Animals also make rather human footstep sounds lately. I almost got paranoid from footsteps only to find a boar behind a house.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
ChainReactor replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
- Aim with the animation of your melee weapon. The white dot isn't a crosshair, its simply the middle of your screen. - wait until the zombie starts his attack animation, then sidestep or circle him, you have time for an attack now. If he deals damage despite hitting the air you might have lag/desync. - dont spam your mouse button. Rather hold it down. - When you want to outrun zombies, vault over fences, since zombies can't vault. But as they can see you from miles you need to make miles too, and it's likely another zombie will spot you while doing so. With the zombie circle dance and the animation aim, I have close to no problems at all when fighting zombies. Also, in addition to the axes, a farming hoe or a pickaxe are quite superior against zombies, too. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
ChainReactor replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
The underlying mechanics for zombies are under heavy active development. They are nowhere near a finished feature, thus no need to fix, it just needs more development time. And the game you payed $30 for isn't released yet. You are playing development builds, which is something you should be aware of everytime you start DayZ. If you're looking for the finished game, take a break, enjoy the fact that you got a nice discount on the title and wait until retail release. -
Because that's two completely different kinds of shoes.

Map orientation is really something you will have to learn. Once ( I was pretty new to the game ) i started in Krasnostav, visited the NEAF, decided to run south and one hour later, i've seen another airfield. "NWAF? Balota?, I thought...." Nah, it has been NEAF. I spent one hour to sprint a perfect circle. Pretty frustrating moment. :)

DayZ Standalone 0.51 Experimental - How to pick up frozen items
ChainReactor replied to Nonapona2's topic in Gallery
It's the 5th iteration. So it's 0.50/5 for everyone to lazy to include the actual build number. :) -
http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/214039-stable-branch-update-delayed-patch-050/ If you really wanna play 0.50 opt in to Experimental. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/177199-experimental-branch-testing-how-to/ Or just wait for next wednesday hopefully.

Ah, allright. So, to answer your original question: No, fire isn't useless for ( rather against :) ) hypothermia, you just set it up at the wrong place and wasnt aware of the bug i described in my first reply to this topic. Will light a candle for your gear.

I dont get it ?
-
Ah yeah second floor piano house. Thats where i tested it myself. Go downstairs and take a fire shower :P
-
Been some times .. :)
-
Hm, in the beautiful Kingdom of Saxony we only say "ä Haufn" :P
-
Can't see your pics too. But if you have been on a second floor, the heat "drops" through the floor. If you would have stand at the exact same spot on ground level, you would have gotten all the precious heat. At least that was the case in exp 0.49, haven't tested it since then.

I know right ! Give badmins and hackers a public stage where they can sunbath in the shining light of the players they have pissed off so bad. You have to understand that those kids are trolls that do what they do for exactly this public attention. And on the other hand, we don't help when we discuss things like these. We just show what is possible to other potential trolls. If theres a badly administrated server, gather evidence and report it so actual actions can be taken, and if you encounter a hacker, file a detailed-as-can-be bugreport so the devs can find the loophole that is being abused. Srsly, discussing those things publicly just to vent off helps not a single bit. It actually makes it worse because thats the intended effect.

Any gun or melee weapon can open locked doors with little to no effort.

Head/Neck/Torsoshot breaks my legs?
ChainReactor replied to Re-Patch's topic in New Player Discussion
Known bug. The server lost track of your position for a fracture of a second, "thought" that you are floating in the air and dropped you to the ground ( all happening server side, on your screen everything looks normal ). -
Thats totally normal for experimental. Whenever a new mechanic comes into the game, it's exaggerated to test if it works as intended ( like if it goes through all its stages correctly, causes any bugs etc ). The dev's can't wait 200 ingame hours for that data, thats why it's sped up. When the new hunger system was introduced, we all starved and when hypothermia came, we all froze to death. So yeah, it always was like that. That being said, yes, shoe degradation is nerfed down to a more realistic pace now. Please keep in mind exp is the testing branch for the devs, not for the players.

I'm a 4, always been. There's no point for me in being kitted out, I'm not looking for PVP and i will die eventually anyway. I encounter everyone friendly and i try to be entertaining to others. If they kill me, i dont mind, will simply start over again and meet new people. Sure, that can be frustrating, and i ragequitted more than once after being KOS'd for the fourth time in a row, but i simply say "this ain't your day, just leave" and i will come back with the same mindset. That gave me many unique encounters. People that see every player as an enemy automaticly miss so much.
-
No, this would have been announced by the devs, and there is no actual reason for a wipe now.
-
It's no hard mode of the game though. It's just the place where the devs test their builds with a large ammount of players to iron out issues they don't catch internally. If you think you can handle frequent client crashes, server crashes, mechanics being ridiculously exaggerated due to testing or the responsability to report any bug you find rather than complain about it, feel free to join. Oh, and don't think about gearing up. New character on every new build mostly. The focus on the game is just very different from the stable branch, and i personally love it.

OP said he knows about that in the very first line of the thread. Come on, read the rest :P

To be fair, they did and an actual bicycle would only be a cosmetic change since they gave us like 30 kph sprinting speed with no fatigue.
