Now before anybody shoots me for suggesting identification, hear me out. Why not let the player spawn with a personal ID card on them? It would have their names and faces on it like a normal ID, maybe DOB and nationality for flavor. But, here's the brilliant part! You can chuck your ID the second you spawn. If you choose, you can carry identification on you, or you can remain anonymous. It could be the basis of a sort of trust system, where you show your ID to people you meet and vice versa if you so choose. The idea being that if someone shares that kind of personal information where they could just be anyone they can imagine creates a sort of trustworthiness. And, if the other guy screws you over, you have his name and you can hunt him down for revenge. Even knowing which server they're on, maybe? After all, if we're roleplaying interaction in Chernarus, continuity would be awesome. Friends already play together, why not enemies? Also, bandits could steal people's IDs, to use themselves or just to screw others over.

An ID would just be that, an ID. Just a name to go with a picture. You'd have no idea what the owner would be like until you learn first-hand.

A possible solution for communicating physiological needs

Well, imagine doing all these things yourself... you'd actually see yourself performing the animations, wouldn't you? -
A possible solution for communicating physiological needs

Certainly. Coughing from a cold is self-explanatory, you'll hear your guy cough and maybe raise his hand to cover his mouth. Rubbing hands/sides, clutching your stomach or gripping wounds are all animations that could be used for 1st person. All except hunger/thirst could be put into animations for the character. -

Oh, I thought the idea was to have your actual character do these things... I should read better. Anyways, let's do that. -

I like the idea... instead of the game telling you this stuff, it's now your body you have to listen to. In a figure of speech. -
Not everyone handles the apocalypse well...

Sometimes when I play and I have lots of gear, I notice myself thinking that I should not be able to carry all the stuff I have in the manner that I am carrying it. For example, when is the last time you managed to fit a protector case in a pair of jeans in real life? Or a fireplace kit inside a tactical vest? So, I would suggest the following: Break inventory space of individual items of clothing, and maybe that of backpacks too. For instance, instead of just a big 4-slot inventory space, your jeans would have four individual slots to put stuff in. This would force you to carry bigger items in your backpack, as well as make you think long and hard about what to take and what to leave.

That was intense... I have a Sporter on Hardcore with a box of ammo and no clip... I wanna try this too :D

I leave notes in the streets of Novo that say "Boom.".

If lockpicking is going to be realistic and difficult, I also want the option to just say 'fuck it' and smash a window :P

The Community's List of Suggested Weapons for Dayz Standalone (Version: 1.29)
sachad replied to alexeistukov's topic in Suggestions
A Dragunov rifle would surely fit the theme of the game, no? -
It creates an extra layer of difficulty, IMO. Instead of just shoving as much stuff in your inventory as you have slots for, you would have to be considerate. "I can either take this protector case full of stuff I need, or a fireplace kit to keep me from freezing."
-
It's true! Just tried it and it works.

Agreed... Generally speaking, zombies are currently only a threat when you're a bambi with no gear, but the instant you find a half-decent melee weapon, you can just slaughter them as soon as they appear.

Something I pondered... Should hunger and malnourishment be two seperate things? I mean, it's easy to fill your stomach with anything remotely edible to stop you from feeling hungry, but that does not necessarily mean you're eating the right thing. -
You should have played that new Lenny Kravitz song for them :P

Every time I play my game ends with me falling and dieing

Maybe that is why I have only ever once had the random staircase death bug? I only play on servers below 50 ping. -
In Mother Chernarus, environment destroys you! Here's some cheese to go with your whine.

Good idea, but would it be possible to add location of players?

I had great fun following my friend around as he danced his way through Elektro. It was fitting considering the moves he was busting.
