  1. With fertilizer it's no more than 10 minutes or so. Without takes twice as long. Ish.
  2. Right now pumpkin patches are decoration only. I haven't done much gardening recently, but to grow inside a greenhouse you only need a digging tool and seeds. Fertilizer is optional but recommended since it greatly increases growth speed. Dig a spot, fertilize, plant seeds, wait, harvest, omnomnom.
  3. Rule #1: You can't trust anyone but yourself. The only objective in DayZ is staying alive. How you do that is up to you. Right now, there really isn't much to do once you're geared up, unfortunately. Zombies are hardly a threat, and neither is the environment, which means boredom-fueled PvP is rampant. You could set yourself certain limits to make survival more difficult, like not eating food you find lying around, only what you can kill or cultivate. Practice your survival skills, because it's only going to get more difficult as the game progresses. As for server hopping, it is frowned upon by many, but amongst all the undesirable behaviors in the game, this ranks pretty low in my book. After all, it's just alpha, none of our characters are going to last.

    Starting Over

You know, I've been doing that too. The past week or so I've added about a dozen private servers to my favorites, trying various playing styles with each one. And the more gear I get, the less fun it gets. Not that the game sucks all of a sudden, but I just start wandering around aimlessly.

Do we really need more zombies?

And when your playstyle gets you killed by either zeds or better shooters, I'll gladly take everything you have thats not ruined when I come across your corpse, before I disappear into the shadows again.

Do we really need more zombies?

The reason zombies are few and far between is because they're still being reworked. Buggy as they are right now, adding more would just cause more frustrations for players. Also, I think there are some issues with servers not being able to process hundreds of zombies. Once the more serious issues are fixed, I expect we'll see a lot more zombies, that are a lot more dangerous than they are now.

Do we really need more zombies?

I do hope zombie spawns won't be limited to towns and cities in the future. I'd like to be cutting through the woods one day, and stumbling across a horde moving through the trees.

    The Ability to Pour Water

Heh, if you could put gasoline into canteens, that'll be fun. "Care for a drink, fellow survivor?" Heh heh heh...
  10. Ugh, I wish they wouldn't. Now the Severograd quarry won't be such a great hiding place :(
  11. Every time you get killed (barring hackers and glitches), it's your own fault. If you go sit still in the open when you know most people wouldn't think twice of blowing your head off, you're kind of asking for it.
  12. Drum magazines aren't that rare in my experience. I found two of them the last time I visited Veresnik.

    Please help

Sometimes I wonder how often I've been in somebody's crosshairs, sitting still. I've had dozens of people at my complete mercy like that, and they'll likely never know. Always assume someone is watching.

So when is this big ban wave coming?

No, I actually went a bit stalker-y and read up some of your recent posts. You complained raged about you and your squad getting gunned down at the ATC by a hacker. Then a little before that you told people that they have no idea what early access alpha means and that they should feel priviliged about being part of this. And now you've basically told Bohemia to go fuck themselves for not addressing cheating, which you damn well know they are.

So when is this big ban wave coming?

No I'm talking about people whose idea of DayZ SA is rolling around airfields with squads, and exploding in a big ball of fire when they get dubiously killed. You tell people to calm down and be patient when they're rudely pointing out things that suck in the game, and then you post rants like these yourself when some shit happens to you personally.

So when is this big ban wave coming?

I don't know, but at this point I'm actually hoping they're deliberately holding off on it just to screw with people like you who come here all high and mighty. I can already tell you're not the kind of player who'll stick around when the game is where it's supposed to be anyway. Do yourself and everyone else a favor, and stick to the Mods.

    How was your Day(Z)?

Did you know trucks have a turbo function? Hold the shift key as if you were sprinting, your truck will get a nice boost, at the cost of spending your gas 25% faster.

    How was your Day(Z)?

Tales like these are what give me hope for the future.

    do cars need fuel?

I've got the opposite problem. I keep finding these damn canisters everywhere, but never any trucks.

    Average Lone Wolf Wouldnt Survive

Reminds me of a video I saw, where a lone sniper took out a group of four or five people, simply by shooting someone and waiting for their buddies to come out and help them :P

    Mags harder to find

Pick your servers wisely and loot balance isn't a problem. For starters, servers with active persistence seem to be horribly unbalanced. Also, going on servers that promise "MEGA LOOT 500%" are generally picked clean by swarms of hoppers. Every private server I've played on recently seemed to be just fine in terms of loot.

    Average Lone Wolf Wouldnt Survive

Both playing styles (should) carry their own risks and rewards. Lone wolves will be leading a more nomadic lifestyle, roaming the map freely but not being able to build much of a base. The benefit is that a town with even a few cans of beans and Pipsi will save your life if you're starving. I'd say the nomad style, if done right, may even be safer in terms of attracting enemies. A lone player is harder to spot than a group of five or six people going through the same area. The downside is that if you do end up facing overwhelming odds, your fighting chances are very slim. Groups will be able to hunker down and use their numbers to their advantage, but more survivors means more mouths to feed, more wounds to tend, more security needed. Groups can be infiltrated. If people with ill intentions find your base, they can rob or destroy it, or hide nearby waiting for survivors to return. If someone dies, your group is weakened. And even the most closely knit group can have a falling out. All in all, I think these things will balance themselves out. I hope people will stick to various styles with their own pros and cons, rather than conforming to what is the 'best' strategy. Otherwise this game will become truly boring.
