    Where do most people congregate?

That is odd... Usually there's at least some activity around Novo especially on full servers. Try sitting on the big tower for a while, you're bound to see someone before too long. And remember, just because you don't see them doesn't mean they don't see you ;)

    DayZ Vehicles (first implementation)

Is stuffing potatoes into tailpipes going to be a thing? :P
  3. I was talking with one of my Chernarus pals, and both of us were being sort of nostalgic about our first moments in the game. Neither of us played the mod, so it was all new to us. And I remembered the actual fear I felt. I didn't know what I was doing so I just picked a low-ping server with about 10 players and clicked 'Connect'. I washed ashore half a mile from Kamyshovo, in the heart of night, in the middle of a raging thunderstorm. On a hardcore server. Within 15 seconds of shuffling about in the dark, I heard a zombie groaning. Then it screamed. Then it screamed again but closer. I ran and ran until I stumbled across the road and started following that, the zombie still hot in pursuit. I reached Kamyshovo, then heard gunshots further up ahead. I hid in a shed, but the zombie found me and smacked me around, ruining my shirt and making me bleed. I punched it to the ground and ran away again, screaming for help, but whoever fired those shots was either long gone or not interested. I finally collapsed from blood loss, and died shortly after. It was one of the most frightening game experiences I had since playing Resident Evil 2 alone in the dark as a kid. And it struck me just now that I'll never get that feeling again. In my first days, even if I had an axe or a gun, zombies still scared me. Now I put them down by the numbers. I'm no longer frightened, I'm wary and alert. Other survivors are now the main threat. It's like I've grown numb from all the violence I've seen and committed. Chernarus will do that to a man...

Found a MP-133 Pistol Grip Shotgun

Well, he has a point. If we all started reporting every rare find, there'd be no end to clone topics. Maybe we can just tack a sticky somewhere for people to brag about their new-found toys.

    Shot while drinking water

I once shot at a newbie to drive him away after we'd played together for a while, because he was annoying the hell out of me with his endless questions. I kinda felt bad watching him zigzag for his life. But, such is life in Chernarus.

DayZ has become empty and boring

I didn't go to Rify for the longest time, then when I wanted to see if it was still a hotspot, I fell of a ledge. Fuck that ship, and everyone in it!

    Different Ideas to Limit KOS

You know, there is a system in development that literally drains the blood of gamers as they lose health in the game they're playing. Now THAT would make DayZ interesting!
  10. It does, unfortunately. But I did not necessarily wanted to say that is a bad thing. Getting that intense pants-soiling horror is nice, but so is mowing down a 8-zed train with an axe :)

.51 Someone pls fill me in

Yes, but beware that persistence is very screwy right now. Server resets will almost surely make your tent disappear.

Lets post some screen shots (Standalone)

This is my truck when I left it to find gas. This is my truck when I returned less than half an hour later. Can you spot the difference? Learn to drive before you steal trucks, fer feck's sake!
  13. Do you have any Belgians yet? I just applied :)

    How was your Day(Z)?

Got attacked by a bambi in Chernaya, I let him chase me for a bit trying to talk him down, but he wouldn't have it, so I whipped out my trusty axe and socked him in the head. He went KO, I bandaged him, he came to, started attacking me again, so I had to put him down. Poor thing still had its flashlight. By then I was all the way down to the Novo train tracks, so I wanted to get higher up and scout the area. Unfortunately someone else had the same idea before me, and I was sniped on my approach. Now I'm in Kamyshovo again. Ugh. Edit: Kamyshovo turned out great! First hourse, I go in, and find a Mosin on the bedroom floor, and a box of ammo in the closet. Found a PU scope in the police station and a LRS in the restaurant. Also got me some hunter pants, riders jacket and jungle boots, plus a drybag full of food and drink, all from little old Kamyshovo! Now I'm heading to Msta/Staroye to see if my luck holds long enough to find a truck :) Second edit: Found a truck at the big barn outside Staroye but it was low on gas so I parked it in the nearby barn and went to search for a gas canister. When I returned with one an hour later, my truck was stuck in the barn doors. I mean, if you're gonna steal someone's ride, at least make sure you know how to drive...
  15. When they add more vehicles, they will also become a LOT more difficult to operate. Good luck getting your car rolling when you need to find the engine block or a steering wheel, and then carry it all the way back before having to get the gas to start the engine. And how do you even know how vehicles will be when the game is released? Not even the devs fully know that. That is why we're testing them first. You also seem to be under the impression that testing means everyone should just have a go. That's not how testing works. Enough people are finding vehicles that there is plenty of feedback on them already. And the game is not rigged against anyone, everyone has a fair chance. And if you want to improve your odds, go play experimental. Assuming you don't die from starvation, newly added items are more abundant.
  16. That's only because you set yourself some very silly limits. Again, if your experience depends entirely on the acquisition of some rare items, then you're playing the wrong game. Go back to playing the mod, and accept that the standalone is not supposed to be the same game.
  17. Because that's how it works in a post-apocalyptic world. The strong survive, the weak perish. What's the point of rare items if they're not rare?
  18. If you're honestly comparing the mod to the standalone in terms of development, you're even sillier than that guy in your avatar.

    Chicken Eggs

Let us catch chickens and raise them in coops. Then every breakfast becomes a power breakfast. Eggs, beans, bacon, tomatos, and a Spite, the tasty beverage to wash it all down.

    there is no "end game"

No end game! Just game. Every life-threatening situation is a possible endgame.

    Sniper Game

If you wanna be a sniper in Novo, be a sniper in Novo. Can't guarantee anyone else will want to play by your rules, but that just makes the game more interesting.

    Bandana masks

Are you finding the right ones? So far I've only found pink, camo and green face mask bandanas, the rest are just headwear.
  23. We all want to drive a frickin' truck. Stop being a baby about it, get stuck in there, and find one. And if you don't have the chops, someone else does. Everything you want can be found in abundance in the DayZ mod or one of its variation. Go play that. The Standalone is an entirely different game. You think trucks are hard to come by now? Wait until you need to find parts to get one to start. Edit: And if you think everyone around you is an asshole, that's usually a sign that you're the asshole.
  24. Maybe not in your book. It's fine in mine. I already run into far too many truckin' tacticoolboys to my liking. And if you've had the same gear for 9 months, the problem is definitely on the client side.
  25. No, they're not. They're just difficult to get, which is just fine. You're just not willing to put the same effort in as everyone else. Here's a pro tip: If you're looking for fancy gear, go to the NWAF or a military base, or one of the PvP cities. If you can't find it on the floor, you can find it on a dead guy, most likely. And what's your obsession with top tier equipment anyway? None of my gear is top tier except maybe the Gorka jacket, for the rest I've got civilian weapons and gear, and I'm doing just fine.
