Balaclavas seem to be good headwear against the cold too.

Seems zombies are affected too. I shot one with a magnum, and the other one just around the corner just stood there gawking at the sky.

You mean your Hardcore character is the same as your Regular?

Zombie Challenge #2 - Elektro Boogaloo
sachad replied to Zombie Milkman's topic in General Discussion
Well it wasn't easy, and I did get hit a few times, but we got lucky and managed to trap like 5 or 6 of them at the same time. I don't think I could have done it alone. Usually I would play bait, run into the house while he opened and shut the doors as needed. Nobody came, though... two guys in their underwear came past but they went right for the police station in town. As for lag, I did get some towards the end, but nothing major. -
Honestly, for the DayZ noob, a Sporter is just the best starter weapon provided you have some mags for it. When you first enter Chernarus and everything is terrifying, a Sporter is your friend. Low recoil means that you can just unload on a charging zed until it drops, and low sound means you won't attract fifty more. You should've seen me trying to kill rushing zeds with an SKS on my first day...

Odd. Were they in a usual spawn location or just randomly dropped? I also got a drum mag and 2 AKM mags, all full, from my first and only Veresnik camp run on .49, no actual gun yet though.

Zombie Challenge #2 - Elektro Boogaloo
sachad replied to Zombie Milkman's topic in General Discussion
Heh, today I was trapping zeds, or trying to at least, when some dude ran up and shot them. He ended up giving me his sawn-off for killing my pet zeds, then helped me by aggroing zeds and bringing them round. Long story short, there are now about a dozen zeds trapped in the Vybor piano house. He's still on the server keeping watch, he said he'd start recording if people came by. Fingers crossed! -
He did. I went KO twice, actually. First time he used an epi pen, but I passed out as soon as I stood up again. I was energized/hydrated when I went down anyhow. Still, I laid there for half an hour while he went off looking for medical supplies, to no avail. I was going to run back and get my gear, but I encountered the 'dead on respawn' glitch so I just gave up and left. All my precious gear is in good hands, so I don't mind too much.

No. This puts those who just logged in at a serious disadvantage. Everybody else in the area knows they are there, but they still know nothing. I like it the way it is. You can never be absolutely sure you are alone, and that's how it should be.
-
Mercy killed. I went KO with not enough blood in me to wake up. My buddy left me behind to go search for saline bags and epi but could not find any. So, he shot me and took my important stuff.

Ideally all playing styles should be equally challenging, so that there is no "right" way to play.

Whats your favorite location on the map?
sachad replied to TheMaxedout's topic in General Discussion
Gorka. It's the first town I managed to use as orientation to get to other places. I enjoy hanging around there when I'm bored. -

Have any one of you reading runners ever been shot (at) while reading? -
I've found a Blaze, a crossbow, a P1 and a 1911 Engraved, but no mags for either handgun, and only one box of ammo for the Blaze, on top of a fire station.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
sachad replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I don't know if melee is so much better all of a sudden or if I'm just getting lucky, but last night I hit a 2fer three times in rapid succession. One swing of the fire axe, two zeds dead. -
Yep, been getting that too.
-
Looks like one of the new ones.

Maybe one of the new dynamic spawns? What kind of heli was it?

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Bugs are easy to spot. The same zombie types will glitch through the same doors. I saw someone say the blonde female zombies are buggy, so I avoid or shoot them before they see me. -
Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?
sachad replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Again, it's the freaking apocalypse. Absolute anarchy. I remain firmly of the opinion that if you get shot for whatever reason, or no reason at all, you brought it on yourself. Whenever I see someone, I assume they are dangerous and will kill me on sight, until they prove otherwise. -

They'd crawl to the woods, get splinted up and come kill you before you're done gloating :P When dealing with killers, always double-tap. Then shoot them again to be safe. Ammo will never run out, and neither will zombies and players. As for friends... they can be a hindrance as much as a help depending on your playing style. -

If you get killed on sight, your fault for being in sight in the first place. If you don't want to get shot, take precautions. Scout your surroundings. Stay concealed. Don't assume the straight path is the best. All too often I see people running across open fields in a straight line. That's like painting a huge target on your back. Personally I don't KOS, I felt bad the only time I did it, but I have nothing against those who do. This is a sandbox game, there are no good or bad playing styles. If you survive, you're doing good. If you die, not so much. There will always be good and evil. -
I like the Sporter. Especially with some 30 round clips. And even the bravest guys will duck for cover when you're firing rapidly at them with a Sporter. It's a good starter gun if you've never played the game, before upgrading to the big boy guns.
