    Get it off your chest!

That's actually a habit i have since loot persistance is in ( the builds where especially exp servers looked void of useful items after a short ammount of time ) because that will flag the item as manipulated and made it despawn in favour for another item once the degradation timer runs out.

    Shoes in experimental

The thing is, these initial implementations don't need fixing, they need development and tests ( by the devs ). The initial implementation of weather effects was exaggerated too, to check if the effects are all working as they are supposed to do. ( Which is something you don't wanna wait 200 ingame hours for. ) Growing and harvesting tomatoes doesn't only take 10 minutes either, yet noone complained about this one. It's not broken, its in development. ( could be a nice DayZ sticker ).

    Shoes in experimental

It's not useful to compare this first implementation of shoe degradation to any real life situation. The Devs want to test the system and gather data, and it would be a painfully slow data gathering when your ingame shoes last 200 hrs. Remember they aim to push a new experimental update every week and a stable branch update at the end of the month, so the faster they get their data and start working on improvements, the better for the upcoming stable update. That being said, run, survivors.

Still no private shards available! Why?

Centralized loot economy is in since 0.48 or 0.49 on persistance enabled servers.
  5. ChainReactor

Still no private shards available! Why?

Shards, not hives. Private shard servers will still be connected to the public hive. This i.e. means that still the same rules for central loot economiy apply. There once was a good explanation of private shards, currently trying to find it. EDIT:

vehicles in for christmas ? beta?

They are not "in the code". They were scripted models. They dont work while the dev's re-write engine code unless they re-write the configs with every engine update they release. This would be useless effort.

Biran has spoken. Can we please make this the subtitle of the forum? Thanks. Beans, Hicks.

vehicles in for christmas ? beta?

Arma2 Vehicles were scripts. One of the most important steps in DayZ SA engine development was to actually get rid of scripts ( not just talking about vehicles ) since they are perfomance hungry, a security issue and simply not suitable for an MMO game. So as they are re-writing major parts of the engine, it would have been completely pointless for them to throw in Arma2 vehicles. Scripts use engine functions, so with every engine update, the vehicle scripts would have been needed to be rewritten. Pretty much and useless effort just to keep the Agent happy.

    Where is everyone?

You should add that the heatmap from the status report shows data from the first 0.50 Exp build where almost everyone staved 2 or 3 times before they got a character going. So the map does not really show where the pvp is at, since many deaths happened shortly after respawn due to hunger, thirst and cold, not to mention suicides to get a better spawn.

    Changing between stable and experimental?

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/177199-experimental-branch-testing-how-to/ And no, you can't carry over any items between the branches due to different character slots.

