    Another game copy

Easy stuff imo and no need to make a thread about it here. "Someone" got banned. So it's either a BE or Steam issue. Noone here can solve BE or Steam issues. "Someone" needs to contact the company who filed the ban. "Someone" needs to be patient about that and deliver proof that it was a false positive to the respective company. "Someone" also should not ask for ways to circumvent said ban, since circumventing bans is shit. If you have a problem, solve it rather than simply leave it behind. And if "someone" decides to do so anyway, have the guts to re-buy "someones" 80+ steam games or just move on and leave DayZ behind. Sorry, I didn't intend to sound rude, but cheating and hacking are the worst you could possibly do to online gaming, since it questions the entire online gaming idea. If you made a mistake, stand for it. If not, go ahead and work it out. But still, noone on the forums can help you with that, since the official forums dont ban players from the game.

    One night i imagine this

Inb4 random, server wide wolves howl driving everyone crazy... ;)

    Not really a survival game

No, i think slowing it down means much more that it will take Mr.X 15 minutes to run to Berezino, while he would starve after 10 minutes and if he finds food, he will arrive sick and low on health when he doesn't care about himself, like looking for shelter in a storm, making arriving at the intendet location a real achievement, and meeting other players along the way really has an impact on either if you succeed or not, in both good and bad ways.

    New Dev Blog Status Update

Its already linked in the respective subforum here.

I've been a big jerk. My chance to change.

Beans, hoth. There have been some discussions going on over the last couple of days. Your thread made me think of that both supporters and critics might take a breath or two and accept another ones opinion at one point rather than calling the other one a fanboy / sheep / idiot / faggot /troll. Your biggest concern have been hackers at least, which are really a major pain in the ass. You're not one of those ranting unaimed at everything the devs do. You just did it a bit to repeatative even when it wasnt the topic. I have np with that. You have been annoying lately, but not wrong.
  6. You're dumbing it down to the things you actually see in the game, which does not work. From a development point of view, there is no Zombies. You have to look at the underlying mechanics. Navigation, collision, animations, sensors, combat mechanics, eventually models and textures. Then you have a finished Zombie. Needless to say that all of this pieces aren't relevant to zombies only, they affect many other things as well. So no, they can't simply finish "The Zombies 100%" and then move on to something else.

An Easy Way to Explain Alpha - my favorite topic

    Where're them doggone hacksaws?

Can confirm the same for experimental. Stumbled upon one in a garage in Svetlo. Didn't pick it up though since i had no use for it at that time. But yeah, they seem to be more rare now.
  9. ChainReactor

    Charwipe?

If there's already a BE message confirming the date then i'm sorry, I am currently playing experimental and have only the forum for the latest news.

    Charwipe?

That's why its always good to rely on the official sources. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/208483-status-report-week-of-18-august-14/ So, no ETA given, also no version-number. Might come with 0.49, might not.
  11. ChainReactor

    Charwipe?

Mods, can we have a pinned topic where you can throw all the questions about the charwipe in? Its like 4 new threads about it every day. OP: The wipe will come when the devs fixed the duping issues. Noone clearly knows when this will be, but it wont happen unnancounced. ( iirc BE will show warning messages once there is a scheduled time for the wipe )
  12. No need to become uber sarcastic now. It's okay, not everyone is excited about devblogs and weekly status reports. But you could have asked what has changed before you start a rant after a relatively long break and only very few ingame time after this. 1 - Zombies. Zombie pathfinding got the big update from the scripted solution the old ArmA2 engine brought to the new, hard-coded navmesh system in patch 0.47, which was the second-last stable patch. And this was only the initial implementation with lots of work still to be done. Thats also the reason they can't simply revert back to an old version, it was intended to get rid of the old system because it was limiting the devs in terms of zombie movement. Again, this new system just got implemented, it isn't entitled to work perfect now. But its a progress, and yes, you don't see much of it ingame yet. It's the foundation needed for further improvements. 2 - Melee system. Same story, new system got implemented to remove the scripted stuff from the old engine. Of course also a WIP, which ofc required working on the code base. Hit detection is quite better in the current stable build, so yeah, i do see progress.

