Confused about how new features are pushed to stable for testing.

Large scale testing happens on the experimental branch, and spawn rates of new stuff are usually higher there, at least that is my impression after i've spent the last 4 patches almost exclusively on experimental. Most of the time however, we test new implementations best by simply playing the game. -
Was wondering too, but it was quite short and had no standup notes at the end, so it might just been released by mistake, probably wasn't finished yet. Just be patient, tuesday would be a bit early anyway, I expect it to be released either today or tomorrow.

Since you took a break i don't think you followed the development lately, so this info could be new to you. The devs are implementing seasons, not visually yet but it's effects. Currently ( on stable ) the month is set to december, so it can't possibly get much colder. In the current experimental patch, the month is set to september, and temperature is much easier to handle.

Question 1a): What button is set to be your push to talk button in DayZ? Question 1b): Is that key bound to anything else ( check twice! ) Question 2: Is everything working as intended in software like skype / teamspeak / windows audiorecorder ?

And didn't that feel really good? The feeling you really got a character going now to face the adventures of Chernarus? Your suggestion actually makes this normal and nothing exciting. Learning stuff the hard way is - at least in my opinion - one factor that provides the thrill of DayZ. I pulled some characters off the edge of starvation and those were actually pretty statisfying to me, even if they did not make it that far in the end.

Energized, hydrated, healthy, axe. Geared enough for hours of fun. Everything else is optional.

Just some minor criticism, I know it's some kind of a fancy word nowadays, but the models are not "leaked" in any way. They are there, accessible for everyone. Just open the dayz folder, download a PBO Editor and have a look into it. Thats a routine some people do whenever a new patch goes live.

Yeah as stated before, its from the first 0.50 Exp build where hunger and temperature were extremely hard to come by. There are so few deaths at NWAF because barely anyone made it there before starving or freezing to death. It is fixed in the current 0.50 though, so the heatmap would look different now. EDIT: BadAsh got me ninja'd

Nice heatmap, but since 0.50/2 is online for less than a day now, i guess that the heatmap shows the player deaths in 0.50/1, where many players just starved shortly after they spawned in, so it doesn't really suprise me most ppl died before they managed to leave the coast.

Zombies are not a game mechanic, they are content. The game mechanics for Zombies have improved a lot over the last few patches.
