Do AK74 mags spawn with the rest of the AK family mags, i.e. the long barracks? It's the only mag I haven't been able to find in the game so far.

I get up close precisely because I'm a terrible shot even without aim glitches. If I had had an SKS or Mosin instead of the shotgun, my buddy would likely have died, and maybe I would have as well. But a double blast from a sawn-off at point blank will kill them 100% of the time, so it's my preferred weapon in close quarters.

That's what you get for not keeping your shotty loaded at all times. -
Soon we'll get infections and other medical mishaps. I assume getting mauled by a zombie will be a good way to get infected.

Met the friendliest dude in Berezino just now. He was going door to door with the most basic of gear and no weapon but a splitting axe. He needed food so I gave him some beans and fruit, and he gave me some shells for my shotgun. We parted ways and I continued looting the town when I heard shotguns going off a little further. I went down to investigate, and I saw my new buddy zigzagging across the street, bleeding profusely, followed by a bandit with a sawn-off. My buddy fled into the office building, so I quickly got onto the roof and entered through the top floor. My buddy was hiding in one of the rooms bandaging himself, so I covered the stairwell without him noticing I was there. The bandit tried to sneak up the stairs, but two shotgun blasts at point blank range took care of that. Most of his gear was ruined, but we managed to salvage the shotgun, his fire axe, some buckshot and .357 rounds, his hunter pants, his jungle boots, a can opener and a pair of binoculars saved by his protector case. Alas his Magnum was ruined. Still, a good day. Met a friendly, saved his life, and got some heart-felt thanks.

I remember something like this. I was at the Chernaya Polana firestation when a bambi came at me with a bat. I'd ran all the way to Novo before I managed to kill him. -
The glitch apparently causes the gun to be dropped at the last place it was picked up. I had this while carrying an extra Izh. I switched to my axe to kill a zed, the shotgun disappeared, I went back to the little car junkyard outside Berezino where I'd found a bunch of them, and it was right there on the hood of the Hilux where I'd first found it.

Or just add magic mushrooms and get the same effect.

You could probably get a decent cult started with that, though!

Nobody said players will become the lesser threat. Everything else will just become more of a threat than it is now. You can keep blasting people away in hopes that one of them has the stuff you need, but then you'll just keep inviting trouble on yourself. Do you really want to risk hordes or bandits coming after you for the off chance that the guy you just shot has a can of beans or a few bullets on him?

Some tips on finding magazines and crash sites.
sachad replied to nillie's topic in New Player Discussion
You can find LRS and PU scopes in civilian loot spots. Garages, pubs and taverns are a good place to find them. I've only found ever AKM magazines at long barracks, but they're not that rare in my experience. AK101 and AK74 mags are harder to find, and mags for the M4 and Steyr can only be found at crash sites as far as I know. Personally, unless it's an AKM I don't bother with assault rifles anymore. -
Well, you better pray the guy you shot has anything worth attracting attention over. If you manage to kill him with a single bullet, that is. People throw themselves into gunfights these days because there's little else to do, and the penalty for dying is mild, since gearing up is quite easy. Once the environment becomes a real threat from zombies, wildlife and climate, and food, weapons and equipment become scarce, the penalty for dying will be quite severe.

A cow typically doesn't shoot back at you. But when you have only six rounds in your SKS and no spare ammo, are you really going to waste them on trying to kill some random guy, who might kill you before you get to him, or who might have friends nearby, while alerting every zombie (or worse) in a 1000 yard radius, when maybe, just maybe, this guy isn't a trigger-happy maniac and he might be able to help you?

PvE is the core of the DayZ Standalone. Your theory is invalid.

Seppuku isn't just any old knifey-stabby suicide. We already have those.
-
Why on God's green earth would anyone want to commit seppuku in DayZ?
-
I wish people would stop comparing doomsday preppers to survivalists.
-
Pretty soon you won't have time to be curious.

Please Revert back to the old running animations

Play 1PP and you won't have to look at yourself ;) -
Lone wolfing is for the 'elite' survivors, sort of. More difficult since you have to do everything on your own, but other survivors are always a liability. In the end you can only count on yourself. You don't necessarily shun contact, but you won't rely on them to carry your ass.

Avoiding/Killing Zombies? Finding Food?
sachad replied to bmc341999's topic in New Player Discussion
You can sneak past zombies if you don't get too close. But their ability to spot and follow you over vast distances makes it quite tricky. Once you've got a weapon capable of killing zombies in one or two hits, I'd suggest just killing them. -
Does anyone actually enjoy killing zombies in DayZ?
sachad replied to Awruk's topic in General Discussion
It is my hope that at some point this year, people are going to enter a new experimental build, thinking it'll be some new items, some updated mechanics and the usual starvation, only to find they've walked into nightmare mode. While there's been progress with pathfinding and glitches, really it's only made the zombies less threatening. Well, I hope that they're saving up the good stuff. I'm talking hordes of 30-50 zombies roaming around cities, aggressively going after any survivors. I want to approach a city like Novo, and hear the guns rattling in the distance as I draw closer, with zombie corpses strewn throughout the streets. I want to see groups of people fighting for their lives. Guys with AKMs opening 75 round drums of whoop-ass on the horde running at them, while lesser armed survivors flee for their lives, batting away lone zeds with axes and bats. I want to pick up some dead guy's gun and use it to try and save my own ass. I want to have to run into a hospital and flee to the roof, while dozens of zombies pile into the building after me. Hell, I want to run out of bullets and reach for my axe as I make a final stand, and take my own life when all hope is lost. That's the level of despair I hope to see in the game. I have faith in Bohemia that they will deliver. And if it takes time, rather they use it well than bring us a shitty rush project. -
role playing - which additions would we need for our role playing servers (items, craftables, loot, objects...)

"Crops". Sounds interesting ;) -
You either die a hero, or you live long enough to become the villain.

I like the revival thing, but I also think we need a limit. Defibrilators should not cure head shots with baseball sized exit wounds :P