    Considering playing on 'merican servers

Yeah me too, I even speak english to people when i play on a german server. We are an international community, aren't we? ( Though i ask quite quickly where they come from, especially when i hear them speaking in german accent )
  14. This single sentence yells out that you did not follow the development at all, so you don't really know about what they actually did over the last couple of patches. Also you still complain about the lack of bugfixing in a development state where bugfixing would be pointless.
  15. ChainReactor

Starting to think I'm too nice of a player.

No special criterias. Check the experimental branch subforum to check out how to play experimental. It's actually the same game, only that Exp gets the updates first and they are more buggy than the stable branch. Sometimes, those contain gamebreakers, sometimes not. You can always switch between both branches and keep your specific character. ( exp and stable have different character slots, just like 1pp and 3pp ). And yes, more friendlies on Exp. Might be because most play Exp to check out the new stuff rather than killing other players. About the bugfishing, it should be a part of experimental, though noone is forced to do so. I for myself registered a bugtracker account the moment i switched to Experimental for the first time. I just felt that it has to be this way.

    I want some combat.

    Considering playing on 'merican servers

Hm, i don't know. Over the last two patches, i felt like a ping below 50 makes a huge difference compared to 70 or 80, though i can't really tell you how the difference feels from 80 to 150, since I mostly avoid servers with such pings. My observation was that a low ping not only affects lag and desync, but also stuff like AI-collision ( zombies clipping through objects ) and key responsiveness, which you wouldnt connect to ping in first place. But as always, I also could be totally wrong.

    September Rant Topic.

The underlined things you've mentioned are anything but no core basics but rather subject to final optimization, which is clearly not a hot topic during alpha, at least not in this still early stage. We did however already have patches that gave noticable performance improvements, which imo was due to the implementation of the newly hard-coded features of the engine. That being said, Zombies are one of the biggest project within the development of this game, and they are heavily working on it. Read around a bit on reddit and the forums and you will see how many things belong to "the zombies" ( navmesh, collision, sensors, animations, melee.... ) and that most of the work takes place "under the hood" by now. It shouldn't be hard to imagine that it takes quite a while to create a working AI system from scratch.
  19. ChainReactor

    September Rant Topic.

I bet my grandma on this, it is zero. Forum moderators are always volunteers. Believe me, i know what I'am talking about. I am moderator on a way bigger forum, with a way bigger company behind it ( motorsport broadcaster that can even afford tv-spots for that particular website ) and i am happy if i get a 20 Bucks amazon coupon and a hand-written card for christmas in return for my work. And no, you are no "customer" of this forum because you didnt pay for anything concerning the forum, and also the mods don't stop to be users of this forum and human beings that - this might shock you - have an opinion. Whats next? Will you refer to your "freedom of speech?"

Rain will be the new night?

Please keep in mind that almost all survival mechanics are exaggerated due to gameplay reasons. Irl, you dont starve within 30 minutes and you dont restore almost all your blood in like another 30 minutes just because you ate enough. While I agree that the weather impact system needs tweaking, i am aware that we just had the initial implementation and it might or not might be overexaggerated intentionally to test the effects of different clothing and weather on your character. You dont need to ask for proof that the current implementation of weather impact effects is realistic, because it strictly isn't.

Rain will be the new night?

hyper / hypothermia is a new feature added in 0.49 currently on experimental.
  22. ChainReactor

Why do people use chemlights on day-only servers?

Currently on Experimental i break up all of them and throw them away immediately because they dissapear when they go out, allowing another item to spawn once the chemlight is gone. I can't confirm that this actually works, but heck, its also for the lols. It also shows me houses where i have been in already, because i really, really suck at navigating through any bigger town.
  23. I can't tell you something about the different location, but about the loot. Server admins have no control about it except they can restart the server. That being said, yes, the servers having HIGH LOOT or something similar in their names actually only wanna get players. Have you been playing stable or experimental? I starved multiple times on stable 0.48 and now 0.49 doe to inbalanced loot respawn ( no food, but tons of shoes, gas stoves and chemlights ), but that also has nothing to do with public / private.
  24. Second column in the server browser. And as you can see, there is only the public hive right now. The servers not accepting players are stuck on restart, that has nothing to do with private or public hive, as private hives do not exist yet.
