  1. When using the fire axe (and you should be!), forget about the crosshair dot. Look at the axe head instead, and you'll be hitting a lot better. You can even drag out your swing and hit multiple zombies with some practice. For me, fire axes definitely kill regular zombies in one hit, 100% of the time, no matter where on the body it connects. Military zombies take two hits. If you have different experience, it's fair to say the problem is probably lag related.

    "Hunting"

Bravo, sir! On the subject of hunting: Is it at all possible to kill a boar or deer with a melee weapon? Me and a friend spent 30 minutes chasing after the same boar and never caught it, even when trying to corner it.

zombies no clip - sorry if already done

This. You still draw aggro from inside buildings, but they'll be standing in front of doors until you open them. In some places it's still possible to hit them through closed doors (long barracks for example). I barely see any zombies entering closed buildings, except for the blonde female in the purple shirt who still appears to be bugged. Also hoppers still sometimes clip through floors, but that's a bug that works for the player, since you can freely hit a zombie stuck in the floor without getting hit yourself. Since .49 I have never ever been hit through a wall. So yeah, all these people complaining that its worse or the same as before are very unlucky, or they plain don't know what they're talking about. Or they're just arguing for argument's sake because they've long decided that DayZ is terrible and will never improve, and will never admit to anything else.
  4. Recently I've been enjoying a run on Hardcore, playing mostly on servers with at least 20 players. In that time I have been shot or attacked at a few times, but only once was it a shoot-on-sight situation. The other times it was due to, shall I say, 'breakdown in communication'. I've had more peaceful encounters there in two days than I did in my last two weeks on Regular. I thought about it, and my guess is one of the main reasons is that Hardcore mode is a bit more challenging, and therefor discourages the lamest of players and generally attracts people who want to play DayZ and not CoD: Chernarus. There's still plenty of bandits out there, but they appear to be less murderous as opposed to bandits on Regular.
  5. I've killed one person, and mortally wounded another, with one grenade It was gloriousDid ruin the pants though

    Less KOS in Hardcore servers?

Not so lucky today I'm afraid :P

    Less KOS in Hardcore servers?

Well, my luck ended. Logged in inside the Severograd factory. 3 seconds later I hear footsteps so I take my sawed-off out, some guy with full camo and a skull mask comes from behind a corner with an axe and starts coming at me with the damn thing raised so I shoot both barrels pretty much a point blank range, he doesn't even bleed and 1 second later I come down with a bad case of split cranium.
  8. Nobody's arguing that the guy got what was coming to him. You go to the airfield, you risk your life. It's the braggarts that are annoying...

    A well-deserved reward

Kill a man, take his aviators! I like your style!

Do I look like a bandit?

One does not simply 'lighten up' in Chernarus. Lightening up gets you killed.
  11. Pics or it didn't happen. Seriously, I don't believe you.

My last 20 minutes in Dayz.

The battery life on the cattle prod is pretty terrible, but the kills are solid. One body shot to knock the zombie out, one body shot when it's down to kill it.
  13. sachad

    Well, I combat logged.

I'm betting many of these holier-than-thou characters here have combatlogged at least once themselves :P

    To easy to find food/drink?

I've never even come close to starving on stable servers. At most I'll get hungry because I just forget to eat or pick up food.

My last 20 minutes in Dayz.

I'm not aiming at any body part in particular. I'm pretty sure body shots work just as well.

Increase walking/running speed while on incline

So make that a risk. But we should have at least the option to escape a zombie by going uphill.

My last 20 minutes in Dayz.

Or a working cattle prod. Seriously, these babies are hella awesome vs zombies. Hit em once, they go down, hit em again so they won't get up ever again!

    Zombie Classification

Could be a mix of the three in the game? Numerous slowpokes, and about the same number of fast/medium running zeds as there are now.

    Where are the mosins?

Check under the beds in the back room at police stations. I've found Mosins there twice.
  20. Well I dig your style too, man! Got the whole cowboy thing going.
  21. It really doesn't take skill if you have a weapon that kills in one or two shots, and in the case of the cattle-prod, if you hit once and KO the zombie, you've already won because the second strike is a freebie. Just circle-strafe and swing. Don't spam your attacks, if you miss, just keep strafing and swing again when the zed gets near. And there's always the Brave Ser Robin approach...
  22. Crowbars aren't the best, but they work. But there's plenty of other melee weapons that are plentiful and better suited. Cattle prods will two-shot a zombie every time. You don't even have to aim that well. First hit will knock it out, the second will kill it. I think stun batons work the same, but have shorter range. A farming hoe is also a great substitute for an axe. Pitchforks too. Also, don't try to engage multiple zombies with a crowbar. I barely even do that with an axe. I run around and isolate the zombies from each other, then take them out one at a time.
  23. I'd love to eat some bear. Just hope the bear doesn't eat me.

Was it the first person you met?

    Standalone Couple of questions?

If you enjoyed the mod, I'd say buy the Standalone. It's only 30 bucks, and despite all the bugs, glitches and hackers screwing things up, I've gotten my 30 bucks worth of entertainment out of it, and then some. Besides, when the game finally hits the shelves and it becomes the mother of all survival horror MMOs, you can say "I liked it before it was cool." ;)
