Why does the game hide everything cool from us?
sachad replied to Sebidee's topic in General Discussion
Games are also not supposed to cater to everyone. If you're not having fun, that doesn't automatically mean the game sucks. It just means it's not the game for you, perhaps. And yes, top tier stuff should be accessible. It is accessible. It should not, however, be accessible to all. People with kitted M4s and ghillie suits driving around in trucks need to be the exception, not the norm. -

How boring the game is is entirely up to you. If your experience is entirely determined by finding a few specific items, then I'm sorry to say you're playing the wrong game. This isn't scavenger hunt, this is survival. -

I think not finding everything cool within one playing session is a good thing. I hope that when DayZ is in a more advanced stage, they drastically reduce loot spawns, from food and clothing to weapons and equipment. Survival should be a struggle. Your main problem should be "Where am I going to find my next meal", not "I've been walking for hours and STILL no heli crash!" -
If we're making our own bombs, there should be a considerable risk of it malfunctioning or blowing up in your face (heh heh). Otherwise we're just going to have nail bomb battle royale all over the place.

"The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting." -Sun Tzu -
I re-read what you wrote and accept your facepalm. Still, assuming synching weather across the entire hive isn't an easy feat, I think this is shooting a mosquito with an elephant gun. With waterproof clothing and backpacks added, negative effects of rain are less of a problem.
-
Meh... essentially this would a be a tweak catering to the weak. Hoppers gonna hop, if not for the weather, then for lack of loot, or too many players, or nighttime or various other reasons.
-
As mentioned in most topics about this suggestion: the zombies in the SA are not dead people come back to life. They're live humans infected with a disease. Basically we're not killing zombies, but diseased people.
-
You're actually the first one on this forum I can think of who has complained about switching servers to avoid rain. Out of the many reasons people server hop, this one ranks very low on the list, I'd say.
-
Using an exploit is using an exploit, regardless of your intention.
-
Eh... not convinced. I don't mind if it rains or not, and it's never made me switch servers.
-
Nerfed or not, I still like shotties - and Magnums. I took a guy down in two shots from about 30-40 feet away, and I wasn't even aiming that precisely. Not really big on the repeater, but that's mainly because I'm not a good shot with it. My current set-up is the MP-133 as my main weapon, Magnum as side-arm, and a sawn-off/derringer combo tucked in my backpack for that surprise effect. I've got no need for magazines, clips or attachments, and ammo is plentiful. As soon as I find the elusive pistol-grip MP-133, I may ditch the sawn-off.

My granddad had cows and I used to drink raw milk all the time. It's the best! Back on subject, this could be a good addition. Though milking a cow isn't as straightforward as approaching it and obtaining themilk :p

No matter how much fancy gear I have, I feel naked until I find me some aviators and redpunk boots.
-
It is, compared to gunfights and melee combat. I could've pulled it off this week with relative ease in Severograd. And yes. Amnesia Haze.
-
I would. Right now my only real options to kill someone are guns or axes. One's too loud, the other's too close. Poison is a more passive, safer way of killing someone.
-
Who's talking about giving them food? I'm talking about stalking a guy who tried to kill you, figuring out his path, and poisoning loot along the way in the hopes that he takes the bait.

But it's alpha...A tale of magic and wonder (frustration)
sachad replied to Adams (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Bug fixing (and game development) isn't as simple as pointing out a problem and expecting it fixed in the next patch. Every patch fixes some issues and brings new ones. Moreso, the alpha stage isn't focused on fixing bugs, but on adding content. The fixing comes in beta stage, when the core mechanics are in place and functional. -
Well, for me the game has always been enjoyable, but I do have the opinion that the loot system is getting better. I wouldn't call it fixed, though.

So the conclusion is: You like the game, but you ran into some game-breaking bugs and that frustrates you. Fair enough, but let me smack you with the 'IT'S ALPHA' sign nonetheless. You were extensively warned about the likelihood of game-breaking problems before buying the alpha, and you have to click through the same warning every time you play. Coming in here and getting passive-aggressive about such things in your first post is not a great way of introducing yourself to the forum. -
Poisoning can be used for self defense as well. It's quiet and allows the poisoner to get far away from his victim in case they have backup. If anything, it is the smart way to kill. Nothing you said is any reason to exclude poisoning. You mention guns are used for hunting and killing players, but killing them with poison is a no-no? I'd much rather get poisoned by someone who put some effort into killing me, than get shot by some tacticoolboys for the lulz.

None of that stuff happens to me on an even remotely regular basis. After six months and about 400 hours of playing, I can still count the times my game crashed on one hand. Hell, a particularly uncourteous Yakuza could still count them on one hand. And my computer is five years old, with a generic video card and enough spyware to make the NSA blush. Also, how do you crash the game, kill yourself, lose your weapon AND die while lagging at the same time? Honestly, from where I'm sitting, you sound like you played jack shit, and are just rehashing the same crap posted by others before you. I could be wrong, but somehow I don't think I am. And why would you even do tactical stuff in Balota? -

That comparison is so mind-bendingly inane... Progress on DayZ is constant, with major updates happening every few weeks. DNF was announced, hyped and then not heard from again for eight years, then briefly popped up before disappearing for another couple years. There were almost 15 years between the announcement and the release of the final product. And good things do come out of development hell. Team Fortress 2 was in development for 8 years. Pikmin 3 took around six or seven. And both games were well worth the wait. I'd much rather wait another 5 years for an epic game, then wait one year for a shitty, rushed project. Kind of like AC:Unity.
