Sounds like your game has troubles with its graphic settings ( as you can hear the game running ). Locate your config file and follow the guidelines posted here
-
The minimum requirements always stated Vista as minimum OS, so yes, it was to be expected that the game won't run on XP forever as development goes on.

( Believable ) Loot tables are not open to us anymore. You used to be able to datamine the gamefiles to see spawnrates and locations (the map providers used that data for their maps), but as 0.52 introduced loot control by the central hive, no file on your computer will tell the truth to you.

He still has a point. Software, or even general PC development would be significantly faster when developers of all kinds would not need to spend resources thinking about compatibility for a - lets say it this clear - outdated technology. As kilchi pointed out correctly, there are no upsides 32 bit brings.

3 out of 4 issues are related to server side performance, and I'm afraid this will be an ongoing thing as long as we are in alpha. The addition of features need additional performance too, optimizing it for us players right now would be pointless.

ChainReactor replied to Tigermonk's topic in Troubleshooting
Regarding the "no servers" issue, try resetting your winsock. -

Fix these two easy/small things and the game will be amazing
ChainReactor replied to cheranuscrusiser's topic in General Discussion
Due to the old ArmA2 animation system that only allows full body animations. The new animation system slowly gets into public testing right now ( first appearance in 0.53 Exp on the animals, along with the new AI ). Whats happening with the old system is this: You press a button to pull out an axe. This will play the animation "pull out melee weapon". While doing this, you're not able to start another animation ( like "run" or "walk" ), you have to wait until the animation has been finished, unless there is another animation like "pull out axe while running". That is also why we can't eat while moving, there simply is no animation implemented to do this. The new animation system will get rid of this. Give it some time, it's a big system that is just about to get implemented. -
Thanks for the info. Seems Brian lost some stuff himself in the past...

With all this talk about other islands, i hope people remember not to go for a swim with a backpack and a gun on their back :)
-
They put a statue of yourself on top of the hill and renamed it "Tatanko Island" :D

Persistance reset is not done on every maintenance, only when the devs deem it necessary according to server data.

Might be a thing :)

After i tried to verify your results by datamining the gamefiles, I realised you messed up your own experiment. :) I found that antibiotics indeed cure salmonelosis, however, i can neither confirm nor deny that the actual disease is in the game yet. You screwed it up by eating charcoal tabs, because those cure medium food poisoning. Eating raw fish can cause both. So, by eating raw fish, you either got salmonellosis or medium food poisoning, and you took measures shortly after each other to treat both of them. Conclusion: Eating raw fish made you sick, but we don't know what exactly was wrong, and that either antibiotics or charcoal tabs saved your ass. :)

Mind to explain it a bit more so users that run into a similar issue can see if it is the same ?

How is the outsourced zombie work coming along?
ChainReactor replied to cheranuscrusiser's topic in General Discussion
New Zombie AI will come with one of the next patches. The first Iteration of the new AI will come with 0.53Exp for the animals. You have to understand that this is a pretty big thing to do ( hence it took months ) and that they can't put it in the game bit by bit. They need to finish the actual system first before they can implement it to the game and start expanding upon it. -
Definitive launch parameters, devs please confirm
ChainReactor replied to deebz1234's topic in Troubleshooting
Maybe because they don't want the players trying to optimize a game that is not optimized yet and changes with every update. Launch parameters have caused quite some trouble for many players, may it be client crashes, game freezes or the game not launching at all. -
V3S Submarines + badly timed server restarts :)
-
It is 5 vehicles across 70 possible spawnpoints.

^ this should be adressed before you delete blindly. As you said you deleted stuff from the steam folder, you should reinstall it so everything is back where it belongs. Also reinstall DayZ if you deleted stuff there. Then you go to C:\Users\YOU\Documents\DayZ Please report back and tell us what files are in there.

Please don't duck with the current 'Hardcore' mode.
ChainReactor replied to stilton's topic in General Discussion
The Hardcore mode mentioned in the status report has nothing to do with the camera perspective.
