I'm hoping for some more remains of miltary presence scattered around Chernarus. Not necessarily all places that spawn loot, but things like abandoned roadblocks and checkpoints, some visual fluff to enhance the atmoshpere.

How can I find servers that aren't fully looted?
sachad replied to pikmonster's topic in General Discussion
Try some private hives with low- to medium player numbers. Public hives tend to be picked clean by swarms of hoppers, especially around spawn points and hot spots like bases and airfields. -
These things have been worked on since I bought the alpha in July or something. I'm not sure what you're implying here, but whatever it is, you're probably wrong.

The only people who think the devs do not care are those whose impressions will not be swayed regardless of what they say. You're just fishing for validation that yes, the devs are indeed lazy.

I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you. And nobody's saying you can't do the exact same thing you did in the Mod. You're still free to gear up and hunt other survivors. Only now, that's going to be priority #2, with #1 being staying alive in the middle of a very, very hostile environment.
-
No connection? Whatever it is you're taking, I'd like to buy some, because you are definitely on another planet, friend. Same map, same premise. There's your connection. But don't take my word for it. Dean Hall himself said he'd always wanted the mod to be more of an anti-game, and thus the standalone came to be.
-
This isn't the mod. That's the whole point of the Standalone. I'm afraid you've been terribly misinformed.

New player.long story and a few questions

Word of advice, never feel like you have to justify killing someone for any reason. Never feel sorry for doing it either. Especially not to people running around with a small base worth of weapons and ammo :P -
Is it worth buying Dayz standalone yet? [With Developer responses]

A sale would mean what, 50% off at most for DayZ? While you are waiting for that day, you could be having $17.50 worth of fun, and then some. -
That's how the SA was advertised, an anti-game that will punish you for every tiny mistake and push you to the brink of a nervous breakdown. Anyone who bought the alpha expecting anything else really only has themselves to blame.

Survivors being immune to the infection is a design choice, not an unfinished feature.

Brass knuckles. Never leave for Berezino without 'em!

When I first started playing I observed a three-man naked pitchfork deathmatch in one of the fields north of Elektro. Good times.

Sure, you're entitled to your opinion, but yours is based on misconception, so you're wrong, no two ways about it. When you say alpha has been going for over two years and use that as a basis to criticize the development of the game, then I'm sorry to inform you that your opinion is not worth the virtual paper it's written on.
-
Ash yeah, forgot you need ashwood for those.

You can search the forest floor for sticks.

Every time you say that this game has been in alpha for over two years, God kills a puppy. It's been less than a year and a half, and they are pretty much on schedule for the projected development cycle. Have you ever actually read up on the developers' plans, or are you just parroting after all the whiners that came before you? And if two years of beta is what it takes to make this game great, then I'll gladly wait. In fact, I think the devs should purposely drag out the development a little longer, because that'll drive away even more undesirables from DayZ. Meanwhile I'll just enjoy the buggy mess that is the alpha.

The start of this video is too rediculous to put in to words. | They Never Learn ~ (DayZ Standalone Hardcore 0.55)

How'd you get those status indicators? -
I don't understand these people who go to Cherno's police station and expect to find anything except books and spanners, only to come up dry and complain that the loot is broken somehow. If you're in a coastal town or city with no zombies and opened doors all over, looking for loot is a waste of time, especially in big hubs like Cherno or Elektro. It does not mean the loot spawns are bugged, it means that everyone and their granny has already passed through and cleaned out the place. Staying on the coast as a bambi is almost never a good idea, unless your goal is to ambush and kill others. The presence of zombies is a fine indicator of whether it is worth your time looting a certain area. Even more so if you find a number of closed doors nearby. Look for lone houses away from towns. Learn which towns see the most traffic, and which ones see the least.

New player.long story and a few questions
sachad replied to JMurph2809's topic in New Player Discussion
1. Never tried fishing in the sea, but I see no reason why it would not be possible. If not now, then down the line. 2. You need to skin animals before you can loot them. A simple stone knife is enough, but basically any bladed weapon (except axes I think?) will do the trick. The better the condition, the more meat you'll get. Bones, hides, and guts have practical uses nowadays as well. 3. Servers that advertise things like "500% loot", "no PvP" or stuff like that are full of crap anyway. If you want my two cents, go for a private hive. That will at least eliminate the swarms of server hoppers picking dry all the good spots on public servers. -
Heh... whenever I find a big lootsplosion with bear traps, I always activate them.
-
It's not always about effective. I used to run around small towns dressed in pristine black tracksuits and trainers, drinking Kvass, eating potatoes and beating the tar out of zombies with a baseball bat, because why would I not do that?

Forget her, dude. She'll chase after anyone!
