  1. It's a fairly normal development cycle. Keep in mind, usually the alpha stage is completely off limits to consumers. For all the bugs, glitches and incomplete features, DayZ is what you make of it, I suppose. The zombie aspect of the game is lacking greatly, but that hasn't spoiled my fun. I quite enjoy gearing up from scratch these days, going where the wind takes me.

    Using Online Map Cheating?

It becomes rather obsolete after a while. I used to use this to get my bearings, but now I know the map well enough to find my way blindly. Including the sweet loot spots, which aren't the same as the map suggests, by the way.

    Bartering Etiquette

If they act dodgy - shoot them. That's all the etiquette guidelines I'll ever need.
  4. Pay attention. If you get ghosted, sucks for you, but really, pay attention. So yeah, deal with it.

    Favorite weapon?

Sawn-off for me. Fairly easy to find, ammo is plentiful, it fits into most backpacks and it is just a monster at close range.
  6. Just let them spawn inside buildings as well. Imagine the surprise of base junkies when their favorite looting grounds are all overrun by military zeds :D
  7. I hope we get some roaming hordes outside of towns and cities as well, so the danger is everywhere. And I can't wait to see a cow get chased by 20+ zombies :P

"Friendly" Players who KOS behind your back.

My rule of thumb: The more someone tries to convince you they're friendly, the bigger the chance that they aren't. Actual friendly people do not say they are friendly, they just act it.

    So much negativity....

Personally, I don't follow dev blogs or patch notes except for the odd bits and pieces that get posted on the forum. I play DayZ under the credo 'This is a work in progress, shit can and will go wrong at any time'. I've done so since the first time I read the warnings about the status of the game. Sure, I've sighed and muttered some expletives every time something went wrong, but then I just hit the respawn button, or I take a little breather. A little bit later, I'm ready to plunge myself into the abyss that is Chernarus once more. And to this day, the 20 euros I dropped on DayZ have been some of the best I've spent on any game. I've got some 60 euro AAA titles collecting dust on my shelf, all great games, but somehow they don't have the power to keep me coming back like DayZ has. Perhaps I am more of a fanboy than I'd like to admit :P

    Any plans for 3PP immersion?

Just lowering the camera angle to an over-the-shoulder view would be a good step. This eliminates peeking over walls, which seems to be the major gripe with 3PP.

    Anyone getting bored of Standalone?

If you want to raise the stakes, try walking casually down the NWAF runway on a full server. I saw a guy doing that once, I had him in my sights but I just could not bring myself to pulling the trigger, out of sheer respect for his daring attitude :p

    Nutrition/Hydration is Ridiculous

This. It's definitely not as easy to get the healthy status now, but that's a good thing. I now carry a backpack full of tuna and peaches, and every now and then I have a munch. I haven't been hungry or thirsty since spawning in, and I'm now slowly working my way up to getting energized and hydrated properly. This seems like a much more natural process, compared to the previous systrem which allowed you to stuff five cans of food down your gullet and then wash it down with three cans of soda, without negative effects. Another step in the right direction.

Ha, you play a sport for girls! Now we shall mock you for it! Ha ha! Shillelagh anyone?

Lets get real, the real issue with this game

Do I really need to whip out the "IT'S STILL AN ALPHA!" sign here? :P

    Horses in DayZ Standalone

I am now imagining myself on horseback, plowing through a horde of zombies swinging a sword or sledgehammer around. FOR CROM!!!

Here, Devs, a word in your shell like..

But you're knocked out. How are you going to do anything in that state?

    I hate zombies

I was expecting some whiney video about how bugged and glitchy zombies are... This was much better. Have some beans!

Guide to etiquette? How to be new right?

Oh man, that takes me back... One time I was in a piano house when a player spawned in right next to me, so I did the only sensible thing and attacked him with a machete. He bolted, I ran after him yelling "I'm sorry let's be friends!". He stopped. So I chopped him up real good. I felt kinda bad about it afterwards. But not too much :P

    Nutrition/Hydration is Ridiculous

Robbery implies they took your money by force. Did a Bohemia employee break into your house, hold a gun to your head and force you to buy the alpha? No, they did not, so that's your first argument done. Why wouldn't they release the alpha, just because they are still working on a new engine? There are still tons and tons of other things that need to be implemented and tested. So you're saying that this is a studio that knows what it's doing that doesn't know what it's doing? Right. That's your second argument done. You seem to think that hackers only exist in DayZ. You should see some of the shit going on in other online games. As long as there are online games, there are going to be hackers. It is also a problem that is greatly exaggerated. People tend to blame hackers for bugs, glitches and their own carelessness. I've encountered two or three of them since I started playing in June 2014. I've died around 100 times, if not more, and only once was I certain it was a hacker, as he popped right in front of me and shot me. So that's 1% of my deaths caused by hackers. For all the problems plaguing this game, DayZ still gets very positive reviews across the board, whereas most of the similar games out there get mixed reviews at best. So clearly, the devs must be doing something right.

    Anyone getting bored of Standalone?

I sometimes get bored while playing, but then I just start again the next day and hope for better fun. And I still keep coming back.

Here, Devs, a word in your shell like..

I had this too once. Me and a friend got into a fight in Gorka and I ended up taking a couple bullets. My friend killed the attacker, and then I passed out from the blood loss. He gave me an epi, I got up and collapsed again a few seconds later. I laid there for a while while he went off trying to find a saline bag. After twenty minutes he came back empty-handed, so I had him cave my head in with an axe. Such is life in DayZ.
  23. True, there is always a chance that people still spot you, but even then you can make it difficult for them. Always assume someone is watching. Don't stand still in open terrain. If you need to eat or drink or bandage, find a spot that is easily covered. Move like smoke and leave no trail. Recently I've begun making sure I don't 'alter' the environment, for example by leaving doors as I find them. If open, I leave them open. If closed, I close them behind me. As if I was never even there. Personally, I find that not having a gun makes you more of a target, since most people who kill on sight are the kind who prefer easy kills. And paranoia keeps you alive. If you approach an armed player while wearing a vest, how do you rate your chances of not getting your head blown off and your vest stolen? Or shot in the legs and unable to move, then getting your head blown off and your vest stolen? It'd only provide a false sense of security IMO, since your legs and face are still woefully exposed.

    Nutrition/Hydration is Ridiculous

If you got stuffed after two cans, that means you ate them one after the other. Pace yourself.
