briefcase with him. I called him freshie because he hasn't had any basic melee weapon at all, so he can't be playing long with this character. He certainly wasn't new to this game because bambis usually don't do stuff like that. Also, I carry a pen and a paper with me whenever i can too. Notes are fun. Here's one from my personal messing around tours through Chernaurus: One day i respawned and immediately found a badly damaged taloon backpack, but I actually had no interest in serious gaming. I lost my last character to random KOS and i was kinda dissapointed about that. So i collected every single piece of rotten fruit that i could find and put it in that backpack. When I only had one slot left, i wrote a note and dragged it into this one remaining slot. Next i went to Balota Airfield, dropped all other items apart from the rotten stuff and that note. Sprinted right along the runway. You can guess what happened. I got shot at the ATC Tower, because i asked, no, i begged for it. My killer came to loot my body. The note said "Chain's Super-Bandit-Nutrition Pack 3000. Enjoy your meal!" I know this is exactly how NOT to play a survival game. But the imagination of my killers face left me smiling for quite some time, as the fellow marksman who shot me just got rewarded by a backpack full of rotten fruits. And in case this was a complete success, he would have had a good laugh too. I enjoy fooling people and mess around. They should implement a harlekin's hat for me. I love Dayz :)

    HELP! Anyone....

Check your Event Viewer. There should at least be a hint why a certain application crashed. ( In case you dont know: You'll find the event viewer within the administrative tools in your control panel )
  23. May i be the boring alpha-carebear? You paid for the finished game, and you agreed to participate in its alpha test long before its finished. So no, you're not commenting on what you've paid for. Alpha means feature adding. They just CREATE the bugs to be fixed later right at this time in development. Since many things are connected to each other, you cant simply change X without affecting Y and Z. Lately, the "Ladders got some love", according to twitter, so we might see a solution to the ladder bug in the next patch. Until then, yes, Alpha is feature-adding, not bug-fixing. That will be Beta. Come back anytime you like.

  25. Last time i spawned naked, i couldnt find any pants. Backpack, can opener, machete, plenty of food. All within 20 minutes gaming. Still no pants.
