    bad version, server rejected connection

Now we have a notification banner on top of EVERY forum and still noone reads it. #Sisyphos

    Hopes for 0.50 stable

It wont be the exact same build. But noone can tell what will be different. What has been said by the devs today was that 7 out of 8 known causes for server-side crashes got fixed, and it's likely that the shoe degradation will be nerfed.

No Servers / Maintenance / Patch Day

Eugen said the servers will be off "most of the workday", which should be another 2 - 3 hours if everything goes well. No promise on this one though. Can be less, can be more.

No Servers / Maintenance / Patch Day

As kilchiron pointed out, wednesday is the server maintenance day. This maintanence usually lasts 3 or 4 hours, but today is update day, so the servers won't be back up until it's evening in Europe. The symbol you have seen is the loot symbol. When you see it, press F by default and it will open your inventory and show the items of the player you are looting so you can take the items. Looting zombies is possible ( as you found out by yourself ) but they never carry any items.

Anyone up for some hunger games?

So, Battle Royale with a price for the winner?

    Head/Neck/Torsoshot breaks my legs?

Nothing against your informative post, but from what he told he simply bugged through the floor as we all like to do occasionally. Nothing new actually.
  7. To be fair, he also mentioned hypothermia, health system and item degradation, which are mechanics. Though i agree with you on the rest of your post, but that shouldn't suprise you.
  8. Difficult question. If we pretend the SA gets released just today in it's current state as of today, despite the fact that many changes only were possible due to the huge success of the early-early access, i would say the community would be a lot more relaxed. Just because much work has been done on stuff that's not visible for the players. Engine rework, foundation building, acutally preperation work for the development of the experience for the players. Let's be honest, the SA attracted tons of players that are actually not fit for an early access title. Players that aren't even interested in keeping up with the development, that are not willing to waste their time with writing bug reports and gathering information about the progress of the development and that "simply" want to play the game. Now the development pace has picked up and i see people get more excited about new additions because they are actually visible. The generic pc gamer isn't excited about navmeshes or loot tables. He wants guns and vehicles. I think i'd be happy with the progress, just like i am right now. But I'am one of those that swallow every bit of dev info from all the cannels like the forum, reddit or twitter the second they were posted.

    Hopes for 0.50 stable

Reddit is the place to go for the unofficlal changelogs ( as there are no official ones ) Exp 0.50/1 http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2i0txm/unofficial_050_110_changelog/ Exp 0.50/2 http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2iom32/unofficial_changelog_050_0810/ Exp 0.50/3 http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2jbr9b/unofficialexperimental_changelog_050_1510/ Exp 0.50/4 http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2k06xw/unofficialexperimental_changelog_050125257/

Do we have to start again?

Bohemia sits in Prague, Czech Republic. It's 12:10 there right now.

Do we have to start again?

There will be no character wipe like we had with the introducion of 0.49. However, it can always happen that a character gets reset by accident or a bug, you should be aware of that. But no, no official wipe, the dev's would've said that inbefore, just like they did with the last wipe.

You have stood on dog poop?

Thats a server message every admin can define for their servers. Some are kinda creative. One time, i looked to the lower left corner of my screen to check my statuses and got this: "I really need to drink something" "I am shaking" "I feel attracted to men" lol. Most of the time though, the server messages only give server or TS info. Boring.

    Improve FPS

In DayZ, much stuff happens server side, so your internet / network connection can be a bottleneck, too. But in the end the game is far away from being optimized, and it runs on a derivate of the Arma2 engine, which isn't that fps-performant at all.

Does anyone dislike the "no military stuff" agrument?

I'm fine with the focus being on civilian stuff. Sometimes i think some people wanna play this standalone of an ArmA mod to play ... well, ArmA.

    Lmfao DayZ

By the way, i think that zombies-glitch-through walls thingy is not neccesarily related to the progress on the zombies itself ( which has been huge over the last patches ) but more with incomplete / buggy collision models of certain buildings. I don't know it of course, but it would make sense, since you can lock zombies perfectly in some buildings, while they happily warp through others like the police station. With that in mind, its not "Fix the zombies" but "Fix the buildings".

    1366x768 Resolution

Did you try the solution in the last post before yours or did you just dig out a 10 months old thread for fun ? Troubleshooting ain't easy when you get no infos, you know?

    Lmfao DayZ

I once looted Elektro and there have been 2 or 3 zombies locked in a room on a second floor inside of an appartement building. As they spotted me, they turned aggro and their animatinons made them glitch thruogh the wall one after another. Noone survived the fall. I stood there with xCap and we thought "oh cool, a zombie dispenser" :D

    Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous

According to a fragnet guy on /r/DayZ, the server hosters get charged for a central database service for private shard servers, which is a matter of expense the hosters need to pass on to their customers. http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2k6mui/brian_hicks_on_twitter_the_vikings_over_at/clie8iu

    Shoes in experimental

Good question lol. Might have misunderstood you. It depends if you agreed to kilchi's quote below or not. :)

    what twitch fuels

It's a matter of taste i guess. I often watch twitch streams, DayZ and its slow pace is quite enjoyable to watch for me personally. But it really depends on the streamer and how he interacts with his viewers. Just watching the game isn't worth it. However, that does not apply to the viewercount. Had some nice chill hours on streams with like 15 viewers and a good streamer. OP: Maybe the streamer RP'd a bandit that day. What he did would be a totally normal tactic then, since it wasnt even KOS.

    Shoes in experimental

We are not testing, the devs do. You delivered the data they were looking for, most likely if the degradation works as intendet and if there have been bugs that passed through their internal QA in the mechanic itself. They were not testing how long the shoes last because thats a value you can alter quite easily.
  23. ChainReactor

    Shoes in experimental

We are talking about experimental ! Every player who opts in to experimental should know what he is doing and should be able to gather the info's by himself. They are everywhere on the different channels. Also, remember Hick's post concerning this: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/210847-what-is-experimental/ Sticky post in the Experimental subforum. I really don't know what some players expect when they come play experimental. It's definitely NOT the showroom for new stuff some seem to expect.
  24. ChainReactor

Why do the majority of players i encounter suck?

It's a sandbox game. People tend to be assholes in games with no rules. Easy as that.
  25. ChainReactor

    Shoes in experimental

Because it's often enough not some nonsensical drivel. Let me give you another one for this specific case: It's experimental. Really, some things make much more sense when you know about the reasons why they are how they are. Let me explain a bit further. And thats where i will repeat that we are talking about a first iteration on the experimental branch. There is nothing wrong with degradation speed because it's more than likely intentionally. Experimental is the testing branch for the devs, not for the players. First iteration: Check if the mechanic works as intended, runs properly through its different stages and if it causes any trouble to a larger number of players ( like CTD's, Status lockups or anything alike). This is data you want to gather quickly because bugs here indicate that there is a problem with the mechanic itself and that should be solved with the next update pushed to the branch. TL;DR, the topic we are discussing here is nothing wrong, its not a bug, its not broken. It's a method for the devs to gather data they need on the current iteration as quick as possible. It's annoying sometimes, but everyone who opt's in to experimental should be aware of that. Experimental is no exclusive showcase of the new stuff for the players who can't wait. It's unstable by definition and doesn't have gameplay and a nice gaming experience in mind. With that all being said: I highly doubt it. As I said, it's often intentionally to speed up that stuff on experimental. Remember, the devs have a self-set timeframe of one week for the next update. How likely are you to get the data you want from a large group of players when the effects and mechanics you implemented only work when every player spends 100 hours in the game without other problems like death to players or bugs that will reset said mechanic ( works for any of your examples: hunger / thirst, weather effects and shoe degradation )?
