Wanting to kill someone and being able to are two entirely different things. And I find the notion that everyone who's ever killed someone is crazy to be... well, crazy. What about self-defense? What about soldiers? People have been killing other people since there were people. Surely you don't think all of them were crazy?
-
Why the hell would you want to get rid of bandits? If anything the effects of killing should be opposite to what you describe. Someone who's just killed a human being for the first time will probably experience more psychological trauma than someone who's killed more people than they can remember. Can you think of just one mass murderer or serial killer who's shown remorse or guilt? Some people just have it in them to be remorseless killers. And anything that enforces consequences should be left out. Let Chernarus be the judge.

Good video. Also, props for doing the no commenting thing, we need more videos like that!

Everyone's a threat in my book. I'm not even sure I can trust my friends holding loaded guns around me. I've blown people's heads off just for startling me while I was wielding a sawn-off. But when you're alive at the end of the day, and they are not, well, then you did the survival thing better than they did.

I don't like shaving in real life. Men without beards cannot be trusted.

Well, I'd say it's 80% luck and 20% timing. First you need to get lucky to get them lined up properly, and then you need to time it so your swing hits both of them :P

If you can recommend a free recording program that won't stomp my current shitty FPS down to extra shitty, I'll give it a whirl. edit: Found this video on YouTube. This is pretty much how I manage to do it. Line 'em up and whack 'em.

Went to Cherno. Got shot at within 30 seconds. Left Cherno.

If my life depended on it, I would take the risk, but I wouldn't go around eating people for kicks. And if you're that far gone that you do eat people for shits and giggles, what's a little brain disease going to do to stop you?

Those mechanics are in the works, from improved zombie AI and hordes to a more realistic loot dispersion. Right now there's no real penalties for mowing down people with your drum-fed AK, but eventually your actions will have far reaching consequences. Personally, I would pick my moments for pulling the trigger, lest I carelessly attract a horde of zombies by firing the few rounds I have.

Beans for excellent Venture Bros. reference.
-
Skillz, I guess? Fire axes are well capable of hitting two zombies at a time. If not by intent, then by buggy code.
-
Would make the crowbar useful, too!
-
That's the beauty of the game. Everyone you meet can be your new best friend, or some crazy torturing cannibal. DayZ wouldn't be DayZ with enforced PvE or PvP.
-
And by dragging strikes you can cleave multiple zombies! I've been lining up 2fers for a while now, still working on that elusive 3fer. Makes me remember my third day or so in Chivalry, cutting three heads with one swing of the longsword. Good times...

Always look at the business end of your weapon. Playing Chivalry before DayZ paid off for me in melee combat :P

When gun shots are as loud as they should be, and zombies are numerous and belligerent, and suppressors are done realistically and made rare, sniper will become a challenging career choice. Right now it's just shooting fish in a barrel mostly. Most, if not all the times I got sniped out of nowhere, I was standing still on a rooftop or in the open field, just begging to get picked off by any sniper who happened to be nearby with a clear shot. The shot won't even attract much attention except for maybe one or two zombies and a player, if there are any even within a 100 yards. But when your unsuppressed sniper shot becomes a dinner bell for the dozens of dangerous zombies within a half mile or even a one mile radius, and working rifles and ammo become difficult to find, then it becomes a challenging playing style. Until then I'll hold off on paying respects :P

Tell that to all the people who have died gruesome violent deaths throughout history. Lawlessness brings out the worst in people.
-
You mean this? This is the standalone.
-
I don't like any form of forced mental effects, be they positive or negative. The game should not dictate your playing style, only the environment and your own decisions should influence that.
-
I like it. It'd be interesting to find other people's notebooks, and see what they've been used for.

At the end of the day, I don't really mind. While I personally don't see the allure in playing like a military squad, I do enjoy their presence. Every time I see a group of 3+ people in full military gear, my heart skips a beat, and I go into stealth survival mode. I either book it or try to sneak past them. Just like how you wouldn't be able to dictate anyone's behavior in a real life scenario, I don't see why we should dictate people in the game. The name of the game is survival. How you do it is up to you, but as long as you're alive, you're doing it right. Let the environment dictate things. We are all just giblets in the meat grinder that is Chernarus. Right now, Chernarus isn't the danger. But once that is taken care of, and survival becomes a constant challenge, that's when the real sand box experience begins. I'll be very curious to see how these military squads hold up then.

An oldie, I think this is 0.47. They guy in the shots is a friend of mine. He was in Elektro, I told him I was way out in Berezino. Caught him with his pants down, quite literally.
-
Wow... and I thought it was some kind of protection to keep people from getting killed in a certain area. This is somehow even worse!
-
Pray tell, what is a 'protection dome'? I've never played Epoch, and this sounds like I made the right choice.
