In Novo, creeping through houses on a full server, sawn-off in hand, one eye on the clock tower at all times to check for snipers. I knew people were there cause I'd heard zombies aggroing. So when one of them screamed like five feet away from me, I was so startled I panic-shot both barrels. Not even aimed at the zombie, mind you, just just my trigger finger clenching along with my butthole. Then I just ran into the woods.

I'm having the same problem. I updated to experimental, got the game freeze issue when trying to connect, so I went back to stable. After downloading the update, the game won't launch. I get the 'Preparing to launch DayZ' message for a second, then nothing.

Hatchets and ice axes work like a treat too. They're two shot weapons against zombies, with only a bit less reach than a splitting axe or sledgehammer.

They should be buffed up... Hilarious as it was, that fight was a complete travesty in a game that strives to be hardcore realistic :P

I make it my duty to save defenseless animals from zeds. Also I am hoping for bears and wolves, so I can watch zeds get mauled by them. Shit is cash!

Ever since I killed a guy with a single blow to the face, the sledgehammer has become a personal favorite. Seeing this video only strengthened that feeling.

Got a lucky break today on a private server. I was in Svetlo, but it was fairly devoid of useful loot. Basic melee weapons, some ammo and an odd Sporter in a piano house. Not that I needed anything, since I already have a backpack full of weapons. Then the server restarted, so I decided to try my luck in the police station to maybe try and get started on a police uniform. I found the hat, but I also found something way nicer. Behold, my new plaything! And since this is a server where I am prone to indulge in some banditry, I am currently looking for someone to test this pretty little thing on... I think I'll head to Novo and see if any snipers need to be disposed of!

There's plenty of buckets!

You can already carry around an immense amount of firepower without the addition of more carrying capability. You can even carry two main guns right now! Just use your hands, it's amazing! And before anyone complains about bugs with dropping stuff, yes, that is a problem right now, but do take into account that these kinds of bugs will be fixed.

Well at least you still took a few with you. That guy at around 50 seconds in died right as you went unconscious :P

This. There are places you don't idle. This is one of them.

The escape is 1000 yards in a straight line :P Seriously, don't run into buildings to hide from zeds. Glitches and desync mean they stand a chance of getting inside anyway. Just run a few laps around town and shake them off, or better yet, get yourself a half-decent melee weapon and just kill them. They're really not that much of a threat right now.

I'm almost too embarrassed to ask, but... how do you get stones? I've only ever stumbled across some randomly...

Aye, which will be dealt with in beta stage. Really, I don't mind the wierd functionality of items. Yesterday I opened a can of beans with a sledgehammer and had 78% left. But that's okay, because I UNDERSTAND. :P

Well, even with a suppressor, I imagine an AK type would still make a great deal of noise. I read somewhere that the difference between suppressed and non-suppressed is the difference between an airliner engine and a jackhammer.

Intense situation at the prison island! A tale of closing doors and clenched buttholes! After finding myself in Balota after fruitlessly chasing someone who had tried to kill me in Cherno, I decided to have a swim and go visit the prison island. There were around 25 others on the server, but as it was private, I went into the water anyway. I had some nice civilian gear, raincoat, drybag, hunter pants, and a repeater which I had luckily found at Komarovo's industrial area moments before jumping in the water, so I was not totally defenseless. After a long swim, which was interrupted by a server restart, I reached the island. After exploring for a bit, not finding much useful gear, I went into the prison complex, which is a lot bigger than it looks! After nearly getting lost, and finding myself an AK-74 and two full mags in the lookout tower, I was on my way back down. Then, out of nowhere, I hear a door slamming shut nearby, and catch a glimpse of a blue drybag going through the second floor hallway. I duck into the staircase and lock the door, then I do the same on the first floor. As I make my way up the stairs to close the third floor off, I hear it opening and closing. Gun at the ready, I crawl further up the stairs, heart pounding. I figured the guy went up the stairs to search the towers, so I quickly left the staircase, locking the third door behind me. If the guy has no lockpick, he isn't leaving. So with my gun pointed at the door from an angle, and watching my six like my head was on a swivel, I wait. A minute or so passes, and suddenly the guy appears at the door. He has the repeater I left up there in hand. I'd taken all the bullets out, but since Magnum ammo is not hard to come by, I have to assume he is locked and loaded. The following happens in about twenty seconds... I call for him to lower the gun, he fires a shot but misses. I respond with a short burst, and hit him somewhere on the torso. He runs down the stairs, but knowing he is trapped there, I go after him, inching down the stairwell. By now I know I have the upper hand, but even so, one well-aimed shot is enough to end my luck. So I call out again, telling him that he does not have to die if he surrenders. He does not respond, but I can hear him starting to bandage up, so I run down and finish him off with another burst. After confirming he is dead, I take some .357 and 5.45 rounds off him and exit the prison, praying that nobody else has been attracted by the gunfire. I saw nobody else, so I ran into one of the sheds down by the shore and logged out, still shaking from the experience. 10/10 would soil pants again!
