For the record: I think combat logging is a cheap tactic to avoid the repercussions of your actions, and should always be frowned upon except in the rare cases where someone logs out for other reasons. My friend had to log during a firefight once because his wife cut her hand in the kitchen and had to go to the hospital. That being said, to everyone who is going apeshit over combat loggers: relax, take a chill pill. Someone logged on you, alright. It's frustrating and it's lame, I get it. Just call him a bitch, and move on. Take it out on the next unfortunate sucker to cross you.

Meeting a psychopath on your first day? LUCKYYY!
-
You'll probably kill yourself faster than you'll kill anyone else with this weapon. 10/10 for looks, 0/10 for practicality :P
-
Because then I don't have to be taking a dump every half hour from all the stuff I have to eat to stay alive. I'm not against poop, but against pooping.
-
Only if I can use my poop to leave writings on the wall. But seriously, no. If you want to use crap to pollute water sources, then just add animal crap to the game.

How I feel when wielding an AKM with drum mags:
-
What I learned from this topic: Some people take this game waaaaay too seriously. Who the hell cares if somebody combat logs? Are you gonna cry because you didn't get your precious kill? Are you feeling better about yourself because you call someone a bitch for logging? I've had a fair few people combat log on me and not only did I manage to not completely lose my shit, I actually just shrugged it off and went on with playing! Amazing! You should try it too! Srsly.

Steel/lead pipes, brass knuckles (though I hear they're working on those), molotov cocktails (technically a FIREarm I suppose xD), police batons, and baseball bats with nails through 'em!

Why do I never meet people like this...

Instead of sticking with the same playing style for all my characters, I've decided to change things up a bit. I'm going to take a small tin, fill it with little notes that say Bandit, Psychopath, Coward, Lone Wolf, Hero, Murderer and Survivor, and pick one blindly whenever I die. -Bandit: Will hold people at gunpoint and rob them of any valuables he needs. Will not kill at a whim, only if victims do not comply. -Psychopath: Will toy with people, frightening them and attempting to kill them with random melee weapons, with some disregard for personal safety, but trying to make it at least an amusing death for the victim. -Coward: Will hide most of the time, actively avoiding other players and zeds for as long as possible, and running like hell if he is spotted. -Lone Wolf: Probably the most neutral character. Will not actively hunt or avoid people, but will not work together with anyone. Only kills when threatened. -Hero: Will actively try to assist survivors in need, and hunt down bandits when he can, or providing protection for poorly-armed survivors. -Murderer: Self-explanatory. Kill on sight, regardless of threat level. -Survivor: Take to the woods and survive 'off the land', though may venture into towns if surviving in the woods proves difficult at times.

I would pay good money for a chance to scream "FOR THE RED AND BLACK!!!" before charging at a horde of zombies with a Zweihänder... You filthy Agathan scum!

How I will determine my playing style from now on

Well apart from the Psychopath, all these characters still have survival as their main goal. Hero or not, if you try to pull a fast one on me, it's kill or be killed. And if my psycho dies, so be it... at most I'll lose an axe and a payday mask anyway. -
Are these weather effects a bit too much?
sachad replied to Sistinas1973's topic in General Discussion
Yes, menial work, just what everyone's been waiting for. IMO going out in the rain is safer than going out in bright weather, provided you have the right gear. Reduced visibility means you're harder to spot, the noise of rain and thunder means you're harder to hear. Not sure if this applies to zombies as well, but either way, you're harder to detect by other players. -
Mags? Who needs mags? SKS-Magnum combo ftw!

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
sachad replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
It isn't fixed, but it is getting better. Since the .49 update came out, I've only seen zombies clipping through doors twice, and never through solid walls. They don't even run through low fences anymore. And it is definitely possible to lock them inside houses now as well. I expect the problem will gradually be fixed as new updates roll out. -
Well, try it with the small mags first then. Load one into your gun, fill up your inventory to the max, take a deep breath, and reload. And if the shit does go wrong, there's always Veresnik :P

Loot spawns - anyone else frustrated?
sachad replied to johnny0964 (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I'm finding SKS all over the place. Every other police station that hasn't been looted seems to have one, and I see them often in those small blue hangars, the one with the little 'office'. I have only found one Mosin since the update. Magnums seem to be abundant in fire stations, but I haven't found one anywhere else. AK101s and AKMs are easy finds in long barracks, with the 101 seemingly a tad more likely. My two cents, if you're a bambi looking for a gun and you're not that picky, find a police/fire station. If the place hasn't been ransacked yet, chances are good you'll walk out with a gun (or a fire axe at the very least if you're in a fire station). Not necessarily a loaded gun, but nobody says you need bullets to pull off a robbery! -
Maybe... maybe we could have our way with the zombies as well? Chop them up into fine pieces after killing them, or maybe string them up ourselves?
-
Not having to reload can be a deciding factor That happened to me on previous builds, but I just tested this on .49, not a single free slot in my inventory, swapped one drum mag for another, no problem. And to make sure they were actually swapped, I shot a few rounds out of one mag and left the other full. Reloaded, still no problem. The 'lighter' mag was now in my backpack, the full mag ready to go.

Are these weather effects a bit too much?
sachad replied to Sistinas1973's topic in General Discussion
I haven't seen rain in over a week, I was beginning to think weather effects were bugged since all I get is sunshine these days.. And really, with just a minimal amount of foresight, making a fire isn't difficult. All you need is an axe, some rags/bandages/paper and matches. The first two are items you need always, and should be a priority for a fresh spawn. Matches are abundant in civilian loot spots. So when I get too cold, I just run into the nearest woods, chop down a tree and make myself a toasty fire. -
Nice one, sir!

That's really just being a psychopath, isn't it? Or a serious mental case in the broad term. -
How I will determine my playing style from now on

After meeting a very amusing person in Gorka today, I have decided to add another 'class' to my roster: -Russian Businessman: Pristine color-match tracksuit, pristine white trainers, pristine flat cap, pristine aviators, baseball bat. Will predominantly hang around in cities, loitering in front of restaurants. May on occasion be found 'locked up' inside a police station. Will be very appreciative of people busting him out, but his temper remains volatile at best. Will literally kill for Kvass. This one will come to fruition once persistance is dependable. He will trade in weapons and ammunition, as well as military clothing. -

Katanas were a last ditch weapon. Samurai favored the bow and the spear/naginata, and the katana was something you drew when your other weapons were lost. Even when dueling, the katana was typically the last weapon to be drawn. The only reason the katana became synonym with the samurai is because samurai had the privilege of wearing katana and wakizashi in public, and thus most contemporary images of the samurai depict them with swords. And yes, compared to other contemporary swords, the katana is pretty weak. They were only 'pure' by Japanese standards. It's horrible against even basic chain mail, let alone scales or steel plates. And now I want a naginata in the game, dammit!
