It's not "my idea", it is the actual ingame model. It's in the gamefiles, but not used/spawning so far.
-
Nah no CD's. Look what we already have in the gamefiles:

NP Woodland Warrior ! :D

Unlike the items, which are indeed saved server side, your character(s) are saved on the central hive. So yeah, persistant items are saved on the ( game ) server.
-
Yeah 0.50 has an issue with item condition not updating, which results in everything being pristine. Also, purification tablets have no effect. Drinking from ponds is safe anyway.

Do we really need more towns?
ChainReactor replied to stielhandgranate's topic in General Discussion
http://i.imgur.com/GEaivpe.png I also like the wrecked cars traffic jam idea. The road from Cherno to Balota would be a nice location for this, since Balota was the main evacuation point. -
It's Austria.

Dead zombies blocking stairways

^ this. Works with Items that block your way too. -
DayZ 0.5 first impression after long break
ChainReactor replied to Zing Freelancer's topic in General Discussion
This one however is far from being new. :) -
Persistance data structure has changed. You can't really expect that your tent is persistant on a ( pretty major ) update while persistance is still a big WIP.

Can you guys PLEASE at least delete the pics from a full quote if you only have "dis is cool" to say? Would be awesome. -

Sometimes, I do such research for DayZ too. And when I do so, or educate myself about high power military-only firearms, or googling stoping power comparsions for different calibers, i really really hope the NSA isn't monitoring me :) And if they do, ^ read here ^ it's just a game !!!

Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
ChainReactor replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
That's security sensitive stuff that you will never find on any patchnotes. A general info like in the latest patchnotes is enough. Sadly, that is partly true. I checked a cheating forum a couple of times because i couldn't believe why they put so much effort in this game. Some of them use DayZ as coding practice because its much easier in an Alpha game then in a finished game ( logically ). I wont share any details here, if you're interested, just do some research on your own. -
That's very likely. The most important cpu parameter for DayZ is single core performance. AMD is a step behind intel on this one.

Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
ChainReactor replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
BattleEye catches hacks, it doesn't prevent it. The devs job when it comes to anti cheating measurements is to find and close the loopholes and exploits that allow hacks. They have an entire team to do this and every patch is closing some loopholes. The sad thing about hackers is that they are constantly searching for new ones, which will occour during a dev stage in which there are massive code updates with every new update. -
A real good suggestion before people move on!
ChainReactor replied to Paradiz's topic in Suggestions
White knight incoming ! lol The problem is that these facts are often outdated or the deadlines are not really deadlines. The devs stated numerous times that the huge success of the early access made them shift the focus of the development massively. They got the opportunity to greatly expand their vision what this game will become and they re-planned the entire development. So when we talk about vehicles, they initially didn't plan to re-write the entire physic model and how detailed not just the vehicles, but rather the entire vehicle system will be. It's not surprising that especially the physics rework and the implementation of it took quite some dev time. Speaking about deadlines, people often take it as set in stone when one of the devs say things like "we aim for...." or "we think we can make it until....". Thats not a deadline, thats an assumption. Actually, i can't remember if any dev ever communicated an internal deadline to the community. -
Click on any coloumn headline to sort it by that. Click on ping and it will sort it by ping, or click on mode to sort it by mode.

At least you spell it right. On some item it's spelled "Flecktran" :P

Do alpha/beta testers get perks on the forums?
ChainReactor replied to Chamil's topic in General Discussion
Different colored names based on donations and achievements are a feature of this forum already. Donate $100 and cuddle Boneboys: bright blue username Donate $500 and cuddle Rocket: bright green username cuddle Rocket unconscious and run away with the money: bright pink username I'm currently training armwrestling and 100m sprints like Usain Bolt. Disclaimer: YES, this is meant to be funny. lol, before someone accuses me of accusing devs to rob our money. -
Hey, I'm german too lol. But I mostly play like the dudes in the video. Nice, clueless, and way to friendly for this harsh world. Maybe that's why i didn't leave experimental for the last 3 major patches.

shoe comfort wear anyone care to explain?
ChainReactor replied to gannon46's topic in General Discussion
Perhaps the word comfort concerns the status messages "my feet hurt" and "my feet feel sore" that pop up when your character starts to take damage because of ruined / no footwear. -
[Standalone] Servers do not refresh / show up
ChainReactor replied to aPanzerIV's topic in Troubleshooting
No. The regular branch where the majority of the players can be found is the stable branch. It has a scheduled maintenance every wednesday that usually lasts 3 - 4 hours starting 7.00 GMT. When there is a new update incoming however, there is quite a bit more work to do, thus the maintenance can take most of the working day. Eugen ( dayz dev ) said it wont take more than an hour, and he said that almost an hour ago, so the servers should be up again anytime soon. The servers you can see online right now are the experimental branch servers. This is the testing branch for the devs where they stress / load test their internal builds with a bigger player base. This branch is by definition unstable and not gameplay - oriented. You can always try it out ( check the experimental subforum to see how ) but be aware that his are not the builds that are meant to provide a nice gaming experience.