    Dayz not working

lol ! Yeah the other guys are right. We sure would like to help you, but "DayZ not working" and "I tried everything" is nothing we can work with. In addition to the info Tegla asked for, tell us about recent changes on your system ( also check automatic updates! ). When the game works but one day later suddendly crashes there has to be a reason. Also, stable or experimental? ( people tend to forget about that info, eventhough thats an important one.)
  15. Dear forum, every week, there are numerous threads about hackers, hacking in general, and players being killed by a hacker that the forum staff has to deal with. Along with that come threads and posts of users who are angry that their post / thread got hidden or moved to the graveyard. Please guys, try to understand that this is pointless! Let me tell you why. Why was my thread moved to the graveyard? The purpose of a forum is to discuss things. There is no need to discuss hackers. They are there, but the problem will not be solved because the community talks about it over houndreds of pages. This actually gives hackers the attention they are looking for. You don't solve the problem by complaining here, no, you give them justification and motivation to go on. But what if i think i've whitnessed a hack? Report it to the staff. PM Boneboys or the Moderators. They are in contact with the ones in charge and can submit evidence to people who actually can take care of hacks. Yeah but maybe i found a new exploit ? Valid point. You should totally discuss it here publicly, where everyone can read it, everyone but the one's that abuse the exploits, right ? Again, contact the forum's staff. Making a new exploit public here will make people use it ! Do it sneaky, report it. I just want to blow off, cheaters have been there since the mod and nothing has changed! Fighting cheaters in an online game is an arms race. They always try to stay one step ahead of the devs. BI does what they can in patching loopholes and work together with BattlEye and VAC. There are just no details because that would give hackers an advantage. The devs have a team hired soley for the purpose to find, reverse-engineer and fight hacks. However, this game is under active development and loopholes will come with every new thing the dev's will add. And even if you try to be the withe knight that rushes here to report a new loophole, always keep in mind you publish it to both the devs AND the hackers by doing so. So how can i help? Get irrefutable proof of hacks. Screenshots or videos. Then send it to the forums staff. File a feedbacktracker ticket and describe the situation as precise as you can do. Give the devs input they can work with. Hint: OMG got killed again insta death omg fu hax0rs isn't helpful. Reminder: The devs need to know what happened under what circumstances. They need to reproduce the situation so they can try to reproduce the problem in order to find the loophole from where the hack comes into the game. But I see hackers everywhere! Calm down in first place. Players tend to yell "HACKS!" for many inexplicable deaths. Remember, this game in its current state has also problems with desync, server performance, gunshots that noone can hear and so on. Not every death you can't explain is hacking. What sometimes appears to be speedhacking / teleporting is often the server struggeling to update the position of the players in your vincinity. Hacking ain't hacking unless you have a solid proof for it. Bugs however, even fatal one's, are part of an early access game. If you suddendly get naked or a player is levitating 10 feet above you, axing you to death, you might have a reason to come here though. Conclusion, smartass? Yeah. Dont come to the public forum and make hacks a topic. It's not helpful ( since the community can't do anything about it and the dev's are aware of it ), it's much rather counterproductive. Don't give hackers a stage where they can celebrate their win and let the developers do their security business alone where noone watches them just to undermine their efforts. Finally, let me quote rocket about this topic: There is no point in discussing hacks in public other than giving hackers what they want. Fighting hackers did cost us already over a month development time. So help the game and do it right! be nice to me, Mods. Chain

Rocket will be launched by the end of the year.

any updates for ETA of release?

Caboose, "Not before the end of 2014" means december, didnt you know that ? Its a timestamp written in stone :P EDIT: and "expect" means "promise" sry, forgot to add.

    Forrest-gumpZ

That's most likely the case. The impact of every players personal connection to the server is one of the most important things to decide how melee feels. That's also the reason why the feedback on the different iterations and tweaks of the melee system range from "omg unplayable gtfo devs" to "ahaha killed 12 Z's at one fu zombeeerrrs"
  19. ChainReactor

    Which are official servers?

That's a lie, and the rest is advertising. orlok, dinner time?
  20. ChainReactor

any updates for ETA of release?

In addition to what orlok said, Early Access games have another problem, especially such a big early access title as DayZ. The dev's need to keep playability and gaming experience in their focus and keep on fixing bugs on the fly to keep the playerbase somewhat happy, instead of throwing the game together and sort out the mess once they're done with this ( apart from game breaking bugs ofc ). This constant bugfixing consumes a lot of time and manpower which is distracting the team from actually creating the game. And since bugs can't be foreseen ( as noone implements them intentionally ) they all have an impact on the timeline of the development process.

any updates for ETA of release?

The more important question that comes to my mind is why it is important at all when we will be in beta? ( No offense, OP ). Reading the status reports i think vehicles are the last big feature to be added, eventhough i think the devs will expand horticulture and barricading since the iterations in the current build are only very basic mechanics. So yeah, it will take some few more months until the Game is feature complete.

    Lock Picks and Garden Lime

Little tip, if you decide to try out experimental and you never actually did it before, take some time and read in the experimental subforum here. There are tons of Info, especially on update days. The initial implementation of barricading and horticulture was confirmed with the announcement that exp is down for update way earlier today.
