A model viewer for stuff you don't know even exists. It is highly immersion-breaking. If you want a game where you can try on clothes, I suggest picking up that Kim Kardashian game.

Barring the exceptional glitch or hacker, you don't die randomly. If someone legit kills you, that's on you. Turning a corner anywhere can put you in someone's line of sight. And if you get a bullet to the brain, that's it. You're dead. No killcam, no kill message. Just darkness.

It's immersion-breaking. Your goal is to survive, not to go and collect the pieces of the outfit you just spent 15 minutes assembling in the menu. When this game comes out, loot might be so scarce you'll never get a chance to collect it all anyway.

But that's just the thing. This is NOT Arma. This not even the DayZ mod for Arma. This is the standalone.

That's what I like about running into almost-freshies. They've got this haggard look, combining tattered rain coats with canvas pants and a cowboy hat. Much more fitting to the setting than all those military clones you run into all the time. This isn't Fashion Week, this is the apocalypse! And if you're looking for a stylish outfit, look no further than winter hunter pants, a Riders jacket, a black (check) flat cap, Redpunk boots and aviators.

Shooting any of my friends won't necessarily piss me off, since most of them don't pay attention and get themselves killed. Unprovoked attacks however, shall be avenged.

If you're dead, you're dead. Who cares who did it? The only one you should be upset with is yourself for putting yourself in a position to get killed in the first place.

Optimization is decidedly not the goal of alpha stage. Right now is when they add things. This isn't a finished game, you should not compare it to others. If you want smoother FPS, lower your settings.

I can't say, I've never used one before. Maybe the in-game description mentions it?

A heatpack will help, but only a bit. It's mostly an emergency measure while you look for better ways to get warm. Best to get a fire going ASAP.

I did that once with a loaded SKS and a box of ammo. First bambi picked up the gun and went hiding in a house. The next bambi got shot immediately, the one after that managed to get away. Then I came out and got shot at, but fortunately he had only one round left in the gun, so I shot him. Bad freshie.

Fresh meat! All I can say is, don't get discouraged by bugs and being shot for no apparent reason. Try as many different things as you can. Your characters likely won't live long due to violence, bugs and server wipes, so experiment.

Go to a night server and light a fire or flare at the top of a building. PvP will come to you.

This is the first house I look for to find a gun, before police stations or fire stations. If you're in an unlooted town, you're virtually guaranteed a gun. I've found every firearm so far save the assault rifles, submachine guns and military pistols.

Haven't seen anyone with a chainsaw. Or a sword.

Beans for excellent use of night time without gamma cheating.

Those 'No PvP' servers are the worst. It's 20% people expecting not to get shot, and 80% people who joined because the other 20% are such easy marks.

Which adds a liability factor because if one guy slacks off, the group suffers as a whole.

I mean, seriously, these things are awesome. I joined a new private server and got a southern Berezino spawn, made my way to the small junkyard full of pick-up trucks. I came as a bambi, and left as a badass. Hunter pants, hiking boots, black boonie, a drybag, a Mosin + 5 round clip + 2 boxes of ammo, a Repeater + box of ammo + 13 loose rounds, a fire axe and a freaking pristine Riders jacket. Not only that, but I found a lockpick, a machete, some matches and enough food and drink to last me a week. And that's just the stuff I took. I left 2 SKS, an MP-133, a Blaze and a Sporter. There were 3 more drybags plus assorted Taloon and children's bags. So all of that in under 10 minutes. I've always found gearing up to be relatively easy, but this was just ridiculous. And the kicker: I found a pristine LRS and worn compensator AND pristine aviators in the first tavern I came across after leaving the junkyard, plus a Magnum at "Grandma's House" down the road. Now all I need is a sawn-off to tuck in my jacket, some shells, and I'm ready to party!

Nope, nothing out of the ordinary. Just many, many cars in a tight space. Everywhere else, loot was as abundant as you'd expect.

Well, since I'm having fun at the car cemeteries, I'm thinking of playing a new game. Go into a junkyard with nothing but jeans, shirt and trainers, and whatever I can find there is what I roll with. Once I'm done, I stop looting and try to get the additional food and loot from players, friendly if possible, by force if necessary. See how long I last before I either die of starvation, dehydration or gun shot wounds :P
