tl;dr

I had 2 encounters today. The first was nice. I was at the south end of the NWAF and I turn a corner only to run into the only other guy on the server. He doesn't shoot and neither do I. We stare at each other for a moment then we start talking. I help him with some ammo, he helps me with the location of a LRS and then we part ways. Good guy....thanks Paul Bunyan The 2nd encounter was not as friendly. I am at the military base by Vybor. The loot was the craziest I've seen it yet. It's like I walked into a Cabela's or Bass Pro. I'm in the single barracks on the south end and I hear a zombie. I figure it's coming for me. I have a Mosin on my back and an AKM with a 75 round clip in my hands. I don't want to drop the AKM since I've had issues losing stuff after I drop it so I figure I'll just put a bullet into this zombie. I look out the window and see the zombie run by but it's not coming for me. Then I see the guy it's chasing. Remembering my earlier encounter, I tell him not to worry, I won't shoot if he won't. He doesn't say anything but I see him trying to get his axe out to kill the zombie. I figure I'll go help him and I can have a 2-for-2 good day. I come out of the barracks and he shoots me in the leg then turns and shoots the zombie. He fired first so I put a bullet (or 10) in his head. Sorry about your luck, but if it was going to be you or me...it's gonna be me. Just goes to show you that you can never be sure what the other guy is thinking or what he will do. This is why I primarily play alone and try to avoid other people

Great....just happened again. No server reset warning. Server resets (and 45 minutes later it's still not back up...Gameservers must be a horrible host) and I join another server only to be a new spawn and being attacked by a zombie before I'm even fully spawned. very frustrating...

Too many? I rarely ever see one anymore.....and when I do, I always kill it with an axe. Shooting only brings more

Same here. I joined a server and played fine. Quit after a while, then when I joined a different server with persistence on, my character is wiped. I re log back to the first server and character is still wiped. Guess I'll be roaming the coast...

Oh well. It was kind of boring anyway. Time to start a fresh guy and maybe even a new play style

Will that kill my character?

Yeah, but with only 3-4 people on the server, it being nighttime, and me being in the middle of nowhere, I didn't think I was killed

I'm fairly new to DayZ. I thought I had a bit of time to play so I started up the game. I am on a nighttime server with 3-4 people on it. After about a minute, I am told I have to get off the computer so I exit the game. The next time I log in, my character is completely reset. I think it's a bug and log off and log back on. Same thing. I assume that I somehow died when I exited the game the first time. Is there a way to tell? Or could this just be a glitch?

Ok, I went ahead and joined a server and even though the name and character looked like my brother's, it started a whole new game. When I quit and my brother swtiched to his Steam account, it showed my name and my character but once he joined the server, it worked. Thank you

I started the game, and the name was my brother's and the character had my brother's loadout. I did not try to join a server because I didn't want to screw up my brother's character. I'll try joining a server and see if it actually is his character. I am hoping I don't have to have multiple Windows accounts and switch back and forth between them as well as Steam.

Yes, I switched Steam accounts, but my character loaded on his account.

My brother and I share a computer but have separate Steam accounts. I installed DayZ a couple days ago and have been enjoying it. My brother wanted to start playing too, so he bought a copy on his Steam account. However, when he starts to play, it loads my character. Is it not possible to play on separate Steam accounts on the same computer?
